This paper proposes new torque control of an induction motor, which is robust against time verying parameters. The control is based on adaptive vector control with serial block adaptive algorithm. Motor parameters used to estimates slip frequency and torque. Frequency mismatch in the control system detrimentally affects slip frequency estimation and torque response. In order to compensate for degradation of the responses an adaptive identifier for the magnetizing inductance and the secondary time constand is introduced. adaptive vector control system consisted of two subsystems, a vector control system realized on synchronous frame and a parameter identification system on stationary frame. the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by some digital simulations.
The principal idea of vibration isolation is to filter out the response of the system over the corner frequency. The isolation objectives are to transmit the attitude control torque within the bandwidth of the attitude control system and to filter all the high frequency components coming from vibration equipment above the bandwidth. However, when a reaction wheels or control momentum gyros control spacecraft attitude, vibration inevitably occurs and degrades the performance of sensitive devices. Therefore, vibration should be controlled or isolated for missions such as Earth observing, broadcasting and telecommunication between antenna and ground stations. For space applications, technicians designing controller have to consider a periodic vibration and disturbance to ensure system performance and robustness completing various missions. In general, past research isolating vibration commonly used 6 degree order freedom isolators such as Stewart and Mallock platforms. In this study, the vibration isolation device has 3 degree order freedom, one translational and two rotational motions. The origin of the coordinate is located at the center-of-gravity of the upper plane. In this paper, adaptive notch filter finds the disturbance frequency and the reference signal in filtered-x least mean square is generated by the notch frequency. The design parameters of the notch filter are updated continuously using recursive least square algorithm. Therefore, the adaptive filtered-x least mean square algorithm is applied to the vibration suppressing experiment without reference sensor. This paper shows the experimental results of an active vibration control using an adaptive filtered-x least mean squares algorithm.

In this paper, we proposed an HF-band wireless power transfer system with adaptive frequency control circuit for efficiency enhancement in a short range. In general, a wireless power transfer system shows an impedance mismatching due to a reflected impedance, because a coupling coefficient is varied with respect to separation distance between two resonating loop antennas. The proposed method can compensate this impedance mismatching by varying input frequency of a voltage-controlled oscillator adaptively with respect to separation distance. Therefore, transmission efficiency is enhanced in a short distance, where large impedance mismatch occurs. The adaptive frequency circuit consists of a directional coupler, a detector, and a loop filter. In order to demonstrate the performance of the proposed system, a wireless power transfer system with adaptive frequency control circuits is designed and implemented, which has a pair of loop antennas with a dimension of 30${\times}$30 $cm^2$. From measured results, the proposed system shows enhanced efficiency performance than the case without adaptive frequency control.

For lightweight and flexible structures, it is important to suppress the vibrations induced by interactions between fluid and structures. This paper presents the PPF/Adaptive control of the vortex-induced vibration of composite beam with rigid cylinder in which the fluid force is considered as an external excitation on the structure. For the problems considered here, the excitation frequency (vortex-shedding frequency) is assumed to be equal to the natural frequency of the structure. A pair of piezoceramic devices attached bottom of the composite structure was used as actuators. Simulation and experiment were carried out with the designed controller and effectiveness of the PPF/Adaptive PPF control was verified by both experimental and simulation results.
In this paper, we propose two control schemes. The first control scheme is an adaptive passivity-based excitation control which regulates the terminal voltage to its reference. This controller is obtained through two steps: firstly, a simple direct adaptive passivation controller is designed for the power system with parametric uncertainties; then a linear PI controller is applied to converge the terminal voltage to its reference. The second control scheme is a linear governor control which consists of the frequency and the mechanical power. It is shown that the internal dynamics are locally stable with controllable damping. In the end, the boundness of all electrical variables, the frequency, the mechanical power, and the convergence of the terminal voltage to its reference can be achieved by these control schemes.
In this paper, we propose a design method of PID adaptive controller based on frequency domain analysis. The method is based on the estimation of a nonparametric process model in the frequency domain and the determination of the PID controller parameters by achieving partial model matching so as to minimize a performance function concerning to relative model error between the loop transfer function of the control system and the desired system. In the design method the process is represented only by a discrete set of points on the Nyquist curve of the process. Therefore it is not necessary to estimate a full order parameterized process model.

