  • With the rapid growth of the Web technologies, the Web has changed teaching and learning as well as our life in various ways. Web-based instruction (WBI) supports self-directed and creative learning at anytime anywhere. However, learners may experience the problems of disorientation and cognitive overload when the hyperspace that consists of learning materials is complex. In this paper, we present a Web-based adaptive hypermedia system based on cognitive load theory which can reduce cognitive loads that novices may experience when they learn programming

  • This paper proposed dynamic adaptive model based on discrete probability distribution function and user profile in web based HyperMedia educational systems. This modelsrepresents application domain to weighted direction graph of dynamic adaptive objects andmodeling user actions using dynamically approach method structured on discrete probability function. Proposed probabilitic analysis can use that presenting potential attribute to useractions that are tracing search actions of user in WebMedia structure. This approach methodscan allocate dynamically appropriate profiles to user.

  • In a winding process, important control specifications include regulation of web tension and velocity. In this research, an adaptive controller has been developed for controlling web tension and velocity in winding processes. For the controller design, the linear quadratic regulator theory has been adopted and a gain-scheduling scheme has been incorporated. A prototype winding system has been constructed, and the controller has been implemented in a real-time PC-based environment. The performance of the closed loop system has been evaluated via simulation and experiments, and it was observed that both the web tension and velocity could be regulated within a small tolerance.

  • In this paper, we propose query restructure method which realizes not only to present the result from database in Web page but also to adapt user's browsing environments. Recently, wireless PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and portable phone and terminals equipped with Web browser become very popular. Various browsers would be required to create the HTML which adapt to the user's browsing environment. We propose an adaptive data presentation system which is an extension of SQL which creates HTML pages dynamically adapting to the size of screen. In our proposed method, the three basic rules for the layout conversion are provided and applying these rules, an efficient layout conversion technique optimized to user environment is proposed. Moreover, we propose a standard for converting layouts and a layout optimization for adaptive conversion of layouts.

  • The development of smart technology has brought the conversion of closed traditional e-learning contents into open flexible smart learning contents consisting of learner-centered modules, without the constraints of time and space by use of smart devices from the uniformed and passive classroom between teachers and learners. It has been demanded an open, personalized and customized teaching and learning contents of smart education and training systems according to wide supply of various smart devices. In this paper, we discuss about the status of the smart teaching and learning systems and analyze the characteristics and structure of the web contents for smart education and training systems by use of smart devices. And we propose a method how to block web contents, to extract them, and adapt personalized segments of web contents by adaptive algorithm into smart learning devices. We extract blocks from the web contents based on the smart device information and the preference information of the learners from existing web contents without the hassle of learners environment. After specifying a block priority from the extracted web contents by the adaptive segment algorithm, it can be displayed directly to the screen to fit the individual learning progress of the learners.

  • In this paper, I discuss the problems of developing web based adaptive hypermedia for education using extensible Markup Language(XML). Adaptive hypermedia systems are capable of altering the Presentation of the contents of the hypermedia on the basis of a dynamic understanding of the individual student. The student profile is contained in a student model, while the knowledge about the domain can be represented in the form of a concept based domain model. Accordingly, I define two different markup languages using XML. The one structures the domain model and the another describes the student model. These language can be easily extended and authored, with the result of obtaining a simple methodology for data structuring in the field of web based educational adaptive hypermedia.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and implementation of the Web-based Individual Computerized Adaptive Testing(CAT) system. The Web-based Individual CAT is a kind of test system to present a set of the problems divided into basic level, intermediate level and advanced level according to the saved results after doing a diagnostic test related to each unit. The diagnostic test is done to pull out the necessary items which learners have to study. The strong points of the web-based computerized adaptive testing system are to reduce the problems of distributed teachers and to have the effect of individual learning by using this system.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the needs of mathematics learning program using web or application for the development of adaptive mathematics learning program. For this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted for middle school students. The results of the 290 responses were analyzed to identify students' needs for adaptive mathematics learning. As a result, learners wanted functions to design their own learning and to support self-directed learning. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for the development of a adaptive mathematics learning program reflecting students' needs.

  • Web services provide an effective means to carry out coordinated transactions between multiple, independent business parties. While there are several specific protocols currently being discussed to address the coordination of web services-enabled business transactions, we consider the tentative hold protocol (THP) that allows the placement of tentative holds on business resources prior to actual transactions in order to provide increased flexibility in coordination. In this paper, we present a formal coordination framework for applying THP in conjunction with 2PC to the problem in which service providers independently manage resources and clients seek to acquire the resources from multiple providers as a single atomic transaction. The proposed framework facilitates the performance optimization of THP through effective parameterization with the notion of overhold size and hold duration. The simulation results show that the proposed adaptive approach yields a significant improvement over other non-adaptive policies.
