In a visual driver-assistance system, separating moving objects from fixed objects are an important problem to maintain multiple hypothesis for the state. Color and edge-based tracker can often be 'distracted' causing them to track the wrong object. Many researchers have dealt with this problem by using multiple features, as it is unlikely that all will be distracted at the same time. In this paper, we improve the accuracy and robustness of real-time tracking by combining a color histogram feature with a brightness of Optical Flow-based feature under a Sequential Monte Carlo framework. And it is also excepted from Tracking as time goes on, reducing density by Adaptive Particles Number in case of the fixed object. This new framework makes two main contributions. The one is about the prediction framework which separating moving objects from fixed objects and the other is about measurement framework to get a information from the visual data under a partial occlusion.

A 12-bit 750 kS/s Dual-Sampling Successive Approximation Register Analog-to-Digital Converter (SAR ADC) technique with reduced Capacitive DAC (CDAC) is presented in this paper. By adopting the Adaptive Power Control (APC) technique for the two-stage latched type comparator and using bootstrap switch, power consumption can be reduced and overall system efficiency can be optimized. Bootstrapped switches also are used to enhance the sampling linearity at a high input frequency. The proposed SAR ADC reduces the average switching energy compared with conventional SAR ADC by adopting reduced the Most Significant Bit (MSB) cycling step with Dual-Sampling of the analog signal. This technique holds the signal at both comparator input asymmetrically in sample mode. Therefore, the MSB can be calculated without consuming any switching energy. The prototype SAR ADC was implemented in $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and occupies $0.728mm^2$. The measurement results show the proposed ADC achieves an Effective Number-of-Bits (ENOB) of 10.73 at a sampling frequency of 750 kS/s and clock frequency of 25 MHz. It consumes only 0.13 mW from a 5.0-V supply and achieves the INL and DNL of +2.78/-2.45 LSB and +0.36/-0.73 LSB respectively, SINAD of 66.35 dB, and a Figures-of-Merit (FoM) of a 102 fJ/conversion-step.
Recent advancements in wireless networks have enabled support for mobile applications to transfer data over heterogeneous wireless paths in parallel using data striping technique [2]. Traditionally, high performance data transfer requires tuning of multiple TCP sockets, at sender's end, based on bandwidth delay product (BDP). Moreover, traditional techniques like Automatic TCP Buffer Tuning (ATBT), which balance memory and fulfill network demand, is designed for wired infrastructure assuming single flow on a single socket. Hence, in this paper we propose a buffer tuning technique at senders end designed to ensure high performance data transfer by striping data at transport layer across heterogeneous wireless paths. Our mechanism has the capability to become a resource management system for transport layer connections running on multi-homed mobile host supporting features for wireless link i.e. mobility, bandwidth fluctuations, link level losses. We show that our proposed mechanism performs better than ATBT, in efficiently utilizing memory and achieving aggregate throughput.
Generally, treated water or raw water is transported into storage reservoirs which are receiving facilities of local governments from multi-regional water supply systems. A water supply control and operation center is operated not only to manage the water facilities more economically and efficiently but also to mitigate the shortage of water resources due to the increase in water consumption. To achieve the goal, important information such as the flow-rate in the systems, water levels of storage reservoirs or tanks, and pump-operation schedule should be considered based on the resonable water demand forecasting. However, it is difficult to acquire the pattern of water demand used in local government, since the operating information is not shared between multi-regional and local water systems. The pattern of water demand is irregular and unpredictable. Also, additional changes such as an abrupt accident and frequent changes of electric power rates could occur. Consequently, it is not easy to forecast accurate water demands. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce a short-term water demands forecasting and to develop an application of the forecasting models. In this study, the forecasting simulator for water demand is developed based on mathematical and neural network methods as linear and non-linear models to implement the optimal water demands forecasting. It is shown that MLP(Multi-Layered Perceptron) and ANFIS(Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) can be applied to obtain better forecasting results in multi-regional water supply systems with a large scale and local water supply systems with small or medium scale than conventional methods, respectively.

