고속 온라인 적응기능을 갖는 비선형 적응등화기 (A nonlinear adaptive equalizer with fast on-line adaptation)

  • This paper proposes a nonlinear adaptive equalizer which is based on fuzzy rules and fuzzy inference of several affine mapping for the received channel data. The proposed nolonlinear adaptive equalizers with the significantly lower computational complexity. Also it can be applied to the on-line adaptation environments owing to its fast convergence characteristics and the lower computational load. When using the decision feedback vectors, this equaalizer can be easily realized in the form of the DFE structure with out the requirement for the perfect channel knowledge as in the case of the fuzzy adaptive filter.

Link Adaptation and Selection Method for OFDM Based Wireless Relay Networks

  • We propose a link adaptation and selection method for the links constituting an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless relay network. The proposed link adaptation and selection method selects the forwarding, modulation, and channel coding schemes providing the highest end-to-end throughput and decides whether to use the relay or not. The link adaptation and selection is done for each sub-channel based on instantaneous signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) conditions in the source-to-destination, source-to-relay and relay-to-destination links. The considered forwarding schemes are amplify and forward (AF) and simple adaptive decode and forward (DF). Efficient adaptive modulation and coding decision rules are provided for various relaying schemes. The proposed end-to-end link adaptation and selection method ensures that the end-to-end throughput is always larger than or equal to that of transmissions without relay and non-adaptive relayed transmissions. Our evaluations show that over the region where relaying improves the end-to-end throughput, the DF scheme provides significant throughput gain over the AF scheme provided that the error propagation is avoided via error detection techniques. We provide a frame structure to enable the proposed link adaptation and selection method for orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)-time division duplex relay networks based on the IEEE 802.16e standard.

Amiable Composition in International Arbitration

  • Amiable composition is a means of dispute resolution based on the arbitrator's authority to base his decision on equity. Although this method has been used frequently in the last decades of the 20th Century, the number of the published awards by amiable compositeur arbitrators is getting lower and lower. The reason(s) for unpopularity of amiable composition should be sought in its very nature, in its relationships with other institutions such as arbitration in law, equity, ex aequo et bono arbitration, other means of dispute resolution and in its role in the development of the rules specific to international commerce. A brief look at the history of law shows that the concept of equity comes to the scene every time that the rigidity of the rules of law challenges the justice. This has been the case in the 20th Century with respect to international commercial law which was deprived of specific rules. The role of amiable composition has been to contribute to the development of the rules specific to international commerce. The progressive codification of such rules in the last decades is also owed to amiable composition, which has accomplished its mission in the evolution of these rules.

편입과정을 거쳐 입사한 신규간호사의 적응경험 (Adaptation to Clinical Experience by Older Graduate Nurses who Entered Nursing after Graduation in Another Field)

  • Purpose: With the increasing opportunities for students to transfer into nursing from other departments or after graduation, it is important to examine how these students adapt to clinical work in the hospital setting after graduation. This study was done to describe the adaptation experience of older graduate nurses in hospital settings and to understand the meanings and search the nature of their experience. Method: For this study, the participants were 6 nurses who entered nursing after having graduated from college or university in another field. The data were collected through in-depth interviews from March to April 2007 and analyzed by Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: The essential themes of the adaptation experience for older graduate nurses were the following 6 categories: taking responsibilities for the expected role according to one's age, following the rules of senior-junior hierarchy, being ambivalent about one's older age, expanding one's support system, getting rid of the concept of age difference and establishing the expected position appropriate for one's career. Conclusion: For older graduate nurses, interpersonal relationship factors were more important than work related factors. Therefore, it is important to create a more flexible nursing culture to ease the adaptation of these older graduate nurses.

Development of Case-adaptation Algorithm using Genetic Algorithm and Artificial Neural Networks

  • In this research, hybrid method with case-based reasoning and rule-based reasoning is applied. Using case-based reasoning, design experts'experience and know-how are effectively represented in order to obtain a proper configuration of midship section in the initial ship design stage. Since there is not sufficient domain knowledge available to us, traditional case-adaptation algorithms cannot be applied to our problem, i.e., creating the configuration of midship section. Thus, new case-adaptation algorithms not requiring any domain knowledge are developed antral applied to our problem. Using the knowledge representation of DnV rules, rule-based reasoning can perform deductive inference in order to obtain the scantling of midship section efficiently. The results from the case-based reasoning and the rule-based reasoning are examined by comparing the results with various conventional methods. And the reasonability of our results is verified by comparing the results wish actual values from parent ship.

