  • This study was conducted with 50 5-year-old children in public schools with very similiar outdoor eco-friendly play facilities. Specific play activities were introduced in the experimental group of 25 children while the control group did nor have such activities. Results of the analysis by t-test and ANCOVA showed that the play activities were effective for implementing emotional, social and physical self-concepts. There was no effect of play activities on cognitive self-concept. Effects on prosocial behavior showed that the play activities were effective for developing abilities to control individual emotions, build human relationships and adapt to school.

  • Recently, the needs for marketing activities is increasing of the hospitals, but there are no such measurement for the efficiency and the effectiveness of the marketing activities. Thus, the research aims to suggest the necessity of approach method which can combine the efficiency and the effectiveness of the marketing activities both systematically and comprehensively in line with examining the current status of marketing capability of hospitals in Korea. From the research findings, it is known that, in respect of financial performance, hospitals in Korea should establish the plan and implement accordingly in order increase both the sales revenue and profit ratio in contrast to the sales revenue through strengthening the internal marketing activities rather than the external marketing activities.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare activities of shoulder girdle muscles according to types of closed chain exercise in the sixties. Methods: The subjects consisted of 15 persons in their sixties. Muscle activity of the pectoralis major, deltoid middle, deltoid posterior, upper trapezius, lower trapezius, and serratus anterior were measured using electromyography according to shape of the support base and angle of shoulder flexion. According to types of closed chain exercises, muscles activities were compared by paired t-test. Significance level to verify statistical significance was .05. SPSS win (ver. 22.0) program was used for statistical analysis. Results: Muscle activities of the pectoralis major, middle deltoid, trapezius lower, and serratus anterior showed significant difference according to types of closed chain exercise (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to types of closed chain exercises of the shoulder girdle, muscle activities of the pectoralis major, deltoid middle, posterior and lower trapezius showed change of muscle activities.

  • For the purpose of defining the effects of N-acyl groups on the anticonvulsant activities of N-acyl-$\alpha$-amino-glutarimides, various (R)- and (S)-N-acyl-$\alpha$-aminoglutarimide were prepared from the corresponding N-Cbz-glutamic acid and were evaluated their anticonvulsant activities in the MES and PTZ test, including their neurotoxicities. Among the tested compounds, only (R) N-cinnamoyl-$\alpha$-amino-N-methylglutarimide showed anticonvulsant activity in the MES and PTZ test. And the other tested compounds was active in the only PTZ test. The order of anticonvulsant activities in the PTZ test was as followes; for the (R) series, N-4-methoxycinnamoyl = cinnamoyl > N-4-nitrobenzoyl > N-benzoyl > N-phenylacetyl; for the (S) series, N-4-methoxycinnamoyl = N-3-nitrobenzoyl > N-4-nitrobenzoyl = N-cinnamoyl = N-phenylacetyl. From the above results, it was conceivable that the substituted N-acyl group had important effects on the anticonvulsant activities of these compounds. However stereoisomeric deferences in the anticonvulsant activities were not exhibited clearly.

  • Allylthio group of allicin and other organosulfur compounds which are isolated from garlic is considered as a pharmacophore, a key structure component of the molecule which is responsible biological activities. In the foregoing studies various 3-allylthio -6- alkoxypyridazine derivatives (K- compounds ) and 3-allylthio -6- alkylthiopyridazine derivatives(Thio-K-compounds) were synthesized and their biological activities were tested in vivo. They showed good hepatoprotective activities on the carbon tetrachloride-treated mouse and aflatoxin Bl-treated rat and chemopreventive activities on bepatocarcinoma cells in rat as expected. Now 3-allylthio-6-heterocyclylalkylaminopyridazine derivatives that the oxygen atom at 6-Position of 3-allylthio-6-alkoxypyridazine is replaced by nitrogen (N) were synthesiz ed and their activities were tested in vitro against SK-Hep-1 human liver cancer cells. They showed good chemopreventive activities on hepatocarcinoma cells.

  • This study investigated relationships between the after-school extracurricular activities of kindergarten children and their daily stress. The subjects were 380 kindergarten children; they were interviewed regarding the degree of their daily stress. Their mothers completed questionnaires on the children's extracurricular after-school activities. Statistical analysis of the data showed that kindergarteners who participated in extracurricular after-school activities showed a higher degree of daily stress than children who did not. It was concluded that developmental appropriateness of extracurricular activities should be considered, and educational curricular and strategies to help children cope with daily stress due to excessive extracurricular activities should be prepared. Further research on this subject is recommended.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of mathematical activities with online mathematical contents on children's arithmetic development and attitudes toward mathematical activities. Pre- and post-tests were administered to 62 5-year-old children. Differences of children's arithmetic development level and attitudes toward mathematical activities were found between the experimental group using online mathematical contents and the control group using offline mathematical contents. All findings proved that online mathematical contents were effective and had positive influences on children's arithmetic development and attitudes toward mathematical activities. This supports the proposition that online mathematical contents can provide an important means to the improvement of children's mathematical development and attitudes toward mathematical activities.

  • This study was to describe the process on experiences of self-leading leisure activities and develop a substantive theory that explains lifestyle in middle-aged office workers. The participants were 12 persons who had participated in self-leading leisure activities. Data were collected with in-depth interviews and analyzed by grounded theory in Strauss and Corbin. Through analyzing process, 28 concepts, 14 subcategories, and seven categories were deduced. The periods of process were divided four stages, plateau, the phage of recognition in social duties, the phage of strengthen in competency, and the phage of reconstruct in successful lifestyle. The core category, 'disclosing of self-esteem' incorporated the relationship between and among all categories and explained the process. The findings indicate that self-leading leisure activities helped to their own health and developed their social activities. Therefore, we would consider in developing health promotion program about favoring leisure activities factors for the middle age office worker.

  • The present study was attempted to investigate the mechanism of oxidative cellular injuries which occur in diabetic rats by determining changes of antioxidant enzymes activity in the lung of alloxan-induced diabetic rats, the contents of glutathione in the lung, liver, blood samples, and ${\gamma}$-glutamylcysteine synthetase activities in the liver. Superoxide dismutase activities (SOD), including Cu, Zn-SOD and Mn-SOD, decreased in the lung of diabetic rats compared with those of normal control rats. However, activities of catalase and glutathione peroxidase(GPX) activities were not affected in the lung of diabetic rats. In diabetic rats, glutathione contents in the lung, liver, and blood samples, as well as the activities of ${\gamma}$-glutamylcysteine synthetase in the livers which is known to be the key enzyme of glutatione biosynthesis, decreased significantly. From these experimental results, it is thought that the decrease in SOD activities in the lung, glutathione contents and ${\gamma}$-glutamylcysteine synthetase activities in some tissues in alloxan-induced diabetic rats may be the crucial cause of vullnerability to oxidative cellular injuries.
