Evaluation of the Efficiency of Solvent Systems to Remove Acetic Acid Derived from Pre-pulping Extraction

  • Hemicellulose extract obtained by pre-pulping extraction of woodchips, is very diluted acidic in nature. The major component responsible for this weak acidity is acetic acid, present in levels up to 5~10 g/L. Here, we report an exploratory study on the extract upgrading by reactive solvent extraction of acetic acid as well as ASPEN simulation. In this study, liquid-liquid equilibria for the ternary systems (water + acetic acid + ethyl acetate) were measured at the temperature of 298.15 K and 10 (pH = 2.02), 5 (pH = 2.17), and 1 (pH = 2.48) percent of acetic acid samples were used to carry out liquid-liquid extraction studies using ethyl acetate. In a one-stage batch experiment, 96.0% of acetic acid could be extracted for the solvent when the ratio of organic-to-aqueous phases is 4:1. For simulation results, they were used to estimate the interaction parameters between each of the three compounds of the systems studied for the NRTL and UNIQUAC models. The estimated interaction parameters were successfully used to predict the equilibrium compositions by the two models.

Optimization of One-step Extraction/Methylation Method for Analysis of Fatty Acid Composition in Brown Rice

  • Traditionally fatty acid composition used to be analysed by a GC and the sample preparation process includes lipid extraction from sample and subsequent methyl esters preparation, which are time-consuming and cumbersome. As an alternative, simultaneous extraction/methylation methods are being developed for rapid and simplified sample preparation. To optimize one-step extraction/methylation method for analysis of fatty acid composition in brown rice, various reaction factors such as sample to reaction solution ratio, reaction time and temperature, shaking intensity were changed and resultant fatty acid composition data were evaluated in comparison with previous reports. The ratio of sample weight to reaction solution volume was the most critical factor in that higher sample to reaction solution ratio caused overestimation of palmitic acid and linoleic acid composition, resulting in underestimation of oleic acid. Lower reaction temperature also induced overestimation of linoleic acid and underestimation of oleic acid. Reaction duration and the intensity of shaking prior to and during the reaction, however, caused no significant changes in analysis results. In conclusion, the optimum condition was mixing 5 grains (about 0.2 g) of brown rice with $680{\mu}L$ of extraction/methylation mixture and $400{\mu}L$ of heptane, followed by reaction at $80^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours.

산(acid) 첨가 용매 추출에 의한 폐버섯배지 회분 감소 및 연료특성 변화 (Ash Reduction and the Change of Fuel Properties for Spent Mushroom Substrates by Acid Solution Extraction)

  • 농산폐기물인 폐버섯배지의 목재 펠릿 연료화 가능성을 탐색하기 위하여 국내 발생량이 가장 많은 새송이버섯, 팽이버섯, 느타리버섯 폐배지를 대상으로 산(acid) 첨가 용매추출에 의한 회분감소 실험을 수행하였고 이에 따른 연료특성 변화를 탐색하였다. 새송이버섯 폐배지는 초산 2%(w/w), 무수구연산 1%(w/w) 첨가군, 액비 1:8, 추출온도 $55^{\circ}C$, 추출시간 180분의 추출조건에서 무처리군의 회분함유량 8.81%(w/w), 발열량 3,958.3 kcal/kg 대비 각각 3.33%(w/w), 4,219.2 kcal/kg로 성능을 극대화시킬 수 있었으며, 팽이버섯 폐배지는 초산 3%(w/w), 무수구연산 1%(w/w) 첨가군, 액비 1:8, 추출온도 $65^{\circ}C$, 추출시간 180분의 추출조건에서 무처리군의 회분함유량 14.91%(w/w), 발열량 4,190.3 kcal/kg 대비 각각 4.07%(w/w), 4,627.6 kcal/kg로 성능이 극대화되었으며, 느타리버섯 폐배지는 초산 1%(w/w), 무수구연산 1%(w/w) 첨가군, 액비 1:7, 추출온도 $65^{\circ}C$, 추출시간 180분의 추출조건에서 무처리군 대비 회분함유량이 3.31%(w/w)에서 0.59%(w/w)로 감소효과가 극대화되었고 발열량은 4,558.6 kcal/kg 대비 4,216.2 kcal/kg로 감소효과가 최소화됨으로써 성능이 극대화되었다.

Separation of Zirconium and Hafnium from Zirconium Oxychloride (ZOC) Synthesis of Kalimantan Zircon Sand Concentrate Using Extraction Method with tributyl phosphate (TBP)-Dodecane in Nitric Acid Medium

  • The separation of zirconium and hafnium using tributyl phosphate (TBP)-Dodecane extractants in nitric acid medium was performed. Zirconium oxychloride, used as extraction feed, was obtained from the synthesis of Kalimantan zircon sand concentrate smelted using NaOH. The extraction process was carried out by dissolving chloride-based metals in nitric acid media in the presence of sodium nitrate using TBP-Dodecane as an extractant. Some of the extraction parameters carried out in this study include variations in organic phase and aqueous phase (O/A), variations in contact time, and variations in nitric acid concentration. Extraction was carried out using a mechanical shaker according to the parameter conditions. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) was used for elemental (Zr and Hf) composition analysis of the aqueous solution. The results showed that zirconium was separated from hafnium at optimum conditions with an organic/aqueous ratio of 1:5, contact time of 75 min, and an HNO3 concentration of 7 M. The resulting separation factor of zirconium and hafnium using TBP-Dodecane was 14.4887.

