  • Application of the Filtered-X LMS adaptive filter to active noise control requires to estimate the transfer characteristics between the output and the error signal of the adaptive canceler. In this paper, we derive an adaptive control algorithm and analyze its convergence behavior when the acoustic noise is assumed to consist of multiple sinusoids. The results of the convergence analysis of the Filtered-X LMS algorithm indicate that the effects of parameter estimation inaccuracy on the convergence behavior of the algorithm are characterize by two distinct components : Phase estimation error and estimated magnitude. In particular, the convergence of the Filtered-X LMS algorithm is shown to be strongly affected by the accuracy of the phase response estimate. Simulation results of the algorithm are presented which support the theoretical convergence analysis.

  • In this paper we proposed a Weight-Update-Control Adaptive Noise Canceller which improves speech when environmental noise is stationary and it is hard to acquire a reference signal. Adaptive Noise Canceller(ANC) needs a reference signal, but it is not easy to measure pure noise without voice for reference in factory. Because there are mixed various mechanical noise and workers' voice. Therefore ANC is not suitable to reduce background noise. So we proposed the method that uses an arbitrary constant as an input signal and inputs microphone signal to the reference signal. The noise is eliminated using updated weights in non-speech range. In speech range the weight is fixed and the modified voice is acquired then voice is restored through transversal filter. The proposed method is based on facts that the factory noise is stationary and the noise is not changed in short conversation range. As a result of simulation using MATLAB, we confirmed that the proposed method is effective for reducing factory noise and has high signal to noise ratio(SNR).

  • The Active Noise Cancelling(ANC) headphone is now becoming commercially available. But it reduces not only noise but also information signals such as speech or some signals including audible information in particular situation. In this paper, we propose an ANC headphone using adaptive beam-forming techniques which cancels signals except the headphone wearer's look direction signal. It enables workers working in noisy condition to talk with their coworkers. Computer simulation is performed to show the effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

  • An alternative inverse feedback structure for adaptive active control of periodic noise is introduced for systems with nonminimum phase cancellation path. To obtain the inverse model of the nonminimum phase cancellation path, the cancellation path model can be factorized into a minimum phase term and a maximum phase term. The maximum phase term containing unstable zeros makes the inverse model unstable. To avoid the instability, we alter the inverse model of the maximum phase system into an anti-causal FIR one. An LMS predictor estimates the future samples of the noise, which are necessary for causality of both anti-causal FIR approximation for the stable inverse of the maximum phase system and time-delay existing in the cancellation path. The proposed method has a faster convergence behavior and a better transient response than the conventional filtered-x LMS algorithms with the same internal model control structure since a filtered reference signal is not required. We compare the proposed methods with the conventional methods through simulation studies.

  • Real-time implementations of the active adaptive noise controller are proposed and tested. There are three problems in active noise control such as real-time processing, an acoustic feedback of secondary signal and a time-delay of control system elements. For real-time processing, the DSP56001 was used. To avoid acoustic feedback, the secondary signal was excluded from prediction. And for compensation of time delay, the ahead prediction was applied. As the primary noise is reflected in space, the reflected noise should be controlled for perfect noise control. But in this case, the controller might be unstable. For solving the problem, it is proposed that the source noise and the reflected noise are predicted separately. Some experimental results show the stability and effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper an adaptive fuzzy PI controller with feedback linearizing meth od is implemented to controlling flux and torque separately in induction motor. In this paper first decoupling of torque and flux which are outputs to be controlled, is achieved by using feedback linearization methodology. Then for reducing the effect of noise and rejection of disturbance, main part of controller which is adaptive PI fuzzy controller, is designed. Coefficients of PI controller are determined by defined fuzzy rules due to error dynamic. Inputs of fuzzy system are defined sliding surfaces which consist of torque and flux errors. The main contribution of this paper is effect reduction of noise and disturbance on torque and flux which is based on fuzzy logic and nonlinear control. At last the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme in presence of noise and load disturbance is simulated and comprised to applying sliding method. The results verify better effectiveness of the proposed method for effect reduction of noise and disturbance.

  • This paper concerns on a non-rotating single-DOF beam-active magnetic bearing(AMB) system subject to arbitrary shaped base motion. In such a system, it is desirable to retain the beam within the predetermined air-gap under foundation excitation. Motivated form this, an adaptive acceleration feedforward control is proposed to reduce the base motion response without deteriorating other feedback control performances. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the acceleration feedforward control.

  • In this paper, a novel variable step-size filtered-x gradient adaptive lattice (NVSS-FxGAL) algorithm for active noise control system is proposed. The gradient adaptive lattice (GAL) algorithm is capable of controlling the narrow band noise effectively. The GAL algorithm can achieve both fast convergence rate and low steady-state level using the variable step-size. However, it suffers from the convergence performance for varying signal characteristic since the global variable step-size is equally applied to all lattice stages. Therefore, the proposed algorithm guarantees the stable and consistency convergence performance by using the local variable step-size for the suitable each lattice stage. Simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm can obtain the fast convergence rate and low steady-state level compared to the conventional algorithms.

  • Traditional adaptive control algorithms are not robust to dynamic uncertainties. The adaptive control algorithms developed previously to deal with dynamic uncertainties do not facilitate quantitative design. We proposed a new robust adaptive control algorithms consists of an $H^{\infty}$ suboptimal control law and a robust parameter estimator. Numerical examples showing the effectiveness of the $H^{\infty}$ adaptive scheme are provided.

  • In active noise control filter, LMS algorithms which used for control filter, assure the convergence property, and computational burden of these algorithms are proportionate to the filter taps. The convergence speed of LMS algorithms is mainly determined by value of the convergence coefficient, so optimal selection of the value of convergence coefficient is very important. In this paper, We proposed novel adaptive fuzzy logic LMS algorithms with FIR filter structure which has better convergence speed and less computational burden than conventional LMS algorithms, for single channel active noise control with ill conditioned signal case. Computer simulations were performed to show the effectiveness of a proposed algorithms.
