  • In this paper we suggest a dynamic quota allocation mechansim for B-ISDN(Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network) subscriber networks. The quota adaptation decision based on the number of cells in the transmission queue is made distributively by each node in the ring network. This mechanism provides both fairness and efficiency for it enables each node to adapt its quota under asymmetric traffic condition. The simulation results show that substantial improvements in access delay time and throughput can be achieved with this algorithm.

  • Permanent Magnet DC Motors are widely used in Automotive parts because they have cheap price, simple structure and high torque-speed ratio. But the motor in automotive parts is required high quality, complex function and lower price than before. This paper deals with design of controller for safety function that body trap on the automotive window. The algorithm of controller can adapt variety conditions with temperature, electrical, driving, etc.

  • A computational algorithm is developed for fitting given data in the plane or in 3-space by implicitly defined quadrics. Implicity implies that the type of the quadric is part of the model and need not be known in advance. Starting with some estimate for the coefficients of the quadric the method will alternatively determine the shortest distances from the given points onto the quadric and adapt the coefficients such as to reduce the sum of those squared distances. Numerical examples are given.

  • We have developed a scheduler that additionally consider network performance by extending the Kubernetes developed to manage lots of containers in cloud computing nodes. The network delay adapt characteristics of the compute nodes were learned during server operation and the learned results were utilized to develop placement algorithm by considering the existing measurement units, CPU, memory, and volume together, and it was confirmed that the low delay network service was provided through placement algorithm.

  • This paper presents the decision support system using fuzzy knowledge to adapt the cutting conditions chosen by a conventional expert system to a particular machine tool, workpiece and clamping system. These preliminary results demonstrate the capability of fuzzy logic to adjust cutting parameters taking into account parameters difficult to quantify.

  • We create a malware detector classification method with using the Sequential Probability Ratio Test (SPRT) in IoT. More specifically, we adapt the SPRT to classify malware detectors into two categories of basic and advanced in line with malware detection capability. We perform evaluation of our scheme through simulation. Our simulation results show that the number of advanced detectors is changed in line with threshold for fraction of advanced malware information, which is used to judge advanced detectors in the SPRT.

  • Content-based image retrieval has been the most important technique for managing huge amount of images. The fundamental yet highly challenging problem in this field is how to measure the content-level similarity based on the low-level image features. The primary difficulties lie in the great variance within images, e.g. background, illumination, viewpoint and pose. Intuitively, an ideal similarity measure should be able to adapt the data distribution, discover and highlight the content-level information, and be robust to those variances. Motivated by these observations, we in this paper propose a probabilistic similarity learning approach. We first model the distribution of low-level image features and derive the free energy kernel (FEK), i.e., similarity measure, based on the distribution. Then, we propose a learning approach for the derived kernel, under the criterion that the kernel outputs high similarity for those images sharing the same class labels and output low similarity for those without the same label. The advantages of the proposed approach, in comparison with previous approaches, are threefold. (1) With the ability inherited from probabilistic models, the similarity measure can well adapt to data distribution. (2) Benefitting from the content-level hidden variables within the probabilistic models, the similarity measure is able to capture content-level cues. (3) It fully exploits class label in the supervised learning procedure. The proposed approach is extensively evaluated on two well-known databases. It achieves highly competitive performance on most experiments, which validates its advantages.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the ability for wearers in adapting to the Pure Vision contact lens. Methods: Subjects consisted of 78 university students who were analyzed by subjective and objective methods. During each day of use or extended wear, results relative to clinically adapt were analyzed over a period of one week. Results: 1. Visual function status Good 62.3%, Moderate 27.2%, Bad 10.6% 2. Side affects No sensation 76.12%, Moderate sensation 18.21%, Excessive sensation 6.5% 3. Lens handling ability Skillful 97.44%, Difficult 2.56% 4. Understanding Pure Vision lens characteristics 50.64% understood very well Conclusions: Most Pure Vision contant lens wearers had a good clinical response both subjectively and objectively but about one half did not understand fully the lens characteristics.
