Background: The active knee extension (AKE) test commonly used to assess the flexibility of the hamstring muscles. Many researchers have tested the reliability of the AKE test; however, no published studies have examined the intrarater and interrater reliability of the AKE test using a PBU. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine the intrarater and interrater reliability of the AKE test performed with a pressure biofeedback unit (PBU) on healthy subjects. Methods: Sixteen healthy male participants volunteered and gave informed consent to participate in this study. Two raters conducted AKE tests independently with a PBU. Each knee was measured twice, and the AKE testing was repeated one week after the first round of testing. Results: The interrater reliability's intraclass correlation coefficients ($ICC_{2,1}$) were .887~.986 for the right knees and .915~.988 for the left knees. In addition, the intrarater (test-retest) reliability ($ICC_{3,1}$) values ranged between .820~.915 and .820~.884 for Raters 1 and 2, respectively. The values for the standard error of mesurement were low for all tests ($.81{\sim}2.97^{\circ}$); the calculated minimum detectable change was $2.24{\sim}8.21^{\circ}$. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the AKE test performed with a PBU had excellent interrater and intrarater reliability for assessing hamstring flexibility in healthy young males.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of robot-assisted gait training on the active ranges of motion, gait abilities, and biomechanical characteristics of gait in patients who underwent lower extremity surgery, and to verify the effectiveness and clinical usefulness of robot-assisted gait training. Methods: This study was conducted on 14 subjects who underwent lower extremity surgery. The subjects participated in robot-assisted gait training for 2 weeks. The active ranges of motion of the lower extremities were evaluated, and gait abilities were assessed using 10-m and 2-min walk tests. An STT Systems Inertial Measurement Unit was used to collect data on biomechanical characteristics during gait. Spatiotemporal parameters were used to measure cadence, step length, and velocity, and kinematic parameters were used to measure hip and knee joint movement during gait. Results: Significant improvements in the active ranges of motion of the hip and knee joints (flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction) and in the 10-m and 2-min walk test results were observed after robot-assisted gait training (p < 0.05). In addition, biomechanical characteristics of gait, spatiotemporal factors (cadence, step length, and velocity), and kinematic factors (gait hip flexion-extension, internal rotation-external rotation angle, and knee joint flexion-extension) were also significantly improved (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study are of clinical importance as they demonstrate that robot-assisted gait training can be used as an effective intervention method for patients who have undergone lower extremity surgery. Furthermore, the findings of this study are clinically meaningful as they expand the scope of robot-assisted gait training, which is currently mainly applied to patients with central nervous system conditions.

This study aims to explore the present and future of agricultural extension system in Uganda. Though Uganda has used many approaches in its agricultural extension, very little has been registered in farm productivity and profitability. Too many reforms some of them some are top-down while others are bottom - up. In most cases these reforms may not be given a chance to develop to show their impact. Future success of agricultural extension and rural development efforts in Uganda will depend not only on the presence of technical expertise and availability of resources but also on each government's willingness to redefine the role of its institutions and to allow the active participation of rural people in formulating and implementing and agricultural extension and rural development programs. As result the public extension systems in Uganda needs to be demand-driven so to make it relevant and important to the beneficiary.

Objectives : To investigate the improvement rate of muscle weakness caused by lumbar disc herniation, 17 patients was treated with oriental medicine. Methods : To evaluate weakness of big toe extensor muscles caused by lumbar disc herniation, we measured the active range of motion(ROM) of big toe extension and muscle grading of big toe extensor muscles. We also measured numerical rating scale(NRS), oswestry disability index(ODI) and compared them with the active ROM of big toe extension. Results : 1. Progressive weakness of big toe extensor muscles was observed in 2 patients. Weakness of big toe extensor muscles were improved in 13 patients(76%). 2. Changes in manual muscle testing(MMT) scores corresponded with improvement rate of big toe extension. 3. Numerical rating scale(NRS) and oswestry disability index(ODI) improvement rate did not correspond with improvement rate of big toe extension. Conclusions : Muscle weakness caused by lumbar disc herniation can be treated with oriental medicine and progressive muscle weakness must be observed constantly.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of tensor fasciae latae-iliotibial band (TFL-ITB) self-stretching exercise on the lumbopelvic movement patterns during active prone hip lateral rotation (HLR) in subjects with lumbar extension rotation syndrome accompanying TFL-ITB shortness. Eleven subjects (9 male and 2 female) were recruited for the two-week study. A three dimensional ultrasonic motion analysis system was used to measure the lumbopelvic movement patterns. The TFL-ITB length was measured using the modified Ober's test and was expressed as the hip horizontal adduction angle. The subjects were instructed how to perform TFL-ITB self-stretching exercise program at home. A paired t-test was performed to determine the significant difference in the angle of lumbopelvic rotation, movement onset time of lumbopelvic rotation, TFL-ITB length, and LBP intensity before and after the two-week period of performing the TFL-ITB self-stretching exercise. The results showed that after the intervention, the lumbopelvic rotation angle decreased significantly (p<.05), the movement onset time reduced significantly (p<.05), and LBP intensity decreased slightly but not significantly (p=.07). The hip horizontal adduction angle increased significantly (p<.05) after the intervention. These findings indicate that TFL-ITB stretching exercise increased TFL-ITB length, decreased lumbopelvic rotation angle, and delayed the movement onset time of lumbopelvic rotation after two-weeks. In conclusion, the TFL-ITB self-stretching exercise performed over a period of two weeks may be an effective approach for patients with lumbar extension rotation syndrome accompanying TFL-ITB shortness.
To efficiently manage data varying over time and process event driven transactions, some of the various database applications recently emerged require database systems supporting both a temporal data model and active rule processing. There has been much progress in independent research on temporal databases and active databases, but studies on databases which support both functions, have been rare. In this paper, an active temporal rule model supporting both active rule processing and temporal data model is presented with its rule expression language. This active temporal rule model contributes to the active function extension of the temporal database, and to establishing the concept of data access events which refer temporal attributes of data in active rules.

