  • This paper presents a new dynamic range compression method using region-adaptive gamma correction. Gamma corrections with different gamma coefficients are first applied to the observed image to generate several candidate images. Then, the proposed method produces the result image by adequately combining them according to the weight function based on local variances. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly enhances image quality by bringing out the details not only in dark region but also in bright region.

  • Wall interference is one of the major obstacles to increase the model size and data accuracy. There have been many treatments for wall interference including interference correction and adaptive wall test section. Recently, two-flexible-walled adaptive wall test section is concluded adequate for three-dimensional test. But proper location of target line and pressure holes are critical to its success. In this study, a new adaptive algorithm which dispenses target line and dependency of pressure hole distribution is suggested. The wind tunnel and free air tests are simulated by the numerical computation of Euler equations. The optimum wall shape is achieved by two variable optimization which is composed of two base streamlines. The wall interference is reduced well in the optimized result which is not sensitive to the base streamlines.

  • As a kind of personal lifelog data, activity data have been considered as one of the most compelling information to understand the user's habits and to calibrate diagnoses. In this paper, we proposed a robust algorithm to sampling rates for human activity recognition, which identifies a user's activity using accelerations from a triaxial accelerometer in a smartphone. Although a high sampling rate is required for high accuracy, it is not desirable for actual smartphone usage, battery consumption, or storage occupancy. Activity recognitions with well-known algorithms, including MLP, C4.5, or SVM, suffer from a loss of accuracy when a sampling rate of accelerometers decreases. Thus, we start from particle swarm optimization (PSO), which has relatively better tolerance to declines in sampling rates, and we propose PSO with an adaptive boundary correction (ABC) approach. PSO with ABC is tolerant of various sampling rate in that it identifies all data by adjusting the classification boundaries of each activity. The experimental results show that PSO with ABC has better tolerance to changes of sampling rates of an accelerometer than PSO without ABC and other methods. In particular, PSO with ABC is 6%, 25%, and 35% better than PSO without ABC for sitting, standing, and walking, respectively, at a sampling period of 32 seconds. PSO with ABC is the only algorithm that guarantees at least 80% accuracy for every activity at a sampling period of smaller than or equal to 8 seconds.

  • Since the wireless smart card has played a main role in the identification security application for the building access; this research has its purpose to improve the performance of the smart card system and aims to offer more convenient to user. The contactless cards do not require insertion into a card reader and can work up to centimeters away from the reading device. To be able to cope with this performance the controlling of power consumption through the adaptive modulation and error control is needed. This paper addresses a forward error control (FEC) scheme with the adaptive Reed-Solomon code rate and an M-ary frequency shift keying (M-FSK) modulation scheme with the varying symbol size M over the link. The result of comparing energy efficiencies of adaptive error correction and adaptive modulation to other various static schemes shows to save over 50% of the energy consumption.

This system is based on the changeable Forward Error Correction(FEC) coding and re-transmission to enhance system quality by using the measured real-time network value such as loss, delay and jitter.

• Reed-Solomon(RS) code is the most powerful burst error correcting code. In Ois paper, the architecture for the adaptive RS encoder adaptable for multi QoS requirements or time-varying channel environments has been designed. In the adaptive RS code, the message length k and the error correction capability t are allowed to be variable so that the block length n is also variable. We proposed the architecture of the adaptive RS encoder by designing the optimal structure of Galois fields multiplier with comparison of fixed multiplier and variable multiplier. The proposed architecture is implemented in VHDL and verified with the simulation tool

  • A combined procedure for two-dimensional Delaunay mesh generation algorithm and an adaptive remeshing technique with higher-order compressible flow solver is presented. A pseudo-code procedure is described for the adaptive remeshing technique. The flux-difference splitting scheme with a modified multidimensional dissipation for high-speed compressible flow analysis on unstructured meshes is proposed. The scheme eliminates nonphysical flow solutions such as the spurious bump of the carbuncle phenomenon observed from the bow shock of the flow over a blunt body and the oscillation in the odd-even grid perturbation in a straight duct for the Quirk's odd-even decoupling test. The proposed scheme is further extended to achieve higher-order spatial and temporal solution accuracy. The performance of the combined procedure is evaluated on unstructured triangular meshes by solving several steady-state and transient high-speed compressible flow problems.