In this paper we have designed and implemented in real time a simple, efficient and flexible AOPCM cosec using a high speed digital processor, NEC 7720. For ADPCM system, we have used an instantaneous adaptive quantizer and a first-order fixed predictor. The software for NEC 7720 has been developed and it was found that the NEC 7720 was capable of performing the entire ADPCAt algorithm for 4 channels in real time as optimizing the program. Computer simulation has born made to investigate a computational accuracr of NEC 7720 and to de-termine necessary parameters for a ADPCM codec. Real telephone speech, RC-shaped Gaussian noise and 1004 Hz tone signal were used for simulation. In simulation, the parameters werc optimized from the computed SNR and the informal listening test. The developed software was tested in real time operation using a hardware emulator for NEC 7720. It took a maximum 23.25$\mu$s to encode one sample and 113.5$\mu$s, including all the necessary 1/0 operations, to encode 4 channels. In the case of decoding process, it took 24.75$\mu$s to decode one sample and 119.5$\mu$s to decode 4 channels.

In daily life, there are many information broadcasting by using voice information systems. If surrounding noises are mixed with the information signals, the clarity of the signal become down graded too much to understand. Surrounding noises are not uniformed, but very irregular signals always changing. Therefore, it is very hard to control the output signals along with the irregular signals. This paper suggests a method to change the level of the voice information adapting to the surround noise in the white noise environment. The surround noise level is measured by subtracting the stored output voice signal from the voice signal degraded by the noise. The noise is used to estimation of SNR. And, the method to change the output level of voice signal adapting to the noise level. The suggested adaptive voice information system has the advantage to improve listeners' speech perception and to use amplifier's energy effectively.

The capability to bilaterally telemanipulate soft-tissues for medical applications could increase the quality of telemanipulation systems. Since most soft-tissue manipulation tasks include constrained motion interacting with an unknown and dynamic bioenvironment through contact, bilateral telemanipulation raises problems due to stability and transparency issues. It is well understood that knowledge of environments plays an important role in pursuing transparent telemanipulation and achieving telepresence, and in particular, online estimation of environmental parameters with an explicit environment model can improve these systems' performance. In this study, a continuum mechanics-based environment model with an online environmental property estimation algorithm and an adaptive telemanipulation control scheme is proposed. The proposed method can improve the telemanipulation performance in terms of stability and transparency and can offer valuable information (e.g., elastic modulus of soft tissues) pertaining to diagnostic examinations.

In this paper, a joint PHY-MAC layer optimized resource allocation scheme for OFDMA based micro base stations is investigated. We propose cross-layer optimized two-stage resource allocation scheme including cross-layer functional description and control information flow between PHY-MAC layers. The proposed two-stage resource allocation scheme consists of a user grouping stage and a resource allocation stage. In the user grouping stage, users are divided into a macro base station user group and a micro base station user group based on the PHY-MAC layer characteristics of each user. In the resource allocation stage, a scheduling scheme and an allotment of resources are determined. In the proposed scheme, diversity and adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) schemes are exploited as schedulers. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme increases the average cell throughput about 40~80 % compared to the conventional system without micro base stations.
In this paper, we describe a study of a vehicle detection method based on a Boosting Classifier which uses Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) features and Image Segmentation techniques. An input image is segmented by means of a split and merge algorithm. Then, the two largest segmented regions are removed in order to reduce the search region and speed up processing time. The HOG features are then calculated for each pixel in the search region. In order to detect the vehicle region we used the AdaBoost (adaptive boost) method, which is well known for classifying samples with two classes. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, 537 training images were used to train and learn the classifier, followed by 500 non-training images to provide the recognition rate. From these experiments we were able to detect the proper image 98.34% of the time for the 500 non-training images. In conclusion, the proposed method can be used for detecting the location of a vehicle in an intelligent vehicle control system.

Artificial life is used in various fields of applied science by evaluating natural life-related systems, their processes, and evolution. Research has been actively conducted to evolve physical body design and behavioral control strategies for the dynamic activities of these artificial life forms. However, since co-evolution of shapes and neural networks is difficult, artificial life with optimized movements has only one movement in one form and most do not consider the environmental conditions around it. In this paper, artificial life that co-evolve bodies and neural networks using predator-prey models have environmental adaptive movements. The predator-prey hierarchy is then extended to the top-level predator, medium predator, prey three stages to determine the stability of the simulation according to initial population density and correlate between body evolution and population dynamics.
