In this paper, the problem of interfacial stresses in steel cantilever beams strengthened with bonded composite laminates is analyzed using linear elastic theory. The analysis is based on the deformation compatibility approach, where both the shear and normal stresses are assumed to be invariant across the adhesive layer thickness. The original study in this paper carried out an analytical solution to estimate shear and peel-off stresses, as, interfacial stress analysis concentration under the uniformly distributed load and shear lag deformation. The theoretical prediction is compared with authors solutions from numerous researches. This phenomenon of deformation of the members, which gives probably approach on the study of interface of the reinforced structures, is called "shear lag effect". The resolution in this paper shows that the shear stress and the normal stress are significant and, are concentrated at the end of the composite plate of reinforcement, called "edge effect". A parametric study is carried out to show the effects of the variables of design and the physical properties of materials. This research is helpful for the understanding on mechanical behaviour of the interface and design of such structures.
Traditionally, many kinds of mechanical bonding techniques were used for bonding resins to the surface of the metal alloys. If there is a seperation between resin and metal junction by stress accumulation and temperature change of oral cavity, the cracks or crazing may occur, accompanied by failure of resin bonding to metal. This study was designed to compare the shear bond strength of the type IV gold alloy and Cr-Co alloy surfaces treated with various methods and thermocycling. Universal Instron (Model 1000) and scanning electron microscope (JEOL, Japan) was used to record the shear bond strength of 5 groups. Forty specimens were made for each group ; group 1 was treated with sandblasting only, group 2 was coated with V-primer after sandblasting, group 3 was coated with Metal primer, group 4 wase coated with MR Bond and group 5 was coated with silane. After treated with various methods, thermocycling was done for half of the each group. The surfaces of failed pattern were observed with SEM. The results were as follows : 1. Shear bond strength of the group 1 was lower than that of another groups in type IV gold alloys and bond strength of the group 1, 2 were lower than that of group 3, 4, 5 in Cr-Co alloys. 2. Shear bond strength of the gold alloy with resin was higher than that of Cr-Co alloy when specimens were coated with V-primer. 3. Shear bond strength of the Co-Cr alloys with resin was higher than that of gold alloys when specimens were coated with Metal primer. 4. The bond strength of all specimens did not decreased significantly after thermocycling. 5. Adhesive failures were found in group 1 and Cr-Co alloy in group 2, but adhesive and cohesive failures were found in another groups.

The joint parts was composed of inner AL(aluminum) ring, FRP wedge and motor case which was manufactured by filament wound method. Where the motor case consists of helical and hoop layer. The finite element analysis was performed for the design variable of joint parts to improve the performance of motor case. Where the adhesive layer was modeled to elasto-perfect plastic material and the contact condition of AL ring and wedge was modeled by using the contact surface element of ABAQUS. And the sliding distance of AL ring and the hoop strain of composite case were compared to hydro-static test results to verify the accuracy of analysis results. When wedge and AL ring was perfect bonding, though the hoop strain of joint part was reduced, the maximum shear stress was occurred at the adhesive layer. Thus the adhesive layer had failed due to the high shear stress before the failure was occurred at the case. And as another design method, when wedge and AL ring was contact condition, the shear stress on adhesive layer was decreased. But the hoop stress of joint part increased due to the sliding behavior of AL ring. Finally, the fail was occurred at the composite case of joint part. The improved joint method reinforced by hoop layer to the joint parts under contact condition for wedge and Al. ring reduced the joint part's hoop strain by constraint the sliding behavior of AL ring.

Substantial experimental and theoretical work exists on the bond characteristics of FRP-concrete adhesive joints. Experimental studies show that the bond strength cannot always increase with an increase in the bond length, and that the ultimate strength is strongly influenced by the concrete strength. To solve this feature, analytic solutions based on fracture mechanics are widely used, and the local shear stress-slip curve with a softening branch is known as more rational model. The analytic solution, however, cannot describe various shapes of model curve. In this study, numerical method using interface element is introduced to express various shapes of model curve. Characteristics of adhesive joint is investigated for the shapes of the model curve and their parameters. And the numerical solutions are compared with the test results of CFRP sheet adhesive joints.
