  • This study used a total of 205,565 datasets of 'voltage', 'current', '℃', and 'time(s)' to systematically analyze the properties and performance of solid electrolytes. As a method for characterizing solid electrolytes, a linear regression model, one of the machine learning models, is used to visualize the relationship between 'voltage' and 'current' and calculate the regression coefficient, mean squared error (MSE), and coefficient of determination (R^2). The regression coefficient between 'Voltage' and 'Current' in the results of the linear regression model is about 1.89, indicating that 'Voltage' has a positive effect on 'Current', and it is expected that the current will increase by about 1.89 times as the voltage increases. MSE found that the mean squared error between the model's predicted and actual values was about 0.3, with smaller values closer to the model's predictions to the actual values. The coefficient of determination (R^2) is about 0.25, which can be interpreted as explaining 25% of the data.

  • Many sea accidents such as collisions and groundings of vessels were occurred due to the lack of sufficient manoeuvring capability of vessels. Therefore IMO adopted 'The interim standards of ship manoeuvrability by Resolution A.751(18) and the standards have been applied to vessels of 100m or more in length and all chemical tankers and gas carriers regardless of the length, which were constructed on or after 1 July 1994. The IMO manoeuvrability standards are divided into three kinds as bellows; (1) Turning capability standards : Estimated values in design stage are to be certified by turning circle test of the actual vessel. (2) Course keeping quality standards : Estimated values in design stage are to be certified by $10^\sqsubset\;and\;20^\sqsubset$ Zig-Zag tests of the actual vessel. (3) Shortest stopping distance standards : Estimated values in design stage are to be certified by the shortest stopping distance tested by the actual vessel. In this paper, the authors computed the values of the manoeuvring standards of several vessels from their original design and compared them with those results from experiments of the model ships and also examined the values and concluded about the validity of IMO Manoeuvrability standards.

  • In this study, the overconsolidation ratio (OCR) of soft clay soil was calculated by conducting an indoor physical experiment and a dynamics test using undisturbed soil samples from a soft clay soil field in South Korea. The OCR by depth was predicted by comparing the experimental results with the existing empirical equations. Methods using the liquidity index and the existing empirical equation by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) were examined, and the results were compared with the actual measured values. The method using the liquidity index was found to be suitable for estimating the rough OCR of the ground. However, the effect of drying was not considered for the ground above the groundwater level. Therefore, an equation for the correlation equation between the depth and OCR of each region, including the ground above the groundwater level, was proposed. The proposed equation was applied to the OCR prediction of the adjacent area. The predicted values in the area composed of clay (CL, CH) were found to be in good agreement with the actual values. In the region composed of silt (ML), however, the predicted values were not consistent with the actual values. This suggests that the sedimentation and compositional characteristics, rather than the engineering characteristics of the soil, are important factors that affect the OCR prediction.

  • This research examined the relation between personal history of residential moves and psychological independence. In particular, this research tested how actual self-importance (vis-a-vis perceived social importance) of values (Study 1) and preference for uniqueness (Study 2) would vary as a function of past experience of moving. The results showed that personal history of residential moves was positively linked to actual self-importance of individualistic values and perceived social importance of collectivistic values. In addition, the results demonstrated that individuals with frequent residential moves generally showed a greater liking for uniqueness. The implications of these results for the direction of causation between residential mobility and psychological independence are discussed and suggestions for future research are made.

  • It was important to estimate the full-scale operating performance including actual RPM and engine power of a ship since the operation efficiency during a voyage could be evaluated from the values. In the previous research, an entire voyage was simulated by following recorded speeds obtained from AIS and full-scale measurement data. Although reasonable tendencies were observed in the estimated speed, actual RPM, and engine power, it was impossible for them to be completely corresponded with the measured values due to the difference between actual operation and mathematical model. In this paper, alternative approaches to cope with the speed, actual RPM, and engine power were suggested by following the given speed, RPM, and power respectively. After entire voyages were simulated according to a given value, the effects of the value on the estimated performance were investigated. And, it was confirmed that the appropriate approach could be differently chosen according to the aim of the simulation or given value.

