A Study of the Temperature Elevation Due to the Pre-flame Reaction in a Spark-Ignition Engine Using CARS Technique (CARS 측정 기술을 이용한 스파크 점화 기관에서의 화염 전 화학 반응에 의한 온도 변화에 관한 연구)

  • End-gas temperatures were measured using CARS technique in a conventional DOHC spark- ignition engine fueled with PRF80. The measured pressure data were analyzed using band pass filter method. The measured CARS temperatures were compared with adiabatic core temperatures calculated from measured pressures. Significant heating by pre-flame reaction in the end gas zone was observed in the late part of compression stroke under both knocking and non-knocking conditions. CARS temperatures measured at 10 crank angle degree before knock occurrence was higher than adiabatic core temperatures. These results indicate that there exist some exothermic reactions in low pressure and temperature region. CARS temperatures began to be higher than the adiabatic core temperature when the end-gas temperatures reached look. The temperature elevation due to the pre-flame reaction correlated better with CARS temperature than with cylinder pressure.

  • In this study we investigated the properties of the fundamental and adiabatic temperature rise of the concrete using high volume fly-ash. For this, the fly ash was used to replace cement at replacement ratio of 40% and 50% by mass, and then the slump, air content, bleeding, compressive strength and adiabatic temperature rise test of concrete were performed.

  • To understand the dynamical structures of stellar wind bubble, one and two-dimensional calculations has been performed. Using FCT Code with cooling effects and assuming constant mass loss rate and ambient medium density, we could divide stellar winds into the regime of slow and fast winds. The slow wind driven bubble shows initially radiative and becomes partially radiative bubble in which shocked stellar wind zone is still adiabatic. In contrast., the fast wind driven bubble shows initially fully adiabatic and becomes adiabatic bubbles with radiative outer shell. We also determine analytically the onset of thin-shell formation time in case of fast wind driven bubble with power-law energy injection and ambient density structure. We solve the line transfer problem with numerical results in order to calculate line profile of [OIII] forbidden line.

  • A new set of governing equations is derived for the dynamic analysis of the Free-Piston Stirling Engines(EPSE). Equations from the ideal adiabatic model for the thermodynamic analysis of the working fluid are incoporated with the equations of motion for the moving masses of the system, resulting in a set of nonlinear differential equations. The coupled set of equations are numerically integrated with proper intial conditions to obtain a steady state response of the engine. The proposed method is compared with the conventional method of analyzing EPSE based mainly on the ideal isothermal model. The results clearly shows the limitationsl of the conventional methods and the relative advantages of the method proposed in the present study.

In this study, an adiabatic square body was located at the center of an enclosure between the bottom hot and top cold walls. And the measurement of the detailed temperature fields was conducted by the method of two-color Laser Induced Fluorescence using a Nd:Yag laser. As a result, heat transfer characteristics of natural convection with an adiabatic body was estimated as a function of time over a range of Rayleigh numbers.

  • Numerical analyses were performed to investigate the characteristics of regenerator in oscillating flow by using moving boundary method and Darcy model. In this work, periodic adiabatic boundary condition was suggested as the boundary condition of adiabatic part so that the effects of the thermal inertia of the wall could be considered. In carrying out numerical analyses, two models were applied and compared. One called isotropic model has the same thermal conductivity in radial and axial directions within a porous media. The other called aeolotropic model has different conductivity in each directions. Isotropic model could not show the advantage of energy reduction which needs to maintain constant wall temperature difference between heater and cooler. But aeolotropic model could simulate the reduction of energy consumption.

  • In this paper, the performance of a domestic Kim-Chi refrigerator is predicted by using a calculation model & experiment. The objectives of this study are to find out the best design points of a refrigeration system and calculate an adiabatic characteristic to change outdoor temperature. The best design points such as refrigerant charge and capillary length were experimentally investigated. And the calculation model is conducted as a function of calculation parameters and outdoor temperature. According to this study results, the best design points of a refrigeration system are each 95g of a refrigerant charge and 3500/3500mm of capillary lengths. And the power consumption is 13.578 Kwh/month. And a part of the worst heat loss is a front side of a domestic Kim-Chi refrigerator body.

A Generalized Empirical Correlation on the Mass Flow Rate through Adiabatic Capillary Tubes with Alternative Refrigerants (대체냉매를 적용한 일반화된 모세관의 유량예측 상관식)

  • The performance of adiabatic capillary tubes are measured to provide the database for a generalized correlation. Test conditions and capillary tube geometries are selected to cover a wide range typically observed in air-conditioning and heat pump applications. Based on extensive experimental data for R22, R290, and R407C measured in this study, a generalized correlation for refrigerant flow rate in adiabatic capillary tubes is developed by implementing dimensionless parameters for tube inlet conditions, capillary tube geometry, and refrigerant properties. The correlation yields good agreement with the present data for R22, R290, and R407C with average and standard deviations of 0.9% and 5.0%, respectively. In addition, approximately 97% of the data for Rl2, R134a, R152a, R410A, and R600a obtained in the open literature are correlated within a relative deviation of $\pm$ 15%.
