  • The tire damage classification method is researched on the periodicity detection of ramdomness ultrasonic signals to occur at the driving vehicle tire. Setting method of adaptive threshold is proposed in order to valid pulse detection by tire damage in ultrasonic noise on the road and used low pass filter for decrease signal ramdomness as preprocessing. Time interval of detected pulse is setted the density function depend on the vehicle's speed and the method of tire damage detection is proposed that measuring the first peak's time of time density function. The result of time density function in case of one damage material, the first peak's time is measured within the error limit of tire's rotation period, 169.8ms and 97.9ms and 81.8ms, about the speed of 50km/h and 80km/h and 100km/h. In case of more than one damage material, the sum of each peak's time is measured within the error limit of tire's rotation period about the speed.

  • Although Snoop protocol can enhance TCP throughput efficiently in a wired-cum-wireless environment, it has a problem in performing local packet retransmissions under a burst error-prone wireless link. AT-Snoop protocol is proposed to cope with this Snoop protocol's problem by adopting adaptive timer. In this paper, TCP throughputs of AT-Snoop protocol have been analyzed with varying wireless link conditions and the ways of setting parameters of AT-Snoop protocol for higher TCP throughput are found out through computer simulations. From the simulation results, AT-Snoop protocol's two parameters, local retransmission threshold value and local retransmission timeout value, are closely related with the fading changing rate. To get higher TCP throughput, local retransmission threshold value and local retransmission timeout value should be set to a little bit larger values than average WSRTT(Wireless Smoothed Round Trip Time) and mean bad period of the wireless link, respectively.

  • This paper describes the design and the verification of IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN 2.4GHz Physical layer for Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN). We designed the Carrier Frequency Offset(CFO) compensation satisfied the frequency tolerance of IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN and the adaptive matched filter that re-setting of the threshold for the symbol synchronization of the various USN environment. The multiplications is reduced 1/16 by this method each other at i, q phases and has 0.5dB performance improvement in detection probability. Proposed baseband system is designed with verilog HDL and implemented using FPGA prototype board.

  • A modified adaptive switching median filter for impulse noise removal, which has the noise detection step and the noise filtering step, is proposed in this paper. In the noise detection step, we use the detection threshold which is earned by calculating the intensity differences between pixels nearby with each other in localized window, to determine whether the pixels in the image are noise or not. Then in the noise filtering step, we will only remove the corrupted pixels and remain the good pixels. By the noise detection result, we can easily get the local noise density of the image, and use it to consider the filtering mask size and the times of filtering iteration according to different localized noise corruptions. For Setting the simulation result, we compared the proposed method to conventional median filters with several test images corrupted by various impulse noise densities. We also use the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) to evaluate restoration performance, the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method shows better results than other median-based type filters.

  • In this paper, the structural-thermal-optical performance analysis of the mirror was performed by setting the laser heat source as the boundary condition of the thermal analysis. For the laser heat source model, the Beer-Lambert model considering semi-transparent optical material based on Gaussian beam was selected as the boundary condition, and the mechanical part was not considered, to analyze the performance of only the mirror. As a result of the thermal analysis, thermal stress and thermal deformation data due to temperature change on the surface of the mirror were obtained. The displacement data of the surface due to thermal deformation was fitted to a Zernike polynomial to calculate the optical performance, through which the performance of the mirror when a high-energy laser was incident on the mirror could be predicted.

  • In this paper, we suggest an architecture of DS/CDMA tranceiver composed of one pilot channel used as reference and multiple traffic channels. The pilot channel-an unmodulated PN code-is used as the reference signal for synchronization of PN code and data demondulation. The coherent demodulation architecture is also exploited for the reverse link as well as for the forward link. Here are the characteristics of the suggested DS/CDMA system. First, we suggest an interlaced quadrature spreading(IQS) method. In this method, the PN coe for I-phase 1st channel is used for Q-phase 2nd channels and the PN code for Q-phase 1st channel is used for I-phase 2nd channel, and so on-which is quite different from the eisting spreading schemes of DS/CDMA systems, such as IS-95 digital CDMA cellular or W-CDMA for PCS. By doing IQS spreading, we can drastically reduce the zero crossing rate of the RF signals. Second, we introduce an adaptive threshold setting for the synchronization of PN code, an initial acquistion method that uses a single PN code generator and reduces the acquistion time by a half compared the existing ones, and exploit the state machines to reduce the reacquistion time Third, various kinds of functions, such as automatic frequency control(AFC), automatic level control(ALC), bit-error-rate(BER) estimator, and spectral shaping for reducing the adjacent channel interference, are introduced to improve the system performance. Fourth, we designed and implemented the DS/CDMA MODEM to be used for variable transmission rate applications-from 16Kbps to 1.024Mbps. We developed and confirmed the DS/CDMA MODEM architecture through mathematical analysis and various kind of simulations. The ASIC design was done using VHDL coding and synthesis. To cope with several different kinds of applications, we developed transmitter and receiver ASICs separately. While a single transmitter or receiver ASC contains three channels (one for the pilot and the others for the traffic channels), by combining several transmitter ASICs, we can expand the number of channels up to 64. The ASICs are now under use for implementing a line-of-sight (LOS) radio equipment.
