Defense M&S for weapons effectiveness is a realistic way to support virtual warfare similar to real warfare. As the war paradigm becomes platform-centric to network-centric, people try to utilize smartphones as the source of sensor, and command/control data in the simulation-based weapons effectiveness analysis. However, there have been limited researches on integrating smartphones into the weapon simulators, partly due to high modeling cost - modeling cost to accomodate client-server architecture, and re-engineering cost to adapt the simulator on various devices and platforms -, lack of efficient mechanisms to exchange large amount of simulation data, and low-level of security. In this paper, we design and implement Smartphone Adaptor to utilize smartphones for the simulationbased weapons effectiveness analysis. Smartphone Adaptor automatically sends sensor information, GPS and motion data of a client's smartphone to a simulator and receives simulation results from the simulator on the server. Also, we make it possible for data to be transferred safely and quickly through JSON and SEED. Smartphone Adaptor is applied to OpenSIM (Open simulation engine for Interoperable Models) which is an integrated simulation environment for weapons effectiveness analysis, under development of our research team. In this paper, we will show Smartphone Adaptor can be used effectively in constructing a Live simulation, with an example of a chemical simulator.
Background: Cytotoxic function of killer cells is inhibited by specific recognition of class I MHC molecules on target cells by inhibitory killer Ig-like receptors (KIR) expressed on NK cells and some cytotoxic T cells. The inhibitory effect of KIR is accomplished by recruitment of SH2-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase (SHP) to the phosphotyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic tail. Methods: By in vitro coprecipitation experiments and transfection analysis, we investigated the association of KIR with an adaptor protein Shc in Jurkat T cells. Results: The cytoplasmic tail of KIR appeared to associate with an adaptor protein Shc in Jurkat T celilysates. Similar in vitro experiments showed that phosphorylated KIR cytoplasmic tail bound SHP-1 and Shc in Jurkat T cell lysates. The association of KIR with Shc was further confirmed by transfection analysis in 293T cells. Interestingly, however, Shc appeared to be replaced by SHP-2 upon engagement of KIR in 293T cells. Conclusion: Our data indicate that KIR associate with an adaptor protein Shc in Jurkat T cells, and suggest that KIR might have an additional role which is mediated by this adaptor protein.
This paper discusses performance evaluation methodologies for wired/wireless Ethernet adaptors. This paper defines test cases for performance evaluation of LAN adaptor and its environments. Performance evaluation of LAN adaptor is mote complex as compared with interconnection devices such as Ethernet HUB and Ethernet switch, because its performance depends on the system on which the adaptor is plugged. Such dependencies include CUP type, RAM size, system bus architecture(PCI bus clock), etc.

본 논문에서는 CORBA(Common Object Request Architecture)기반의 TINA(Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture) 분산체계에서 통신망 하부 장비들이 SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) 혹은 TMN(Telecommunications Management Network) 체계로 혼재되어 관리되는 네트워크의 NE(Network Element)들을 효율적으로 통합 관리할 수 있는 Generic Interface Adaptor(GIA)를 제안하고 이를 설계 및 구현하였다.
Amyloid precursor protein (APP), which is critically involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), is cleaved by gamma/epsilon-secretase activity and results in the generation of different lengths of the APP Intracellular C-terminal Domain (AICD). In spite of its small size and short half-life, AICD has become the focus of studies on AD pathogenesis. Recently, it was demonstrated that AICD binds to different intracellular binding partners ('adaptor protein'), which regulate its stability and cellular localization. In terms of choice of adaptor protein, phosphorylation seems to play an important role. AICD and its various adaptor proteins are thought to take part in various cellular events, including regulation of gene transcription, apoptosis, calcium signaling, growth factor, and $NF-{\kappa}B$ pathway activation, as well as the production, trafficking, and processing of APP, and the modulation of cytoskeletal dynamics. This review discusses the possible roles of AICD in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases including AD.
Engagement of the immunoreceptors initiates signaling cascades resulting in lymphocyte activation and differentiation to effector cells, which are essential for the elimination of pathogens from the body. For the transduction of these immunoreceptor-mediated signals, several linker proteins termed transmembrane adaptor proteins (TRAPs) were shown to be required. TRAPs serve as platforms for the assembly and membrane targeting of the specific signaling proteins. Among seven TRAPs identified so far, LAT and LIME were shown to act as a positive regulator in TCR-mediated signaling pathways. In this review, we will discuss the functions of LAT and LIME in modulating T cell development, activation and differentiation.