  • The results of our observation in May 2000 indicated that the SeaWiFS algorithm (O'Reilley et al., 1998), which was adopted for OSMI data processing, overestimated the actual chlorophyll values. This was rather unexpected in that there were good reasons to expect that the bio-optical properties of East/Japan Sea belonged to Case 1 water and in such case, the OC2 algorithm would give unbiased estimates of actual chlorophyll a values. In November 2000, a cruise conducted bio-optical surveys in the same area. This time we added HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method for measuring chlorophyll a concentration to the standard fluorometric method, which we hale been using during the past Fluorometric method with acidification is known to result in under/overestimation of chlorophyll values in many parts of the world oceans, while it is easier and cheaper than HPLC method. To our surprise, the comparison of HPLC chlorophyll and fluorometric chlorophyll values show that fluorometric values gave an underestimation up to 50%. This error was due to the presence of accessory pigments such as chlorophyll b. Considering this error, our precious result of May 2000(Yoo et al., 2000) might have to be reinterpreted. Calculation of reflectance at 490 and 555nm, however, indicated that this is not still enough to explain the discrepancies.

  • The possibility of utilizing radiant solar energy as a renewable energy resource in Tajikistan was investigated by assessing solar irradiance using XGBoost algorithm. Through training, validation, and testing, the seasonality of solar irradiance was clear in both actual and predicted values. Calculation of hourly values of solar irradiance on 1 July 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 indicated maximum actual and predicted values of 1,005 and 1,009 W/m2, 939 and 997 W/m2, 1,022 and 1,012 W/m2, 1,055 and 1,019 W/m2, respectively, with actual and predicted values being within 0.4~5.8%. XGBoost is thus a useful tool in predicting solar irradiance in Tajikistan and evaluating the possibility of utilizing radiant solar energy.

  • This study is the analysis of actual proof about how the CEO's values system affects the organizational performance. To this end, we analyzed the content of forty different actual CEOs' values system through in-depth interviews. In addition, we verify the impact of the CEO's values system on organizational performances depending on the employee's awareness and sympathy. The organizational performance is analyzed in two different areas, social and financial performance, and significant results are obtained in both areas. In particular, we interview the CEOs directly, which is usually difficult to access, to analyze the values system and study the employee's awareness and sympathy for the values system. The Study puts emphasis on the importance of the process of achieving the employee's awareness and sympathy, rather than the values system contents itself. And it is necessary for verifying through much more company samples from further study.

  • Determining age structure of the population of an endangered species is critical because it could provide basic information about population dynamics. In this study, we assessed the possibility if the growth lines on dorsal scutes of the national monument as well as endangered Reeves' turtle (Mauremys reevesii) can reliably estimate actual ages of the 100 turtles of which actual ages were known and have been housed in Seoul Zoo. We counted the number of growth lines on the first four dorsal scutes and the first left and right lateral scutes of each turtle and compared those with their known actual ages. Ages estimated by the growth lines were overestimated at between 1 and 5 actual ages, but underestimated at between 6 and 9 actual ages, indicating that age estimation using growth lines is only partially applicable at actual ages of less than 6 years old. In addition, using length and width of turtle's dorsal plates, we produced growth curves with equations to estimate actual ages of females combined with juveniles, but its application to estimate actual ages was not reliably possible because all subject turtles which used were at relatively young ages. In conclusion, when estimating actual ages of Reeves' turtles using the number of growth lines on the dorsal scutes, it is recommend to use minimum values at less than 6 lines, but use maximum values at more than 7 lines. As the first study which estimated actual ages of a turtle species using growth lines on the dorsal scutes in Korea, our results could be useful to estimate ages of the endangered Reeve's turtles in the field although its application might be limited.