  • Due to the increasing use of very large databases, mining useful information and implicit knowledge from databases is evolving. However, most conventional data mining algorithms identify the relationship among features using binary values (TRUE/FALSE or 0/1) and find simple If-THEN rules at a single concept level. Therefore, implicit knowledge and causal relationships among features are commonly seen in real-world database and applications. In this paper, we thus introduce the mechanism of mining fuzzy association rules and constructing causal knowledge base form database. Acausal knowledge base construction algorithm based on Fuzzy Cognitive Map(FCM) and Srikant and Agrawal's association rule extraction method were proposed for extracting implicit causal knowledge from database. Fuzzy association rules are well suited for the thinking of human subjects and will help to increase the flexibility for supporting users in making decisions or designing the fuzzy systems. It integrates fuzzy set concept and causal knowledge-based data mining technologies to achieve this purpose. The proposed mechanism consists of three phases: First, adaptation of the fuzzy membership function to the database. Second, extraction of the fuzzy association rules using fuzzy input values. Third, building the causal knowledge base. A credit example is presented to illustrate a detailed process for finding the fuzzy association rules from a specified database, demonstration the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, a simple hierarchical fuzzy inference system using structured Takagi-Sugeno type fuzzy inference units(SFIUs) is proposed. The number of fuzzy rules of the proposed HFIS is minimum in the sense of that only the number of partitions of each system variables, not of intermediate outputs of layered fuzzy controllers, are concerned. And resulted number of fuzzy rules is a summation of partition in each system variables. Gradient descent algorithm is used for adaptation of fuzzy rules. The ball and beam control is performed in computer simulation to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

독서치료 프로그램이 초등학생의 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향 - 상호작용 놀이 활동을 중심으로 - (The Effects of Bibliotherapy Program on Elementary School Students' Adaptation to School Life: Based on Play oriented interaction)

  • 이 연구는 상호작용 놀이 활동 독서치료 프로그램이 초등학교 저학년 학생의 학교생활 적응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 그 효과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 서울시 K구에 위치한 초등학교 2학년 학생을 대상으로 학교생활 적응력 향상을 위한 상호작용 놀이 활동 독서치료 프로그램을 설계하여 학교도서관에서 회기별 90분씩 총 12회기로 실시하였으며, 효과 측정을 위하여 학교생활 적응도 검사와 동적 학교생활화 검사를 독서치료 프로그램 사전과 사후에 실시하였다. 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상호작용 놀이 활동 독서치료 프로그램은 초등학교 2학년 일반학생의 학교생활 적응 전체에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교생활 적응의 하위요인인 교사관계, 교우관계, 학교수업, 학교규칙 준수에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.

As Rumi Travels along the Silk Road in Feminist Costume: Shafak's The Forty Rules of Love

  • Transnational exchange has been an inseparable part of both the ancient and modern Silk Road. This paper shows how Rumi (1207-1273), a famous Persian Sufi poet, travels along the Silk Road in the $21^{st}$ century. With the birth of a Rumi phenomenon in the West, Silk Road artists have rediscovered and adapted him for different purposes. Elif Shafak, the Turkish-British novelist and women's rights activist, espouses feminist beliefs in her bestseller, The Forty Rules of Love (2010). Benefiting from the views of feminist theorists like Woolf, de Beauvoir and Friedan, this paper reveals how Shafak appropriates Rumi for her feminist purposes. Forty Rules of Love's protagonist, Ella Rubinstein is analyzed, compared and contrasted with her former literary counterparts Pinhan and Zeliha, heroines of Shafak's previous novels. By adapting Rumi's definition of equality, Shafak shows how egalitarianism must pervade the relationship between women and men. The adaptation of Rumi's ideas regarding the equality of sexes finds a different dimension when Shafak reveals that all humanity possesses femininity and masculinity at the same time. By means of ideas prevalent in the ancient Silk Road, the five classical elements theory, and the yin and yang principle, Shafak portrays unity within contradictions. It is concluded that although individuals might belong to different typologies of the five symbolic elements of nature, they can at the same time complement one another's inharmonious personalities peacefully. The process of integration of female and male sexes can be expedited by opening up one's heart to a universal love.

퍼지논리를 이용한 적응제어기의 성능개선에 관한 연구 (Performance Improvement Using Fuzzy Logic In Adapative Control)

  • This paper presents a new adaptive structure with fuzzy logic applied to adaptive controller. In the conventional adaptive control, good performance cannot be expected due to the adaptation gain of gradient algorithm fined as a constant. To change adaptation gain property, fuzzy rules, which are based on the output error and its rate of change, have been established. The proposed fuzzy adaptive law shows fast parameter convergence and improved performance. The fuzzy logic base is added to the conventional adaptive structure and little additional computation time is required.