The configuration effects of a tumble adaptor which transforms tumble into swirl on the intake tumble characterization under steady flow condition have been investigated by LDV measurement The following parameters were involved to test their effects on tumble-swirl conversion characteristics ; the cylinder height and its bottom shape, measuring position in the swirl induction pipe, and the relative direction of the induction pipe. The short cylinder height and the flat bottom of the tumble adaptor were found effective for the generation of tumble in the cylinder, allowing higher tumble-swirl conversion efficiency.

Proper intracellular transport is essential for normal cell function. Intracellular transport is mediated by microtubule-dependent molecular motor proteins, as well as kinesin and cytoplasmic dynein, which move their cargo along long, microtubule tracks in cells. Kinesins are ATP-dependent plus-end-directed motor proteins in the intracellular transport of organelles, vesicles, RNA complexes, and protein complexes. The mislocalization of these different types of cargo has been linked to cell dysfunction and degeneration. The cargo transport of kinesins can be described by the following steps: binding to the appropriate cargo and/or adaptor proteins, activation of the kinesin's motility and movement along the microtubule, and the release of the cargo at the correct destination. Recently, several studies have revealed the mechanisms for the regulation of kinesin motor activity, including cargo loading and unloading. Intracellular cargo transport is also modulated by adaptor proteins, which link the kinesins to their cargo. The regulatory proteins, which include protein kinases and phosphatases, regulate kinesin motor activity directly through the phosphorylation or dephosphorylation of kinesins and indirectly through the modification of adaptor proteins, such as c-Jun NH-terminal kinase-interacting proteins, or of the microtubule network. These findings lay the groundwork for understanding how kinesins are differentially engaged in intracellular cargo transport. In addition, understanding the regulatory mechanisms of each kinesin is an area of key interest within cell biology and neurophysiology. In this study, we reviewed kinesins' regulation proteins and discuss how their regulation affects cargo recognition and transport.
In subtractive hybridization, target sequences in the tester are enriched by hybridizing with an excess amount of driver, followed by removing the tester hybridized with the driver. All of existing subtractive cloning methods are designed to remove the tester/driver hybrid. The removal of hybrid, however, is often unsatisfactory For various reasons. In this study we developed a subtractive enrichment protocol in which the tester/driver can be completely removed by selecting only the tester/tester after hybridization. In this protocol both the tester and driver DNAs are ligated with same linker DNAs and amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The tester DNA is then digested with two different enzymes and used in subsequent hybridization with an excess driver. After hybridization, the DNA is ligated with the adaptor that is only compatible with the tester/tester. Since only the tester/tester can have the new adaptor, no tester/driver can be amplified by PCR in this protocol. Unlike other methods, a 100% subtraction efficiency can be achieved even though the enzymatic treatments used in the enrichment procedure are incomplete. Furthermore, only the hybridized tester DNA can have the new adaptor and be amplified by PCR, resulting in 100% denaturation in effect. The efficacy of this novel method was verified with the model system in which a known amount of the target sequence is included.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept that describes environments where various things are connected to the Internet. These objects can identify themselves and allow other devices the identify them as well. DLNA focuses on delivering interoperability guidelines based on open industry standards in order to complete cross-industry digital convergence. This paper proposes a two-way DLNA Adaptor and addresses the methodologies of service interoperation of the media contents. In this paper, the designs of the components of the DLNA Adaptor are presented, and the conclusion provides general remarks and a discussion of future work.
