  • The Little theater in Sejong Performing Arts Center is a proscenium theater with 447 seats, which was built in 1978. The remodeling of the theater was decided in 2005 and acoustical design was conducted. Design guidelines were suggested based on the feasibility studies and acoustical measurement results. Target reverberation time was set at 1.2-1.6s with respect to the main performances. For the acoustical design, side balconies were added to increase the level of lateral reflections. Acoustic diffusers were designed and scattering coefficients were measured in a 1:10 reverberation chamber. From the results of computer simulation and a 1:10 scale model measurement, it was indicated that the new space will have RT of 1.2-1.6 s in middle frequencies when fully occupied.

  • In two previous papers [1], [2], we presented the validity of a method that calculated the Leq values along High Speed Train (TGV in french) lines from the level/time evolution of moving trains. Tanks to this method, it is now possible to compute specific time-related effects such as interactions between train bodies and close obstacles. This paper lists important parameters to be considered within TGV studies and presents the various levels of study, starting from the research of the best traject (extensive studies), passing through noise impact studies (intensive studies) of the chosen traject to the dimensionning of antinoise devices (final design), and all this to guarantee precise respect of noise criteria. A theoretical comparison study conducted on about 80 different types of antinoise devices including earthberms and noise barriers of different forms, dimensions and materials is also presented. At last a "final design" study using all benefits of the method (full 3D and time representation) is presented.presented.

  • A novel audio watermark design using Hilbert transform is proposed, and its superiority of performance over the existing design using the absolute values of the audio signal is demonstrated experimentally with measurements of bit error rate (BER) in correlation based decoder. • Equations of motion of an engine mount system including foundation flexibility are derived. Forced vibration analysis is carried out for the given engine mount system excited with the unbalanced force and moment. A new optimal design method for the engine mount system is proposed, in which vibration characteristics of the chassis frame structure are considered as design parameters.

  • A successful design approach for noise barriers should be multidisciplinary because noise reduction goals influence both acoustical and non-acoustical considerations, such as maintenance, safety, physical construction, cost, and visual impact. These various barrier design options are closely related with barrier dimensions. In this study, we have proposed an optimal design method of straight noise barriers using genetic algorithm, providing a barrier having the smallest dimension and achieving the specified noise reduction at a receiver region exposed to the industry and traffic noise, to help a successful barrier design.
