유효성분 동작형 누전차단기(Igc Free ELB)의 원리 및 동작 특성 해석 (Analysis of the Principle and Operation Characteristics of an (Igc-Free ELB) Operated by an Active Component)

  • This study compares the criteria of earth leakage breakers (ELB) and analyzes the characteristics of an Igc-free ELB operated by an active component which is not misoperated by capacitive current. Even for the same ELB, the earth leakage current flowing through the human body is estimated to be differ greatly depending on the power source, voltage, location and status of contact, contact time duration, etc. Earth leakage breakers are classified based on the rated voltage, rated sensing current, rated operating time etc. Mounting and demounting of the existing equipment can be performed easily since an $I_{gc}$-free ELB is manufactured with the same structure as a conventional ELB. The rated operating current of a conventional and an $I_{gc}$-free ELB is 30mA, the sensing current is 25mA and the rated non-operating current is 15mA. In the analysis of non-operating current characteristics, the rated non-operating current of 15mA was satisfied up to a 20mA charging current in the conventional ELB, but does not satisfy the rated non-operating current as it operates when the resistive leakage current is lower than 15mA for a charging current exceeding 20mA. Also, the ELB is misoperated without a resistive leakage current when the charging current exceeded 25mA. However, the newly developed $I_{gc}$-free ELB satisfied the rated non-operating current even when the charging current was 60mA. Also, in comparison to the interrupting characteristics, it was confirmed that the charging current satisfying the rated non-operating current of the $I_{gc}$-free ELB was three times higher than that of the conventional ELB.

  • In this paper, we proposed a TDC based F/T sensorless active compliance control algorithm for a rehabilitation robot (KARES II). The preference of compliance of the disabled is presented by clinical testing at Korea National Rehabilitation Center with the disabled. The KARES II was designed to work 12 predefined tasks which are very essential for helping the disabled. Among the tasks, some contact tasks between the robot and the disabled exist. Therefore, TDC based F/T sensorless compliance control algorithm is developed for these tasks without additional cost. We verified the proposed algorithm with experiment. Also for the practical use, suitable compliance for contact tasks is chosen by clinical testing at Korea National Rehabilitation Center.

  • This paper is for a Real-time Active Control System to operate a boiler. By sensing of flame we wanted to get status of a furnace as many as possible, like load, efficiency, and/or amount of pollutant. These data can be used to make optimal running point by controlling the ratio of air and fuel. So the last object is to make a closed actual control loop from optical head to valve controllers. The first job was to design and to develop a optical data acquisition system. including optical sensor module. And we gathered flame data in variable situations for taking the trend of flame against burning environment. Currently we are developing a general system model, designing some control strategy and testing this active control system.

  • This paper presents the analysis and design of an active electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter (AEF) for the common-mode (CM) noise reduction of switching power converters. The features of the several types of AEFs are discussed and compared in terms of implementation. The feed-forward AEF with a voltage-sensing and voltage-cancellation (VSVC) structure is implemented for an LLC resonant converter to replace a multiple-stage passive EMI filter and thereby reduce CM noise. The characteristics and performance of the VSVC-type AEF are investigated through theoretical and experimental works.

  • In this paper the effect of chaos induced instability in Brillouin-active fiber-ring sensor is described. The inherent optical feedback by the backscattered Stokes wave in optical fiber leads to instabilities in the form of optical chaos. The paradigm of optical chaos in fiber serves as a test for fundamental study of chaos and its suppression and exploitation in practical application in communication and sensing. At weak power, the nature of the Brillouin instability can occur at before threshold. At strong power, the temporal evolution above threshold is periodic and at higher intensity can become chaotic. The threshold for the Brillouin instability in fiber-ring sensor is much lower than the threshold of the normal Brillouin instability process.

  • This paper presents the active vibration control of flexible cantilever beam using piezoceramic actuators. The transfer function from the force input to the bending displacement was obtained via modal analysis results and piezoelectric constitutive equations. For the active vibration control piezoceramic actuators and sensors were used to construct a flexible smart cantilever beam. To further enhance the sensing and actuation properties of the piezoceramics, a typical interdigitated electrode pattern was fabricated. The PID controller was designed via various simulation and experiment trials. It was shown that the PID controller could suppress vibration of the beam effectively. Simulations and experiments verified good performances of the designed controller.

