We propose an adaptive image enhancement method for epigraphic images, which is based on local statistics. Local statistics of the image are utilized for adaptive realization of the enhancement, that controls the contribution of the smoothing or sharpening paths. Image contrast enhancement occurs in details and noises are suppressed in smooth areas. For modeling the epigraphic image, pre~process is achieved by HSDI(Hanzi squeezed digital image). We have calculated the local statistics from this HSDI model. Application of this approach to HSDI has shown that processing not only smooths the background areas but also improves the subtle variations of edges, so that the word regions can be enhanced. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance than the conventional image enhancement ones.

An advanced design environment , which is based on adaptive and knowledge -based finite elements (INTELMESH), has been developed. Unlike other approaches, INTEMMESH incorporates the information about the object geometry as well as the boundary and loading conditions to generate an ${\alpha}$-priori finite element mesh which is more refined around the critical regions of the problem domain. INTEMMESH is designed for planar domains and axisymmetric 3-D structures of elasticity and heat transfer subjected to mechanical and thermal loading . It intelligently identifies the critical regions/points in the problem domain and utilize the new concepts of substructuring and wave propagation to choose the proper mesh size for them. INTEMMESH generates well-shaped triangular elements by applying trangulartion and Laplacian smoothing procedures. The adaptive analysis involves the intial finite elements analyze and an efficient ${\alpha}$-posteriori error analysis involves the initial finite element anal sis and an efficient ${\alpha}$-posteriori error analysis and estimation . Once a problem is defined , the system automatically builds a finite element model and analyzes the problem though automatic iterative process until the error reaches a desired level. It has been shown that the proposed approach which initiates the process with an ${\alpha}$-priori, and near optimum mesh of the object , converges to the desired accuracy in less time and at less cost. Such an advanced design/analysis environment will provide the capability for rapid product development and reducing the design cycle time and cost.

In this paper, we propose a design of GPS anti-jamming system and its operational method, which can effectively suppress interference and jamming signals induced in GPS receiver. The 7-array antenna used in the proposed system is composed of conventional 6 equi-spaced circular elements with one element on the center of antenna and can be efficiently operated under power-constrained conditions. Futhermore, in this paper, we analyze the structure and complexity of STAP and SFAP which are well known techniques in adaptive array antenna signal processing, and we compare the BER performances between STAP and SFAP in various jamming environment based on the same complexity.

Active noise control is an approach to noise reduction in which a secondary noise source that destructively interferes with the unwanted noise. In general, active noise control systems rely on multiple sensors to measure the unwanted noise field and the effect of the cancellation. This paper develops an approach that utilizes a single sensor. The noise field is modeled as a stochastic process, and a time-adaptive algorithm is used to adaptively estimate the parameters of the process. Based on these parameter estimates, a canceling signal is generated. Opppenheim model assumed that transfer function characteristics from the canceling source to the error sensor is only propagation delay. But this paper proposes a modified Oppenheim model by considering transfer characteristics of acoustic device and noise path. This transfer characteristics is adaptively cancelled by adaptive model. This is proved by computer simulation with artifically generated random noise and sine wave noise. The details of the proposed architecture, and theoretical simulation and experimental results of the noise cancellation system for three dimension enclosure are presented in the paper.

In this paper, an adaptive model predictive controller for nodinear processes using fuzzy model is proposed. Adaptive structure is implemented by recursive fuzzy modeling. The model and control law can be obtained the same as GPC, because the consequent parts of the fuzzy model comprise linear equations of input and output variables. The proposed Adaptive fuzzy model predictive controller (AFMPC) controls nonlinear process well due to the intrinsic nonlinearity of the fuzzy model. When AFMPC's output is variation in the process control input, it maintains zero steady-state offset for a constant reference input and has superior performance. The properties and performance of the proposed control scheme were examined with nonlinear plant by simulation.

