  • 의학기술의 발달과 건강에 관한 관심도 증가가 투자로 이어지면서 사회 평균 수명이 늘어나게 되었고 이로 인해 노인층이 증가하게 되었다. 노인의 여가 활동으로 컴퓨터를 이용한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 활용도가 증가함에 따라 실버 세대의 디지털 문화 정착에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 노인들의 디지털 콘텐츠 활용을 위해 노인용 문자 입력 시스템을 제안한다. 문자 입력 관련 인터페이스는 전통적으로 키보드에 의존하고 있다. 하지만 노인들의 사용에 있어 많은 키들의 분산된 형태 때문에 인식에 오래 걸리게 되고 모니터와의 분산을 일으켜 집중도를 떨어뜨리는 문제점이 발생한다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 콘솔 게임에서 자주 사용하고 있는 그립형 컨트롤러 인터페이스를 사용하였으며 이에 맞는 문자 배치 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 이를 검증하기 위해 시뮬레이터를 개발하여 20명의 노인들을 대상으로 실시한 테스트에서 그립형 인터페이스에 대한 만족도와 편리성이 증가했음을 나타내는 결론을 도출하였다.

병렬 결합된 비동기 순차 머신을 위한 교정 제어 (Corrective Control of Composite Asynchronous Sequential Machines in Parallel Connection)

  • 이번 연구에서는 병렬 결합된 두 개의 비동기 순차 머신에 대한 교정 제어 문제를 다룬다. 각 비동기 머신은 동일한 외부입력을 받아 서로 독립적인 상태 천이 특성을 보인다. 본 논문에서는 한 개의 교정 제어기만을 이용하여 두 개의 비동기 머신의 폐루프 시스템 동작을 각각의 기준 모델의 동작과 일치시키도록 하는 제어 방법을 제안한다. 본 방법은 교정 제어기 두 개를 사용해야 하는 기존 방법에 비해 제어기 크기 및 계산량을 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 대상 비동기 머신이 입력/상태 유형이라고 설정하고 상태 피드백 교정 제어기가 존재할 조건과 설계 과정을 제시한다. 또 예제 시스템을 통하여 제안된 기법의 적용 과정을 기술한다.

Approaching Near-Capacity on a Multi-Antenna Channel using Successive Decoding and Interference Cancellation Receivers

  • In this paper, we address the problem of designing multirate codes for a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system by restricting the receiver to be a successive decoding and interference cancellation type, when each of the antennas is encoded independently. Furthermore, it is assumed that the receiver knows the instantaneous fading channel states but the transmitter does not have access to them. It is well known that, in theory, minimummean- square error (MMSE) based successive decoding of multiple access (in multi-user communications) and MIMO channels achieves the total channel capacity. However, for this scheme to perform optimally, the optimal rates of each antenna (per-antenna rates) must be known at the transmitter. We show that the optimal per-antenna rates at the transmitter can be estimated using only the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channel in time-varying Rayleigh MIMO channel environments. Based on the results, multirate codes are designed using punctured turbo codes for a horizontal codedMIMOsystem. Simulation results show performances within about one to two dBs of MIMO channel capacity.

불확실한 상태 천이를 가진 입력/상태 비동기 머신을 위한 견실 제어 (Robust Control of Input/state Asynchronous Machines with Uncertain State Transitions)

  • 전역 클럭 없이 동작하는 비동기 순차 머신은 동기 순차 머신에 비해서 속도나 에너지 소비 면에서 장점을 지닌다. 본 논문에서는 불확실한 상태 천이를 가지는 입력/상태 비동기 머신을 위한 견실 제어기를 제안한다. 논문에서 고려하는 비동기 머신은 모델 불확실성, 내부 고장 등으로 인해서 일부 영역의 상태 천이 함수가 불확실하다. 이번 연구에서는 이러한 비동기 머신을 표현하는 유한 상태 머신 식을 제안한 후 일반화된 도달가능성 행렬을 이용하여 머신의 폐루프 동작이 주어진 정상적인 모델의 동작과 일치하도록 하는 비동기 제어기가 존재할 조건을 규명한다. 또한 기존 연구 결과를 바탕으로 비동기 제어기의 설계 과정을 기술하고 폐루프 시스템의 안정 상태 동작을 분석한다.

A Comparison of Visual Occlusion Methods: Touch Screen Device vs. PLATO Goggles

  • Objective: This study compares two visual occlusion methods for the evaluation of in-vehicle interfaces. Background: Visual occlusion is a visual demand measuring technique which uses periodic vision/occlusion cycle to simulate a driving(or mobile) environment. It has been widely used for the evaluation of in-vehicle interfaces. There are two major implementation methods for this technique: (1) occlusion using PLATO(portable liquid crystal apparatus for tachistoscopic occlusion) goggles; (2) occlusion using a software application on a touchscreen device. Method: An experiment was conducted to examine the visual demand of an in-vehicle interface prototype using the goggle-based and the touchscreen-based occlusion methods. Address input and radio tuning tasks were evaluated in the experiment. Results: The results showed that, for the radio tuning task, there were no significant differences in total shutter open time and resumability ratio between the two occlusionconditions. However, it took longer for the participants to input addresses with the touchscreen-based occlusion. Conclusion & Application: The results suggest that touchscreen-based method could be used as an alternative to traditional, gogglebased visual occlusion especially in less demanding visual tasks such as radio tuning.

