For developing acoustic window, transmission loss in accordance with incident angle was calculated and compared with measurement results. In design stage, the material choice of acoustic window is very important because the material is one of main parameters of transmission loss and structural strength. In order to analyze the effect of material properties on transmission loss, the parametric studies were carried out and the results were discussed in this paper. And, to verify the design specification of acoustic window, measurement was carried out and the results were compared and analyzed.

The acoustic emission (AE) technique is utilized to estimate the rock failure status in underground spaces. Understanding the AE characteristics under loading conditions is essential to ensure the reliability of AE monitoring. The AE characteristics depend on the material properties (p-wave velocity, density, UCS, and Young's modulus) and damage stages (stress ratio) of the target rock mass. In this study, two groups of granite specimens (based on the p-wave velocity regime) were prepared to explore the effect of material properties on AE characteristics. Uniaxial compressive loading tests with an AE measurement system were performed to investigate the effect of the rock properties using AE indices (count index, energy index, and amplitude index). The test results were analyzed according to three damage stages classified by the stress ratio of the specimens. Count index was determined to be the most suitable AE index for evaluating rock mass stability.
The wave propagation characteristics of an acoustic metamaterial composed of periodically repeated one-dimensional Helmholtz resonator array was investigated considering the effects of dimensional changes of the resonator geometry on the transmission coefficient and band gap. The effective impedance and transmission coefficient of the acoustic metamaterials are obtained based on the acoustic transmission line method. The designed acoustic metamaterials exhibit band gaps and negative bulk modulus that are non-existent properties in the nature. The band gap of the acoustic metamaterial is strongly dependent on the geometry parameters of Helmholtz resonators and lattice spacing. Also, a new type of metamaterial that is periodically constructed with two different resonators was designed to open the local resonance band gap without change of Bragg scattering.
This study provides a description of the glottal characteristics of the word-initial low vowels /a, $\ae$/ in terms of a set of acoustic parameters and discusses glottal configuration as their acoustic correlates. Furthermore, it examines the effect of prosodic boundary on the glottal properties of the vowels, seeking an account of the possible role of prosodic structure based on prosodic theory. Acoustic parameters reported to indicate glottal characteristics were obtained from the measurements made directly from the speech spectrum on recordings of Korean and English collected from 45 speakers. They consist of two separate groups of native Korean and native English speakers, each including both male and female speakers. Based on the three acoustic parameters of open quotient (OQ), first-formant bandwidth (B1), and spectral tilt (ST), comparisons were made between the speech of males and females, between the speech of native Korean and native English speakers, and between Korean and English produced by native Korean speakers. Acoustic analysis of the experimental data indicates that some or all glottal parameters play a crucial role in differentiating the speech groups, despite substantial interspeaker variations. Statistical analysis of the Korean data indicates prosodic strengthening with respect to the acoustic parameters B1 and OQ, suggesting acoustic enhancement in terms of the degree of glottal abduction and the glottal closure during a vibratory cycle.
Surface acoustic wave(SAW) oscillator offers many attractive features for application to vapor sensors. The perturbation of SAW velocity by the hexafluoropropence plasma polymer thin film has been studied for relative humidity sensing. adsorption of moisture produces rapid aid changes in the properties of the film, resulting in a change in the velocity of surface acoustic waves and, hence, in the frequency of one SAW oscillator. The device used in our experiments have 55 MHZ SAW oscillator fabricated on a LiNbO substrate.
PZT powders were prepared by the molten salt synthesis method. The porous PZT was preapred from the mixture of PZT and PVA powders by BURPS(BURnout plastic Sphere) technique. The acoustic properties with various plastic sphere wt.% were studied. The acoustic impedance of porous PZT was smaller than that of single phase PZT ceramics. And the pulse-reponse of porous PZT maded transducer was significantly advanced to that of solid PZT maded transducer.