In general, a speaker generates nonlinear distortions owing to a design principle, manufacturing process, and so on, which decreases and changes a sound quality. So, if the speaker is linearized by compensating these nonlinear distortions, the sound quality and satisfaction can be increased. In this paper, a new adaptive controller was proposed to be applied for compensating nonlinear distortions of a speaker. Through computer simulations as well as the analytical analysis, it could be shown that it is possible for both conventional adaptive controller and proposed adaptive controller, to be applied for linearizing the speaker with nonlinear distortions. Also, the simulations results demonstrated that the proposed adaptive controller may have faster convergence speed and better capability of compensating the nonlinear distortion than the conventional adaptive controller with nearly equal computation complexity.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to explain in detail the factors of the father's play interaction that predict children's adaptive emotional regulation. This study examined the moderated mediation effect of a father's rough-and-tough play toward a child's emotional expressiveness and the father's play participation attitude on the child's adaptive emotional regulation. Methods: The study participants included 309 fathers of children aged from 3 to 5 years. Data were analyzed using models of the PROCESS Macro. Results: As a result of this research, the relationship of the father's rough-and-tough play with the child's adaptive emotional regulation was that this was indeed mediated by the child's negative emotional expressiveness. Additionally, the father's responsive and fun play attitude moderated the relationship between the father's rough-and-tough play and the child's adaptive emotional regulation. Further, the father's responsive and fun play attitude according to level had a moderated mediation effect. Conclusion/Implications: These results are meaningful in that they derives a mechanism for why and how a father's rough-and-tough play affects children's adaptive emotional regulation.
A central problem of mathematics teaching worldwide is probably the insufficient adaptive handling of tasks-especially in computational practice phases and modeling tasks. All students in a classroom must often work on the same tasks. In the process, the high-achieving students are often underchallenged, and the low-achieving ones are overchallenged. This publication uses different modeling of the tennis serve as an example to show a possible solution to the problem and develops and discusses one adaptive task each for middle school, high school, and college using three mathematical models of the tennis serve each time. From model to model within the task, the complexity of the modeling increases, the mathematical or physical demands on the students increase, and the new modeling leads to more realistic results. The proposed models offer the possibility to address heterogeneous learning groups by their arrangement in the surface structure of the so-called parallel adaptive task and to stimulate adaptive mathematics teaching on the instructional topic of mathematical modeling. Models A through C are suitable for middle school instruction, models C through E for high school, and models E through G for college. The models are classified in the specific modeling cycle and its extension by a digital tool model, and individual modeling steps are explained. The advantages of the presented models regarding teaching and learning mathematical modeling are elaborated. In addition, we report our first teaching experiences with the developed parallel adaptive tasks.

Recently, ultra-low latency flash storage devices such as Z-SSD and Optane SSD were introduced with the significant technological improvement in the storage devices which provide much faster response time than today's other NVMe SSDs. With such ultra-low latency, $10{\mu}s$, storage devices the cost of context switch could be an overhead during interrupt-driven I/O completion process. As an interrupt-driven I/O completion process could bring an interrupt handling overhead, polling or hybrid-polling for the I/O completion is known to perform better. In this paper, we analyze tail latency problem in a polling process caused by process scheduling in data center environment where multiple applications run simultaneously under one system and we introduce our adaptive polling selection technique which dynamically selects efficient processing method between two techniques according to the system's conditions.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive tutoring system, which analyzes learning process, subject materials, and test items of students, diagnoses learning problems of them, and then gives proper advice accordingly. In the system, learning materials are constructed using concept map, on which the relationships among learning concepts are represented. Concept map can be used for several purposes in instruction process. Our work considers that new learning knowledge is dependent on what is already known. That is, it means that precedent concepts should be thoroughly learned for students to comprehend new concepts. After grasping the learning state of students for precedent concepts to be required before learning new concepts, our system provides proper learning materials for want of them, diagnoses the concepts which students have trouble to understand in the learning process, and provides suggestions for it.