A theoretical method to predict the interfacial stresses in the adhesive layer of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with porous FRP plate is presented in this paper. The effect due to porosity is incorporated utilizing a new modified rule of mixture covering the porosity phases. The adherend shear deformations have been included in the present theoretical analyses by assuming a linear shear stress through the thickness of the adherends. Remarkable effect of the porosity has been noted in the results. Indeed, the resulting interfacial stresses concentrations are considerably smaller than those obtained by other models which neglect the porosity effect. It was found that the interfacial stresses are highly concentrated at the end of the FRP plate, the minimization of the latter can be achieved by using porous FRP plate in particular at the end. It is also shown that the interfacial stresses of the RC beam increase with volume fraction of fibers, but decrease with the thickness of the adhesive layer.
Statement of problem. Soft lining materials, also referred to as tissue conditioning materials, tissue heating materials, relining materials, soft liners or tissue conditioners, were first introduced to dentistry by a plastic manufacturer in 1959. Since the introduction of the materials to the dental field, their material properties have been continually improved through the effort of many researchers. Soft lining materials have become widely accepted, particularly by prosthodontists, because of their numerous clinical advantages and ease of manipulation. Unfortunately, few reports have been issued upon the topic of increasing the bond strength between the base metal alloy used in cast denture bases and PMMA soft liner modified with 4-META, nor upon the pattern of debonding and material change in wet environment like a intra oral situation. Purpose. The purposes of this study were comparing the bond strength between base metal alloy used for the cast denture bases and PMMA soft liner modified with 4-META, and describing the pattern of debonding and material property change in wet environment like the intraoral situation. Material and Methods. This study consisted of four experiments: 1. The in vitro measurement of shear bond strength of the adhesive soft liner. 2. The in vitro measurement of shear bond strength of the adhesive soft liner after 2 weeks of aging. 3. A comparison of debonding patterns. 4. An evaluation the Relation time of modified soft liner. The soft liner used in this study was commercially available as Coe-soft (GC America.IL.,USA), which is provided in forms of powder and liquid. This is a PMMA soft liner commonly used in dental clinics. The metal primer used in this study was 4-META containing primer packed in Meta fast denture base resin (Sun Medical Co., Osaka, Japan). The specimens were formed in a single lap joint desist which is useful for evaluating the apparent shear bond strength of adhesively bonded metal plate by tensile loading. Using the $20{\times}20mm$ transparent grid, percent area of adhesive soft liner remaining on the shear area was calculated to classify the debonding patterns. To evaluate the change of the initial flow of the modified adhesive soft liner, the gelation time was measured with an oscillating rheometer (Haake RS150W/ TC50, Haake Co., Germany). It was a stress control and parallel plate type with the diameter of 35mm. Conclusion. Within the conditions and limitations of this study, the following conclusions were drawn as follows. 1. There was significant increase of bond strength in the 5% 4-META, 10% 4-META containing groups and in the primer coated groups versus the control group(P<0.05). 2. After 2 weeks of aging, no significant increase in bond strength was found except for the group containing 10% 4-META (P<0.05). 3. The gelation times of the modified soft liner were 9.3 minutes for the 5% 4-META containing liner and 11.5 minutes for the 10% 4-META liner. 4. The debonding patterns of the 4-META containing group after 2 weeks of aging were similar to those of immediaely after preparation, but the debonding pattern of the primer group showed more adhesive failure after 2 weeks of aging.
In this paper, a closed-form rigorous solution for interfacial stress in continuous steel beam with variable section strengthened with bonded prestressed FRP plates and subjected to a uniformly distributed load is developed using linear elastic theory and including the variation of fiber volume fractions with a longitudinal orientation of the fibers of the FRP plates. The results show that there exists a high concentration of both shear and normal stress at the ends of the laminate, which might result in premature failure of the strengthening scheme at these locations. The theoretical predictions are compared with other existing solutions. Overall, the predictions of the different solutions agree closely with each other. A parametric study has been conducted to investigate the sensitivity of interface behavior to parameters such as laminate and adhesive stiffness, the thickness of the laminate and the fiber volume fractions where all were found to have a marked effect on the magnitude of maximum shear and normal stress in the composite member. This research gives a numerical precision in relating to the others studies which neglect the effect of prestressed plate and the shear lag impact. The physical and geometric properties of materials are taken into account, and that may play an important role in reducing the interfacial stresses magnitude.