Robust Transceiver Designs in Multiuser MISO Broadcasting with Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transmission

  • In this paper, we address a new robust optimization problem in a multiuser multiple-input single-output broadcasting system with simultaneous wireless information and power transmission, where a multi-antenna base station (BS) sends energy and information simultaneously to multiple users equipped with a single antenna. Assuming that perfect channel-state information (CSI) for all channels is not available at the BS, the uncertainty of the CSI is modeled by an Euclidean ball-shaped uncertainty set. To optimally design transmit beamforming weights and receive power splitting, an average total transmit power minimization problem is investigated subject to the individual harvested power constraint and the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio constraint at each user. Due to the channel uncertainty, the original problem becomes a homogeneous quadratically constrained quadratic problem, which is NP-hard. The original design problem is reformulated to a relaxed semidefinite program, and then two different approaches based on convex programming are proposed, which can be solved efficiently by the interior point algorithm. Numerical results are provided to validate the robustness of the proposed algorithms.

GIS를 이용한 기저-유출 바탕의 수문모델 (Store-Release based Distributed Hydrologic Model with GIS)

  • Most grid-based distributed hydrologic models are complex in terms of data requirements, parameter estimation and computational demand. To address these issues, a simple grid-based hydrologic model is developed in a geographic information system (GIS) environment using storage-release concept. The model is named GIS Storage Release Model (GIS-StoRM). The storage-release concept uses the travel time within each cell to compute howmuch water is stored or released to the watershed outlet at each time step. The travel time within each cell is computed by combining the kinematic wave equation with Manning's equation. The input to GIS-StoRM includes geospatial datasets such as radar rainfall data (NEXRAD), land use and digital elevation model (DEM). The structural framework for GIS-StoRM is developed by exploiting geographic features in GIS as hydrologic modeling objects, which store and process geospatial and temporal information for hydrologic modeling. Hydrologic modeling objects developed in this study handle time series, raster and vector data within GIS to: (i) exchange input-output between modeling objects, (ii) extract parameters from GIS data; and (iii) simulate hydrologic processes. Conceptual and structural framework of GIS StoRM including its application to Pleasant Creek watershed in Indiana will be presented.

Adaptive Sliding Mode Control Synthesis of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship

  • This paper investigates to design a controller for maritime autonomous surface ship (MASS) by means of adaptive super-twisting algorithm (ASTA). A input-out feedback linearization method is considered for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) is suitable for MASS subject to ocean environments due to its robustness against parameter uncertainties and disturbances. However, conventional SMC has inherent disadvantages so-called, chattering phenomenon, which resulted from the high frequency of switching terms. Chattering may cause harmful failure of actuators such as propeller and rudder of ships. The main contribution of this work is to address an appropriate controller for MASS, simultaneously controls surge and yaw motion in severe step inputs. Proposed control mechanism well provides convergence bewildered by external disturbances in the middle of steady-state responses as well as chattering attenuation. Also, the adaptive algorithm is contributed to reducing non-overestimated value of control gains. Control inputs of surge and yaw motion are displayed by smoother curves without excessive control activities of actuators. Finally, no overshoot can be seen in transient responses.

Operational modal analysis of reinforced concrete bridges using autoregressive model

  • This study focuses on the system identification of reinforced concrete bridges using vector autoregressive model (VAR). First, the time series output response from a bridge establishes the autoregressive (AR) models. AR models are one of the most accurate methods for stationary time series. Burg's algorithm estimates the autoregressive coefficients (ARCs) at p-lag by reducing the sum of the forward and the backward errors. The computed ARCs are assembled in the state system matrix and the eigen-system realization algorithm (ERA) computes: the eigenvector matrix that contains the vectors of the mode shapes, and the eigenvalue matrix that contains the associated natural frequencies. By taking advantage of the characteristic of the AR model with ERA (ARMERA), civil engineering can address problems related to damage detection. Operational modal analysis using ARMERA is applied to three experiments. One experiment is coupled with an artificial neural network algorithm and it can detect damage locations and extension. The neural network uses a specific number of ARCs as input and multiple submatrix scaling factors of the structural stiffness matrix as output to represent the damage.

디지털전관방송을 위한 통합믹서컨트롤러 개발 (Development of Integrated Mixer Controller for Digital Public Address)

  • 최근 IT기술의 발전을 근간으로 PA시스템에 IT기술이 접목된 혁신적인 제품들이 개발되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 전관방송을 위한 통합 믹서 컨트롤러를 제안하였다. 기존 디지털 전관방송을 구성하는 디지털믹서와 디지털 통합 컨트롤러의 기능을 포함한 통합믹서컨트롤러를 개발하였다. 개발된 통합믹서컨트롤러는 16개의 오디오입력채널과 8개의 출력채널을 가진 다채널 믹서 기능을 가진다. 그리고, 디지털오디오신호를 처리하기 위한 EQ, Matrix, Limiter을 가지고 있다. 또한, 개발된 컨트롤러는 믹서의 동작상태 모니터링과 전체 PA시스템을 제어하기 위한 인터넷 연결기능을 가진다.
