Electron and hole traps in semi-insulating GaAs with activation energies ({\Delta}E_r) ranging from 0.16 $\pm$ 0.01 to 0.98 $\pm$ 0.01 eV, have been detected and characterized by photo-induced current transient measurements. SI undoped GaAs has fewer deep levels than SI GaAs: Cr. The thermal capture cross section and density of the traps have been estimated and some of the centers have been related to native defects. In particular, the activation energy of the compensating Cr, and "0" levels in semi-insulating GaAs were accurately measured. The transient measurements were complemented by Hall measurements at T > 300K and photocurrent spectra measurements. The transition energies for the deep compensating levels obtained by the analyses of data from these measurements, when compared with those from the transient measurements, indicate negligible lattice-coupling of these centers. Analysis of the transport data also indicates that neutral impurity scattering plays a significant role in semi-insulating materials at high temperatures.

Several adhesive tapes have been studied in terms of their suitability for securing gold wires into positions for neutron flux measurements in the reactor core and irradiation facilities surrounding the core of the Open Pool Australian Light water (OPAL) reactor. Gamma ray spectrometry has been performed on each irradiated tape in order to identify and quantify activated components. Numerous metallic impurities have been identified in all tapes. Calculations relating to both the effective neutron shielding properties of the tapes and the error in measurement of the $^{198}Au$ activity caused by superfluous activity due to residual tape have been made. The most important identified effects were the prolonged cooling times required before safe enough levels of radioactivity to allow handling were reached, and extra activity caused by residual tape when measured with an ionisation chamber. Knowledge of the most suitable tape can allow a minimal contribution due to these effects, and the use of gamma spectrometry in preference to ionisation chamber measurements of the flux wires is shown to make all systematic errors due to the tape completely negligible.
The relative reaction rates were measured in the TRIGA Mark II reactor core and analyzed to obtain the neutron spectrum parameters; relative neutron temperature T$^{n}$ and epithermal index (equation omitted) Measurements were made with the central thimble and the F2 position containing the light water. The relative neutron temperature was represented by the activation ratio of Lu-Mn, and the epithermal index was measured by Au-Mn foil activation. The multichannel analyzer was used to measure the relative ${\gamma}$-rays of the detector foils. The results were compared with the calculated values.
Gd-doped $CeO_2$, ultrafine powders were synthesized by the glycine-nitrate process and then their sintering and electrical characteristics were analysed using the dilatometric and AC impedance measurements. In the dilatometric measurements green bodies from the synthesized powders after milling shrinked to about $1470^{\circ}C$ in appearance and then expanded thermally with the increase of the heating temperature, whereas those from the synthesized powders before milling continuously shrinked to the temperatures of $1600^{\circ}C$. It may be due to the change of the packing density of the synthesized powders by milling. In the AC impedance measurements, the electrical resistivity of the Gd-doped $CeO_2$ bodies from the as-milled powders, sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$ with the increase of the sintering time, showed the minimum value at the sintering time of 10h. The minimum total resistivity of the Gd-doped $CeO_2$ bodies sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 10h seems to result from the lowest activation energy by the combination between the activation energies for the resistivities at the grain interior and grain boundary.

PURPOSE: This study researched the effects of different types of high heels on the muscles surrounding the cervical spine, the thoracic spine, and the lumbar spine by analyzing muscle activation of the paraspinal muscles during walking while wearing high heels. The high heels were all of the same height: 8cm. METHODS: The 28 subjects in this experiment were females in their 20s with a foot size of 225-230mm. To measure the muscle activation of the paraspinal muscles, EMG electrodes were attached on the paraspinal muscles around C6, T7, and L5. The muscle activation during walking while wearing 8cm high wedge heels, setback heels, and french heels was measured. The measurements were performed 3 times each and the mean value of the result was used for analysis. Two kinds of velocity were used in this study. One of the velocity was 2.5 m/s. The other was 3.5 m/s. RESULTS: The muscle activation of paraspinal muscles increased significantly according to increase of walking velocity. But there was no significant difference according to the heel types. CONCLUSION: In view of the results, the height of heels and the velocity of walking are more convincing variables than the width of the heels on the muscle activation of paraspinal muscles. So wearing high heels is not recommended for those who have pain or functional problem of cervical and lumbar vertebrae.

