It is well known that oxidative stress participates in neuronal cell death caused production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The increased ROS is a major contributor to the development of ischemic injury. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO-1) is involved in the kynurenine pathway in tryptophan metabolism and plays a role as an anti-oxidant. However, whether IDO-1 would inhibit hippocampal cell death is poorly known. Therefore, we explored the effects of cell permeable Tat-IDO-1 protein against oxidative stress-induced HT-22 cells and in a cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury model. Transduced Tat-IDO-1 reduced cell death, ROS production, and DNA fragmentation and inhibited mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) activation in H2O2 exposed HT-22 cells. In the cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury model, Tat-IDO-1 transduced into the brain and passing by means of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) significantly prevented hippocampal neuronal cell death. These results suggest that Tat-IDO-1 may present an alternative strategy to improve from the ischemic injury.

Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) of vacuum, 60% $N_2/40%$$CO_2$, 100% $N_2$ and 100% $CO_2$ were examined to preserve fried fish cakes and extend their shelf life. When product packages in air were stored at 5, 10, and $15^{\circ}C$ with measurement in quality attributes, aerobic bacterial growth was found to be primary quality factor to determine the shelf life of the product. Huang's model was adopted to obtain the parameters for use in shelf life determination for a variety of packaging and storage conditions. Temperature dependence expressed in Arrhenius equation showed activation energies of 139.4 and 41.8 kJ/mol for inverse of lag time and growth rate of the microbial spoilage, respectively. MAP of 100% $CO_2$ could double the product shelf life at $10^{\circ}C$ compared to air package. High $CO_2$ concentration MAP at low temperature was found to be effective to prolong the shelf life.
To improve utilization of boxthorn (Lycii Fructus), the boxthron and mixed boxthron (Lycii Fructus, Schizandrae Fructus, Corni Fructus, Zizyphi Fructus, Zingiberis Rhizoma, Cinnamami Cortex) hot-water extractable concentrates were prepared by vaccum evaporation and its rheological properties were investigated. The rheological properties of concentrates $(20{\sim}50^{\circ}Bx)$ followed power low model and showed a pseudoplastic behavior at the temperature range of $20{\sim}60^{\circ}C$. The apparent viscosity of $20^{\circ}Bx$, $30^{\circ}Bx$, $40^{\circ}Bx$ and $50^{\circ}Bx$ boxthron hot-water extractable concentrate was 0.0074 Pa s, 0.0175 Pa s, 0.0431 Pa s and 0.0988 Pa s, that of mixed boxthorn hot-water extractable concentrate was 0.0099 Pa s, 0.0328 Pa s, 0.0720 Pa s and 0.1940 Pa s at $20^{\circ}C$ and 1500 l/s, respectively. The yield stress of boxthron and mixed boxthron hot-water extractable concentrates ranged from 0.045 to 6.253 Pa and from 0.022 to 8.891 Pa, respectively. The activation energy for the flow of boxthron and mixed boxthorn hot-water extractable concentrates increased from 1.6182 to $2.0543{\times}10^7\;J/kg{\cdot}mol$ and from 1.7057 to $2.1462{\times}10^7\;J/kg{\cdot}mol$ with the concentrations of concentrates, respectively.

The electrical conductivities of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ containing 2.5 and 5.0mol% of cadmium were measured from 300 to $900^{\circ}C$ under oxygen pressures of 10$^{-7}$ to 10$^{-1}$ atmosphere. Plots of log ${\sigma}$ vs. 10$^3$/T show the extrinsic conductivity at oxygen pressure higher than $5{\times}10$^{-2}$atm. The transition points appear at about 550$^{\circ}$C and the activation energies are 1.34 eV for the intrinsic region and 0.50 eV for the extrinsic region on 5mol% Cd-doped ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$. The extrinsic conductivity disappears at oxygen partial pressures lower than $5{\times}10$^{-2}$ atm, and the intrinsic conductivity predominates. The electrical conductivities decrease with increasing mol% of cadmium doped. The predominant defect of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ doped with Cd is believed to be Fe${2+}$ interstitial for the intrinsic, however, oxygen vacancy predominates for the extrinsic region. The electrical conduction mechanisms are proposed and the conduction band model is suggested for the extrinsic region.
The spherical Al/RDX/AP composites with an average size of $550{\mu}m$ were successfully prepared by drowning-out/agglomeration (D/A) process. The surface morphology and dispersion of Al particles of those composites were investigated using SEM and EDS (energy dispersive spectrometry). As a result of thermal analysis, the onset temperature of thermal decomposition of the Al/RDX/AP composites by the D/A process was found to decrease about $50^{\circ}C$ and their thermal stability was shown to be relatively enhanced due to the increase of activation energy compared to those of using the physical mixing method. In the first decomposition region of AP, Prout-Tompkins model was shown to describe well the thermal decomposition of both composites by the physical mixing and D/A process. On the other hand, in the second decomposition region of AP, the decomposition mechanisms of composites by the physical mixing and D/A process were explained by the zero-order and contracting volume model, respectively.

