  • This paper related with the VSS_SE-MMA (Varying Step Size_Signed Error-MMA) which possible to improving the equalization performance that employing the varying adaptive step size based on the nonlinearities of error signal of SE-MMA (Signed Error-MMA), compensates the intersymbol interference by distortion occurs at the communication channel, in the transmitting the spectral efficient nonconstant modulus signal such as 16-QAM. The SE-MMA appeared to the reducing the computational arithematic operation using the polarity of error signal in the updating the tap coefficient of present MMA adaptive equalizer, but have a problem of equalization performance degradation. The VSS_SE-MMA improves the problem of such SE-MMA, using the varying step size consider the error signal in the update the adaptive equalizer tap coefficient, and its improved performance were confirmed by simulation. For this, the output signal constellation of equalizer, the residual isi and maximum distortion, MSE and SER were applied. As a result of computer simulation, it was confirmed that the VSS_SE-MMA algorithm has nearly same in convergence speed and has more good performance in every performance index at the steady state.

  • The adaptive power control of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems for communications between User Equipments (UEs) with a link-budget based Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SIR) estimate which has distance information is applied to three inner loop power control algorithms. The speed estimation performances of these algorithms with their consecutive Transmit-Power-Control (TPC) ratios are compared to each other, and it is concluded that the speed can be estimated using the TPC ratio information of Consecutive TPC Ratio Step-size Closed Loop Power Control (CS-CLPC) and Fixed Step-size Power Control (FSPC).

  • A novel steepest descent adaptive filter algorithm, which uses the instantaneous stochastic gradient for the steepest descent direction, is derived from a newly devised performance index function. The performance function for the new algorithm is improved from that for the LMS in consideration that the stochastic steepest descent method is utilized to minimize the performance index iterativly. Through mathematical analysis and computer simulations, it is verified that there are substantial improvements in convergence and misadjustments even though the computational simplicity and the robustness of the LMS algorithm are hardly sacrificed. On the other hand, the new algorithm can be interpreted as a variable step size adaptive filter, and in this respect a heuristic method is proposed in order to reduce the noise caused by the step size fluctuation.

  • This paper proposes ADAPTIVE STOCHASTIC ITERATION ALGORITHM that can be used for the full-duplex digital data transmission over existing twisted-pair cables. The canceller step size changes according to the residual echo level. Thus convergence speed increases by an order of magnitude over the conventional stochastic interation alogorithm. And it can be combined with the sequential type adaptive digital filter that simplifies the conventional echo canceller circuit. Thus it is suitable for LSI implementation. Theoretical analysis on two algorithms is carried out and the algorithm simulation program is developed.

  • The presence of narrowband interference (NBI) in Direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems is an inevitable problem when the interference is strong enough. The improvement in the system performance employs by adaptive narrowband interference suppression techniques. Basically there have been two types of method for narrowband interference suppression estimator/subtracter approaches and transform domain approaches. In this paper the focus is on the type of estimator/subtracter approaches. However, the binary direct sequence (DS) signal, that acts as noise in the prediction process is highly non-Gaussian. The case of a Gaussian interferer with known in an autoregressive (AR) signal or a digital signal and also in a sinusoidal signal (Tone) that included in is paper. The proposed NBI suppression is presence in an adaptive IIR notch filter for lattice structure and more powerful by using a variable step-size algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly increase the convergence rate and improved system performance when compare with adaptive least mean square algorithm (LMS).

  • This paper proposes adaptive incremental conductance(A-IC) algorithm for maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of photovoltaic. Conventional Perturbation & Observation(PO) and IC MPPT control algorithm generally uses fixed step size. A small fixed step size will cause the tracking speed to decrease and tracking accuracy of the MPP will decrease due to large fixed step size. Therefore, this paper proposes N-IC MPPT algorithm that adjust automatically step size according to operating conditions. To improve tracking speed and accuracy, when operating point is far from maximum power point(MPP), step size uses maximum value and when operating point is near from MPP, step size uses variable step size that adjust according to slope of P-V curve. The validity of MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper prove through compare with conventional IC MPPT algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose two novel blind LMS algorithms, called exponential step sire LMS algorithms (ES-LMS), for adaptive array antennas whose convergence speed is increased, hence they are much more capable of tracking the desired signal than the conventional LMS algorithms. Both of the algorithms require neither spatial knowledge nor reference signals since they use the finite symbol property of digital signal. Computer simulations were carried cot in CDMA environment affected by multi-path Rayleigh fading to verify the performance of the two proposed algorithms.

  • With considering center-biased characteristic, NTSS(New Three-Step Search Algorithm) can improve the performance of TSS(Three-Step Search Algorithm) which is one of the most popular fast block matching algorithms(BMA) to search a motion vector in a video sequence. Although NTSS has generally better Quality than TSS for a small motion sequence, it is hard to say that NTSS can provide better quality than TSS for a large motion sequence. It even deteriorates the quality to increase a search window size using NTSS. In order to address this drawback, this paper aims to develop a new adaptive window size-based three step search scheme, called AWTSS, which can improve quality at various window sizes in both the small and the large motion video sequences. In this scheme, the search window size is dynamically changed to improve coding efficiency according to the characteristic of motion vectors. AWTSS can improve the video quality more than 0.5dB in case of large motion with keeping the same quality in case of small motion.

  • Least mean square adaptive algorithms have played important role in radar, sonar, speech processing, and mobile communication. In mobile communication area, the convergence rate of a LMS algorithm is quite important. However, LMS algorithms have slow and non-uniform convergence rate problem For overcoming these shortcomings, various variable step LMS adaptive algorithms have been studied in recent years. Most of these recent LMS algorithms have used complex variable step methods to get a rapid convergence. But complex variable step methods need a high computational complexity. Therefore, the main merits such as the simplicity and the robustness in a LMS algorithm can be eroded. The proposed deterministic variable step LMS algorithm is based upon a simple deterministic function for the step update so that the simplicity of the proposed algorithm is obtained and the fast convergence is still maintainable.
