  • To specify a formal semantics for a programming language is to do a significant part for design, standardization and translation of it. The Python is popular and powerful, it is necessary to do research for a formal semantics to specify a static and dynamic semantics for Python clearly in order to design a similar language and do an efficient translation. This paper presents the Action Equation 2.0 that specifies a formal semantics for Python to change and update Action Equation. To measure the execution time for Python programs, we implemented the semantic structure specified in Action Equation 2.0 in Java, and prove through simulation that Action Equation 2.0 is a real semantic structure that can be implemented. The specified Action Equation 2.0 is compared to other descriptions, in terms of readability, modularity, extensibility, and flexibility and then we verified that Action Equation 2.0 is superior to other formal semantics.

  • To specify a formal semantics is to do a significant part for design, standardization and translation of programming languages. The existing studies of a formal semantics for Java have a weak point to describe a clear and practical semantics for an efficient translation. It is necessary to do research for a formal semantics to specify a static and dynamic semantics clearly in order to do an efficient translation. This paper presents the improved Action Equation that specifies a formal semantics for Java to extend the research using Action Equation. The Action Equation is a practical and accurate specification that describes object-oriented programming features and handles exceptions. The specified Action Equation is compared to other descriptions, in terms of readability, modularity, extensibility, and flexibility and then we verified that Action Equation is superior to other formal semantics.

  • A rational expression, developed to predict the shear strength of reinforced concrete beams, is derived from the relationship between shear and the rate of change of bending moment along a beam coupled with experimental findings for the arch action. The proposed ultimate shear strength equation, arising from analytical premises and then calibrated with experimental data, is a similar form to the ACI 318 equation derived mainly from empirical approach. The proposed equation depends on the concrete compressive strength, amount of longitudinal steel content, and the shear span-to-depth ratio, and rationally reflects the shear resistance mechanism of combined beam action and arch action in reinforced concrete beams. The proposed equation applied to existing test data and the results were compared with those predicted by the ACI 318 equation and the Zsutty's equation.

  • Empirical equation has been developed by employing the new non-dimensional physical number 'wave action slope' for the estimation of breakwater armor weight. Van der Meer(1987) introduced Iribarren number for the same purpose, but his equation shows very different trend of distribution with the condition of Iribarren number. On the other hand the equation related with wave action slope keeps the same trend of distribution over the whole region. When the parameter is related to the Iribarren number, the equation of wave action slope has a very high accuracy.

  • The sigmoiod kinetics of mass-action in a biosystem have been studied by theoretical bases on the carrier hypothesis of influx and efflux of substrates. The sigmoid kinetic equations of assimilation and dissimilation rates indicate that each trophicfactor and each bio-factor behave according to the sigmoid kinetic equation and the bell shape case, and all of them are multiplicative. The general sigmoid kinetics of mass-action is given by the equation (30) which is determined by the total of the equation (28) of the assimilation rate and the equation (29) of the dissimilation rate. The sigmoid kinetic model of photosynthesis has been derived from the general equation of the sigmoid kinetics of mass-action.

  • Specifying the semantic structure for functional interfaces and lambda expressions, which are the latest features of Java, can be referenced when designing similar functions in the future, and is also required in the process of standardizing or implementing an optimized translator. In this study, action equation 3.0 is newly proposed to express the static and dynamic semantic structure of functional interfaces and lambda expressions by modifying and upgrading the existing expressions to express the semantic structures of java functional interfaces and lambda expressions. Measure the execution time of java programs by implementing the semantic structure specified in action equation 3.0 in java, and prove that action equation 3.0 is a real semantic structure that can be implemented through simulation. The superiority of this action equation 3.0 is to be confirmed by comparing the action equation 3.0 specified in the four areas of readability, modularity, extensibility and flexibility with the existing representative semantic expression methods.

  • Rabinowitz action functional is the Lagrange multiplier functional of the negative area functional to a constraint given by the mean value of a Hamiltonian. In this note we show that on a symplectization there is a one-to-one correspondence between gradient flow lines of Rabinowitz action functional and gradient flow lines of the restriction of the negative area functional to the constraint. In the appendix we explain the motivation behind this result. Namely that the restricted functional satisfies Chas-Sullivan additivity for concatenation of loops which the Rabinowitz action functional does in general not do.

  • In the mechanism of beam shear failure, beam action and arch action always exist simultaneously. According to a/d ratio, the proportion and contribution between these two actions to shear capacity are merely changed. Moreover, the current codes recommendations are founded on the experimental results with normal strength concrete, the applicable range of $f'_{c}$ must be extended. Based on this mechanism and new requirement, an analytical equation is proposed for shear capacity prediction of reinforced concrete beams without stirrups. To reflect contribution change of two actions, stress variation in longitudinal reinforcement along the span is considered with Jenq and Shah Model. Dowel action and shear friction are also taken into account. Size effect is included to derive more precise equation. It is shown that the proposed equation is more accurate than other empirical equations and codes. So, it can be possible that wide range of a/d ratio is considered by one equation.

  • To modify some problems of ACI shear provisions, ultimate shear strength equation considering size effect and arch action to compute shear strength in high-strength concrete beams without stirrups is presented in this research. Three basic equations, namely size reduction factor, rho factor, and arch action factor, are derived from crack band model of fracture mechanics, analysis of previous some shear equations for longitudinal reinforcement ratio, and concrete strut described as linear function in deep beams. Constants of basic equations are determined using statistical analysis of previous shear testing data. To verify proposed shear equation for each variable, namely d, , ρ, f/sub c/' and aid, about 250 experimental data are used and proposed shear equation is compared with ACI 318-99 code, CEB-FIP Model code, Kim & Park's equation and Zsutty's equation. While proposed shear equation is simpler than other shear equations, it is shown to be economical predictions and reasonable safety margin. Hence proposed shear strength equation is expected to be applied to practice shear design.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model for pressure ulcer prevention action by clinical nurses. The Health Belief Model and the Theory of Planned Behavior were used as the basis for the study. Methods: A structured questionnaire was completed by 251 clinical nurses to analyze the relationships between concepts of perceived benefits, perceived barriers, attitude, subjective norm, perceived control, intention to perform action and behavior. SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 programs were used to analyze the efficiency of the hypothesized model and calculate the direct and indirect effects of factors affecting pressure ulcer prevention action among clinical nurses. Results: The model fitness statistics of the hypothetical model fitted to the recommended levels. Attitude, subjective norm and perceived control on pressure ulcer prevention action explained 64.2% for intention to perform prevention action. Conclusion: The major findings of this study indicate that it is essential to recognize improvement in positive attitude for pressure ulcer prevention action and a need for systematic education programs to increase perceived control for prevention action.