In this paper, the feedforward control with least mean square (LMS) adaptive algorithm is proposed and examined to reduce rotating error by runout of an active magnetic bearing system. Using eddy-current type gap sensor fur control, the electrical runout caused by non-uniform material properties of sensor target produces rotational error amplified in feedback control loop, so this runout should be eliminated to increase rotating accuracy. The adaptive feedforward controller is designed and examined its tracking and stability performances numerically with established frequency response function. The tested grinding spindle system is manufactured with a 5.5 ㎾ internal motor and 5-axis active magnetic bearing system including 5 eddy current gap sensors which have approximately 15 ~ 30 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of electrical runout. According to the experimental analysis, the error signal in radial bearings is reduced to less than 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ when it is rotating up to 50,000 rpm due to applying the feedforward control for first order harmonic frequency, and vibration of the spindle base is also reduced about same frequency.

In mechatronic systems using electric signals to drive control systems, driving signals including the frequency band of the unwanted signals, such as resonant frequencies and noise frequencies, can affect the accuracy of the controlled system and can cause serious damage to the system due to the resonance phenomenon of the mechatronic system. An LOS (Line of Sight) control unit is used to automatically rotate the gimbal system with a video imaging system generally mounted on modern aerial vehicles. However, it still suffers from natural frequency variation problems due to variations of operational temperature. To prevent degradation in performance, this paper proposes an adaptive filtering technique based on real-time noise analysis and adaptive notch-filtering for LOS control systems, and verifies how our proposed method maintains the LOS stabilization performance. Additionally, this filtering technique can be applied to the image noise filtering of the video imaging system. It is designed to reduce image noises generated by switching circuits or power sources. The details of design procedures of the proposed filtering technique and the experiments for the performance verification are described in this paper.
This paper presents an approach for designing a fuzzy logic-based adaptive SVC damping In controller for damping low frequency power oscillations. Power systems are often subject to low Frequency electro-mechanical oscillations resulting from electrical disturbances. Generally, power system stabilizers are designed to provide damping against this kind of oscillations. Another means to achieve damping is to design supplementary damping controllers that are equipped with SVC. Various approaches are available for designing such controllers, many of which are based on the concepts of damping torque and others which treat the damping controller design as a generic control problem and apply various control theories on it. In our proposed approach, linear optimal controllers are designed and then a fuzzy logic tuning mechanism is constructed to generate a single control signal. The controller uses the system operating condition and a fuzzy logic signal tuner to blend the control signals generated by two linear controllers, which are designed using an optimal control method. First, we design damping controllers for the two extreme conditions; the control action for intermediate conditions is determined by the fuzzy logic tuner. The more the operating condition belongs to one of the two fuzzy sets, the stronger the contribution of the control signal from that set in the output signal. Simulation studies done on a one-machine infinite-bus and a four-machine two-area test system, show that the proposed fuzzy adaptive damping SVC controller effectively enhances the damping of low frequency oscillations.

The band-width of disk drive servo system is rapidly increasing for the robustness to external disturbance as the track density is increasing. The increase of the band-width may cause mechanical resonance of an actuator. In disk drive servo system, a notch filter is usually used to suppress the mechanical resonance of the actuator. However, the resonance frequency differs from drive to drive because of manufacturing tolerance and varies with temperature even within a single drive. The variation of resonance frequency degrades the suppression performance of the notch filter. In this paper, we present an adaptive digital notch filter that identifies the resonance frequency of the disk drive servo actutaor precisely and adjusts automatically its center frequency. For this, we design an adaptive FIR digital filter for the estimation of the resonance frequency. The estimation filter identifies the resonance frequency adaptively using the output signal generated from the servo system, which is excited with an excitation signal including all the expected resonance frequency components. We prove mathematically the convergence of the resonance frequency estimation filter. Furthermore, in order to demonstrate the practical use of our work, we present some experimental results using a commercially available disk drive.