In order to evaluate the effect of the extracts of eidble and medicinalplant son the activation of immune cells, measurements were made by ELISA and radioimmunoassay on the degree of release for the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and neopterin by the edible and medicinal plants in peripheral blood cells. The results of measurements of TNF in the supernatant cultured liquid showed nothing in t도 control which does not have any edible and medicinal plants. However, measurements of TNF 9pg/ml) in the samples are given as follows : 716.7 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS 1 g/ml), 465.2 Rheum plamatum L.m302.7 Sanguisorba offciinalis L. 818.2 Rubus coreanus M, 328.3 Terminalia chebula R., 426.6 AReca catechu L. 227.0 Eugenia caryophiliata T., 272.9 Ephedra sinica S., 30.1 Caesalpinia sappan L., 474.0 Chaenomeles japonica L., 396.0 Cornus officinalis S.in edible and medicinalplants. ENopterin (n mole/L) value showed below the check point in the control group, however, the values are 11.0 in LPS, and edible and medicinal plants, 5.3 Rheum palmatum L., 11.6 Eugenia caryophiliata T., 5.5 Ephedra sinica S., 4.5 Caesalpinia sappan L., 4.3 Chaenomelees japonica L.3.7 Cornus officinalis S. In order to find m RNA levels of Cytokines increased by edible and medicinal plants, total RNA was separated from mononuclear cells treated 5 hrs with Rubus coreanus M. and then administrated for RT-PCR. The considerable increases of the m RNA of TNF, IL-1 $\alpha$ and IL-6 were observed.
The effect of Cu content on hydrogen reduction behavior of ball-milled $WO_3$-CuO nanocomposite powders was investigated. Hydrogen reduction behavior and reduction percent(${\alpha}$) of nanopowders were characterized by thermogravimetry (TG) and hygrometry measurements. Activation energy for hydrogen reduction of $WO_3$ nanopowders with different Cu content was calculated at each heating rate and reduction percent(${\alpha}$). The activation energy for reduction of $WO_3$ obtained in this study existed in the ranging from 129 to 139 kJ/mol, which was in accordance with the activation energy for $WO_3$ powder reduction of conventional micron-sized.

The use of fly ash to replace a portion of cement has resulted significant savings in the cost of cement production. Fly ash blended cement concretes require a longer curing time and their early strength is low when compared to ordinary Portland cement(OPC) concrete. By adopting various activation techniques such as physical, thermal and chemical method, hydration of fly ash blended cement concrete was accelerated and thereby improved the corrosion-resistance of concrete. Concrete specimens prepared with 10-40% of activated fly ash replacement were evaluated for their open circuit potential measurements, weight loss measurements, impedance measurements, linear polarization measurements, water absorption test, rapid chloride ion penetration test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) test and the results were compared with those for OPC concrete without fly ash. All the studies confirmed that up to a critical level of 20-30% replacement; activated fly ash cement improved the corrosion-resistance properties of concrete. It was also confirmed that the chemical activation of fly ash better results than the other methods of activation investigated in this study.

Sphere anemometry technique is re-visited for low gas velocity measurements during full-scale fire tests. This technique has the advantage of requiring only one channel per sphere for data acquisition, in addition to being cheap and rugged, The results indicate that the technique is useful for small fuel load burns with low radiation levels. For large fuel loads, the usefulness is up to sprinkler activation temperatures.

Origins for the transconductance dispersion and the gate leakage current in a GaAs metal semiconductor field effect transistor were found using capacitance deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) measurements. In DLTS spectra, we observed two surface states with thermal activation energies of 0.65 $\times$ 0.07 eV and 0.88 $\times$ 0.04 eV and an electron trap EL2 with thermal activation energy of 0.84 $\times$ 0.01 eV. Transconductance was decreased in the frequency range of 5.5 Hz ~ 300 Hz. The transition frequency shifted to higher frequencies with the increase of temperature and the activation energy for the change of the transition frequency was determined to be 0.66 $\times$ 0.02 eV. From the measurements of the gate leakage current as a function of the device temperature, the forward and reverse currents are coincident with each other below gate voltages lower than 0.15 V, namely Ohmic behavior between gate and source/drain electrodes. The activation energy for the conductance of electrons on the surface of MESFET was 0.63 $\times$ 0.01 eV. Comparing activation energies obtained by different measurements, we found surface states H1 caused the transconductance dispersion and the fate leakage current.