Generally vascular grafts with a relatively large inner diameter (> 5 mm) have been successfully employed for replacement in the human body. However, the use of small diameter grafts is limited, because these grafts rapidly occlude due to the thrombosis. The ideal blood-contacting surface of a prosthesis would be an endothelial cell (EC) lining, because the confluent monolayer of healthy ECs that culture natural blood vessels represents the ideal nonthrombogenic surface. For vascular graft application, the stable EC adhesion on surface under How conditions is very important. In this study, the adhesive strength of ECs attached on polymer surfaces coated with collagen type IV (Col IV), fibronectin (Fn), laminin (Ln), and treated with corona was investigated onto polyurethane (PU) films. The EC-attached PU surfaces were mounted on parallel-plate flow chambers in a How system prepared for cell adhesiveness test. Three different shear stresses (100, 150, and 200 dyne/㎠) were applied to the How chambers and each shear stress was maintained for 120 min to investigate the effect of shear stress and surface treatment condition on the EC adhesion strength. It was observed that the EC adhesion strength on the surface-modified PU films was in the order of Ln≡Fn > Col IV > corona 》 control. More than 70% of the adhered cells were remained on surface-modified PU surface after applying the shear stress,200 dyne/㎠ for 2 hrs, whereas the cells were completely detached on the control PU surface within 10 min after applying the same shear stress. It seems that the type of adsorbed proteins and hydrophilicitv onto the PU surfaces play very important roles for cell adhesion strength.

The problem of interface crack in the bonded structures has received a great deal of attention in recent years. In this paper the aluminum bonded single lap-joint containing the interface edge crack is investigated. The tensile load and the average shear stress of the adhesive joints which have different crack length are obtained from the static tensile tests. The critical value of crack length to provoke the interface fracture is determined to a/L=0.4, where a is the interface crack length and L is the adhesive lap-length. The fracture mechanical parameters are introduced to confirm the existence of the critical crack length. The compliance and the stress intensity factors are calculated using the displacement and the stress near the interface crack tip by the boundary element method. These numerical results support the experimental results that the critical value of a/L is 0.4. It is known that the compliance and the stress intensity factors are the efficient parameters to estimate the bonded single lap-joint containing the interface edge crack.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of mechanical and thermal fatigue stress on the shear, tensile and shear-tensile combined bond strengths(SBS, TBS, CBS) in various orthodontic brackets bonded to human premolars with chemically cured adhesive(Ortho-one, Bisco, USA). Five types of commercially available metal brackets with various bracket base configurations of Photoetched base(Tomy, Japan), Non-Etched Foil Mesh base(Dentaurum, Germany), Micro-Etched Foil Mesh base(Ortho Organizers, USA), Chessboard base(Daesung, Korea), and Integral base(3M Unitek, USA) were used. Samples were divided into 3 groups, the first group was acted with shear-tensile combined loads($45^{\circ}$) of 200g for 4 weeks(mechanical fatigue stress), the second group was subjected to the 5,000 thermocycles of 15 second dwell time each in $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ baths(thermal fatigue stress), and the third group was the control. Bond strengths were measured at the crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min. The cross-section of bracket base/adhesive interface and the fracture surface were examined with the stereoscope and the scanning electron microscope. The resin remnant on bracket base surface was assessed by ART(Adhesive Remnant Index). The obtained results were summarized as follows, 1. In static bond strength, Photoetched base bracket showed the maximum bond strength and Integral base bracket showed the minimum bond strength(p<0.05). In all brackets, shear bond strength(SBS) was in the greatest value and shear-tensile combined strength(CBS) was in the least value(p<0.05). 2. After mechanical fatigue test, Photoetched base bracket showed the maximum bond strength and Integral base bracket showed the minimum bond strength(p<0.05). In Photoetched base bracket and Micro-Etched Foil Mesh base bracket, shear bond strength(SBS), tensile bond strength(TBS) and shear-tensile combined strength(CBS) were decreased after mechanical fatigue test(p