When ginseng seedlings are cultured in paddy fields, quality degradation and yield reduction are induced by severe plant loss with chlorosis on leaves occurred physiological disorder by excessive salt and poor drainage, rusty-root occurrence, and root rot etc. Accordingly, in order to solve these problems, this study was performed to investigate the treatment method, concentrations and time of activated ion calcium as environment-friendly agricultural materials. Activated ion calcium is an enriched and purified water-soluble mineral calcium component for absorbing quickly into plant as a highly functional calcium and it is an alkaline calcium of 37% (370 $m{\ell}$/1 ${\ell}$) concentration with pH 13. Treatment method was that ginseng seeds were sown after removing water in the shade after seed immersion for 1 minute with active ion calcium of 20-fold diluted solution, and then irrigated $4{\ell}$ per 3.3 $m^2$ with 200-fold, 400-fold, and 600-fold diluted solution before emergence on late March, and supplied 1 time on leaves with 500-fold diluted solution in June and July respectively. The disease rate by treatment of activated ion calcium was that on the treatment of soil irrigated with 200-fold diluted solution compared to non-treated soil, damping-off was 33%, anthracnose was 100% reduced and the occurrence rate of rusty-root was 30% reduced. In addition, when active ion calcium of 200-fold diluted solution were soil irrigated, first and second grade ginseng were respectively 26% and 22% produced more, compared with control.

This study was carried out to compare and analyze the active ingredients of Korean native ginger and rhizome derived from in vitro shoot-tip culture of Korean native ginger. Proximate compositions, mineral nutrients, free sugars, fatty acids, volatile components, 6-gingerol, and 6-shogaol were analysed and evaluated. Korean native ginger was proved to have a little more contents than in vitro rhizome in proximate compositions (crude ash, crude lipid, crude protein, carbohydrate). Mineral nutrient contents (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn) of in vitro rhizome were higher than those of Korean native ginger. Among the mineral nutrients, the quantity of K was the highest, followed by P, Mg, Na, and Ca. Free sugar contents (fructose, glucose, sucrose) of in vitro rhizome were higher than those of Korean native ginger. Fatty acids containing less than C14 was the major among the fatty acids in ginger. Citral ingredient of the unique aromatic compound of Korean native ginger was stronger than that of the rhizome derived from in vitro shoot-tip culture. Gingerol concentration was increased by shoot-tip culture.

This paper explores agricultural extension systems, extension challenges, research and extension models, governance structures of agricultural extension and advisory services in Sudan. Agricultural extension services in Sudan are provided by a variety of governmental department and corporation. The Technology Transfer and Extension Administration under the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, had been launched during mid 2000's aims at making extension systems farmer driven and farmer accountable by way of new institutional arrangements for technology dissemination in the form of community participation approach at the state level, to make the extension reforms have the active participation of farmers/farmer groups. The main problem facing agricultural extension services in developing countries is poor link between extension organization and research. Both extension administration and Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC) are operating as departments of ministry of Agricultural and irrigation for very long time. There are three recommendations to achieve the effectiveness of the Agricultural Research Corporations (ARC) in reaching farmers. Firstly, extension staff members should be assigned to every ARC station. Secondly, the ARC might increase positions for Agricultural development specialist or Farming System Research (FSR) specialist. Their role would be to reflect the needed of farmer and translate them to the researchable topics. Thirdly, researcher should conduct more research on farmer's fields.