In this study, we conducted in - depth interviews of young entrepreneurs who are currently in the process of establishing new entrepreneurs management diagnosis and consulting for young entrepreneurs, and found the common difficulties experienced in young entrepreneurs' perception of entrepreneurship, In addition, through a case study, we verified product suitability through customer issue / solution suitability, idea marketability verification and MVP (Minimum Viable Product) using Lean Canvas according to the structure of Lean Start-up It is aimed at voluntary management diagnosis and consulting of small business owners, activation of young entrepreneurs' entrepreneurship, and reduction of startup failure rate. The purpose of this study is to examine the items of five young entrepreneurs from the perspective of the customer for about 10 months, focusing on the case of small entrepreneurs in the small entrepreneurs support project. Or we could provide the customer's problem or solution based on Lean Start-up. This study was conducted as a case - based qualitative study due to the limited sample and it is hoped that this study will be used as a basic research to verify the effectiveness of the lean start-up methodology for small business owners through quantitative research.
Three-dimensional thermoluminescence(TL) spectra of LiF: Mg, Cu, Na, Si TL material based on temperature, wavelength and intensity were measured and analyzed. The glow curves were obtained by integration of luminescence intensity for wavelength at each temperature, and various trapping parameters related to the trap formation were determined by analyzing these curves. Computerized glow curve deconvolution(CGCD) method which based on general order kinetics(GOK) model were used for the glow curve analysis. The glow curves of LiF:Mg, Cu, Na, Si TL material were deconvoluted to six isolated glow curves which have peak temperature at 333 K, 374 K, 426 K, 466 K, 483 K and 516 K, respectively. The 466 K main glow peak had an activation energy of 2.06 eV and a kinetic order of 1.05. This TL material was also found to have three recombination centers, 1.80 eV, 2.88 eV and 3.27 eV by TL spectra analysis based on Franck-Condon model. It showed that 2.88 eV is the dominant center, followed by 3.27 eV level, and 1.80 eV center is ascertained as emission center of this material even though its very weak emission intensity.
The neuropeptide ${\alpha}$-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (${\alpha}$-MSH) has anti-inflammatory property by down regulating the expressions of proinflammatory cytokines. Because ${\alpha}$-MSH elicits the anti-inflammatory effect in various inflammatory disease models, we examined the therapeutic effect of oral administration of recombinant Lactobacillus casei, which secretes ${\alpha}$-MSH (L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH), on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in Balb/c mice. Thus, we constructed the ${\alpha}$-MSH-secreting Lactobacillus casei by the basic plasmid, pLUAT-ss, which was composed of a PldhUTLS promoter and ${\alpha}$-amylase signal sequence from Streptococcus bovis strain. Acute colitis was induced by oral administration of 5% DSS in drinking water for 7 days. To investigate the effect of L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH on the colitis, L. casei or L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH was orally administered for 7 days and their effects on body weight, mortality rate, cytokine production, and tissue myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity were observed. Administration of L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH reduced the symptom of acute colitis as assessed by body weight loss (DSS alone: $14.45{\pm}0.2\;g$; L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH: $18.2{\pm}0.12\;g$), colitis score (DSS alone: $3.6{\pm}0.4$; L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH: $1.4{\pm}0.6$), MPO activity (DSS alone: $42.7{\pm}4.5\;U/g$; L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH: $10.25{\pm}0.5\;U/g$), survival rate, and histological damage compared with the DSS alone mice. L. casei-${\alpha}$-MSH-administered entire colon showed reduced in vitro production of proinflammatory cytokines and $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation. The ${\alpha}$-MSH-secreting recombinant L. casei showed significant anti-inflammatory effects in the murine model of acute colitis and suggests a potential therapeutic role for this agent in clinical inflammatory bowel diseases.
The growth of amorphous and first crystalline phase, and phase sequence by solid state reaction were examined in Co/Si multilayer thin films by DSC and XRD. The experimental results were compared with the results expected by effective driving force models, PDF and effective heat of formation models.Amorphous phase growth was not observed in Co/Si system and it was consistent with the predicted result by effective driving force. It was observed that the first crystalline phase is CoSi. According to the PDF and effective heat of formation models, the first crystalline phases were CoSi and $CO_2Si$, respectively. The experiemental results were coincident with the PDF model considering structure factors. In case of the atomic concentration ratios of 2Co : 1Si and 1Co : 2Si, the phases sequences were $CoSi\to Co_2Si$ and $CoSi \to Co_2Si \to CoSi \to CoSi_2$, respectively and it was analysized through the effective heat of formation model. The formations of CoSi, $CO_2Si$ and $COSi_2$ in initial stage were controlled by nucleation and the activation energies for the nucleation of three phases were 1.71, 2.34 and 2.79eV.
Excitotoxicity and epileptogenesis have often been associated with glutamate receptor activation. Accumulating evidences indicates that topiramate (TPM), an antiepileptic drug with multiple mechanisms of action has neuroprotective activity. We explored the neuroprotective effect of TPM on the status epilepticus (SE)-induced hippocampal neuronal death. After development of SE by kainite injection (15 mg/Kg), rats were treated with TPM (10mg/kg) for 1 week. The neuronal death was detected by Apop tag in situ detection kit, and the expression levels of glutamate receptors were semi-quantitatively analyzed by immunoblot. Kainate-induced SE caused a significant neuronal death and cell loss in CAI and CA3 regions of hippocampus at 1 week. However, treatment of TPM for 1 week after SE markedly reduced hippocampal neuronal death. The expression of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunit 1, was increased by SE, but was not affected by 1 week treatment of TPM. The expressions of NMDA receptor subunit 2a and 2b were not changed by either SE or TPM. As for ${\alpha}-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole-propionate$ (AMPA) glutamate receptors (GluR), kainate-induced SE markedly up-regulated GluR1 expression but down-regulated GluR2 expression, leading to increased formation of $Ca^{2+}$ permeable GluR2- lacking AMPA receptors. TPM administration for 1 week attenuated SE-induced expression of both the up-regulation of GluR1 and down-regulation of GluR2, reversing the ratio of GluR1/GluR2 to the control value. In conclusion, TPM protects neuronal cell death against glutamate induced excitotoxicity in kainate-induced SE model, supporting the potential of TPM as a neuroprotective agent.