Detection of edge delamination in surface adhered active fiber composites

  • A simple method has been developed to detect the bonding condition of active fiber composites (AFC) adhered to the surface of a host structure. Large deformation actuating capability is one of important features of AFC. Edge delamination in adhesive layer due to large interfacial shear stress at the free edge is typically resulted from axial strain mismatch between bonded materials. AFC patch possesses very good flexibility and toughness. When an AFC patch is partially delaminated from host structure, there remains sensing capability in the debonded part. The debonding size can be determined through axial resonance measured by the interdigitated electrodes symmetrically aligned on opposite surfaces of the patch. The electrical impedance and modal response of the AFC patch in part adhered to an aluminum plate were investigated in a broad frequency range. Debonding ratio of the AFC patch is in inverse proportion to the resonant frequency of the fundamental mode. Feasibility of in-situ detecting the progressive delamination between AFC patch and host plate is demonstrated.

Broadband Phase-change Metagrating Design for Efficient Active Reflection Steering

  • In this paper, I introduce a novel design method of a high performance nanophotonic beam deflector providing broadband operation, large active tunability, and signal efficiency, simultaneously. By combining thermo-optically tunable vanadium dioxide nano-ridges and a metallic mirror, reconfigurable local optical phase of reflected diffraction beams can be engineered in a desired manner over broad bandwidth. The active metagrating deflectors are systematically designed for tunable deflection of reflection beams according to the thermal phase-change of vanadium dioxide nano-ridges. Moreover, by multiplexing the phase-change supercells, a robust design of actively tunable beam splitter is also verified numerically. It is expected that the proposed intuitive and simple design method would contribute to development of next-generation optical interconnects and spatial light modulators with high performances. The author also envisions that this study would be fruitful for modern holographic displays and three-dimensional depth sensing technologies.

LED 구동 IC를 위한 능동 전류 조절기의 설계 (Design of an Active Current Regulator for LED Driver IC)

  • This paper presents an active current regulator for LED driver IC. The proposed driver circuit is consists of DC-DC converter for supplying constant DC voltage to LED, active current regulator for compensating channel-to-channel current error from LED strings and feedback circuit for controlling duty ratio of the converter. The proposed active current regulator senses current of LED channels by equalizing both $V_{DS}$ and $V_{GS}$ at LED current control transistor. Because the proposed circuit directly measures the LED channel current without a sensing resistor and regulates all channel with same regulation loop, the power consumption and the current error are much small compared with previous works. The measured maximum efficiency of overall LED driver IC is approximately 94% and current error of LED channel-to-channel is under ${\pm}1.3%$. The proposed LED driver IC is fabricated Dongbu 0.35um BCD process.

전기장을 이용한 물체의 거리 측정 연구 (Estimating Distance of a Target Object from the Background Objects with Electric Image)

  • 전기장은 수중에서의 주변 환경 인지, 물체 확인 과정에 사용 될 수 있다. 약한 전기장을 발생시키는 전기물고기는 전기장을 발생시켜 그 왜곡을 감지함으로써 주위 상황을 인지하고 먹이를 찾는 "능동 센싱"에 특화되어 있다. 이러한 "능동 센싱"과정은 전기물고기가 어두운 바다 속에서 시각적인 정보 없이도 먹이를 찾고 주변 환경을 탐지할 수 있게 해준다. 전기물고기는 몸 전체에 전기수용기를 가지고 있다. 수많은 전기수용기를 통해 읽어지는 센서 값은 '전기장 이미지', 즉 시각적인 이미지가 아닌 전기장의 변화를 반영하는 물리적 이미지로 표현된다. 많은 사람들이 전기물고기가 시각 정보 없이도 전기장 이미지를 통해 어떻게 상황을 인지할 수 있는지 연구해 왔다. 많은 연구를 통해 전기장 이미지의 최대값, 기울기, 넓이, 피크의 위치 등이 목표 물체를 찾기 위한 단서로 사용될 수 있다는 사실이 이미 알려져 있다. 이 논문에서는 전기물고기의 전기장 이미지를 바탕으로 목표 물체 이외에 배경으로 생각할 수 있는 다른 물체가 있는 좀 더 복잡한 환경에서, 전기장 센서를 통해 목표 물체를 배경으로부터 분리하고 인지할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 이러한 복잡한 상황에서의 물체 인지 과정은 수중로봇의 물체인식에 활용될 수 있다.