  • A study of the POSE (predispersed solvent extraction) for succinic acid by colloidalliq­uid aphrons was conducted. The organic phase contaning TOA (tri-n-octylamine) and 1-octanol permits a selective extraction of succinic acid from its aqueous solution. There was no difference of the extractability of POSE and that of conventional mixer-settler type extraction. Taking into account the no mechanical mixing in POSE, it was concluded that the POSE process is more adaptive than the conventional mixer-settler type extraction process. From mass transfer analysis at the various concentration of TOA in counter-current continuous operation, the concentration of TOA had no influence on the mass transfer coefficient. The loading values in continuous POSE were almost same as those in batch operation.

추출시간에 따른 돼지 족의 지방산과 칼슘, 마그테슘 함량 변화에 관한연구 (Studies on the Content of fatty Acid Calcium and Magnesium of Pig s Shank According to Extraction Time by Water)

  • The influence of extraction time on the fatty acid profile and the contents of calcium and magnesium in pig's shank were examined. The 9 kinds of fatty acid were identified in water extracts from pig's shank by GLC. The profiles of fatty acids from different extraction were similer to each other,. The content of linolenic acid was increased after two-hours extraction however the amounts of MUFA, PUFA and p/s ratio were decreased by the longer extraction time. The amount of calcium was 124.7mg% in raw materials but water extracts and bone powder samples showed higher values. in case of magnesium it was 138.4mg% in raw materials, but the extracts showed lower amount and bone powder exhibited higher values.

  • 1) 분획별(分劃別) 지질중(脂質中) triglyceride가 $73.4{\sim}77.2%$로 가장 높았고 채유방법별(採油方法別)로는 RWE의 triglyceride가 RTP와 RTE보다 높았다. 2) glycolipid(GL)의 oleic acid와 linoleic acid, tryglyceride(TG)의 linoleic acid, free fatty acid(FFA)의 oleic acid와 linoleic acid, phospholipid(PL)의 palmitic acid와 stearic acid는 RTP와 RTE가 RWE보다 높았으나 TG의 oleic acid, FFA의 palmitic acid와 stearic acid, PL의 oleic acid와 linoleic acid는 그 반대(反對)로 RTP와 RTE가 RWE보다 낮았다. 3) glycolipid 및 phospholipid의 $C_{18}/C_{16}$ 지방산비(脂肪酸比)와 불포화도비(不飽和度比)는 RTP와 RTE가 RWE보다 높았으나 triglyceride 및 free fatty acid의 그것은 반대(反對)로 RTP와 RTE가 RWE보다 낮다.

크라운에테르 포스포닉산 모노에틸 에스테르에 의한 알칼리 토금속 양이온의 경쟁 용매추출 (Competitive Solvent Extractions of Alkaline Earth Metal Cations by Crown Ether Phosphonic Acid Monoethyl Esters)

  • Competitive solvent extraction of alkaline earth metal cations from water into organic solvent containing the carboxylic acid crown ether and analogous crown ether phosphonic acid monoethyl esters were investigated. sym-(n-Decyldibenzo)-16-crown-5xyacetic acid $\underline{1}$ and monoethyl sym-(n-decyldibenzo)-16-crown-5-oxymethylphosphonic acid $\underline{3}$ are structurally identical except for the ionizable groups. Both of them provide similar extraction behavior in terms of efficiency and selectivity, but monoethyl sym-(n-decyldibenzo)-16-crown-5-oxymethylphosphonic acid $\underline{3}$ showed higher alkaline earth metals loadings at acidic or neutral media. Monoethylsym-(n-octyldibenzo)-16-rown-5-oxymethylphosphonic acid $\underline{2}$ showed better selectivity and alkaline earth metals loading than did the analogous sym-(n-octyldibenzo)-16-crown-5-oxymethyldiphosphonic acid $\underline{6}$.

마그네슘이 함유된 황산용액에서 Versatic acid-10에 의한 코발트와 니켈의 선택적 추출 (Selective Extraction of Cobalt and Nickel in the Presence of Magnesium from Sulphate Solutions by Versatic Acid 10)

  • 황산용액에서 코발트와 니켈을 마그네슘으로부터 분리하기 위해 추출제로 Cyanex272, PC88A 그리고 Versatic acid 10를 사용하여 추출실험을 실시하였다. 코발트, 니켈 및 마그네슘의 추출거동을 비교 실험한 결과, Versatic acid 10이 가장 우수하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 평형 pH 7.0에서 Versatic acid 10을 사용하여 약 98%의 코발트와 니켈이 추출되고, 5% 이하의 마그네슘이 공추출 되었다. McCabe-Thiele 도표 분석으로부터 pH 7.0, 상비(A/O) 2.0에서 10% Versatic acid 10에 의해 코발트와 니켈을 추출하기 위해서는 2단이 필요하였다. 유기상에 추출된 코발트 및 니켈은 70g/L H2SO4 이상인 경우 효과적으로 탈거가 가능하였고, 이때 코발트는 99.78%, 니켈은 98.42% 탈거되었다.

금이 함유된 왕수용액으로부터 TBP(tributyl phosphate) 용매추출에 의한 질산과 금의 분리 (Separation of Nitric Acid and Gold from Gold Bearing Aqua Regia Solution by Solvent Extraction with TBP(tributyl phosphate))

  • TBP(tributyl phosphate)를 사용하여 왕수 침출액으로부터 질산과 금을 추출하여 회수하는 공정을 개발하기 위한 기초연구가 수행되었다. 순수한 왕수용액으로부터 추출제의 농도, 질산과 염산의 농도 비에 따른 질산의 추출거동을 조사하였으며, 금을 함유하는 왕수용액으로부터 질산과 금의 추출율을 구하였다. McCabe-Thiele 도로부터 얻어진 조업단수와 상비로 역류추출을 행하여 이론적인 추출단수를 검증하였다. 유기상에 장진된 질산과 금의 연속적인 회수를 위한 탈거실험을 수행하였다. 질산과 금의 추출과 염산의 영향을 고려하여 O/A = 1:0.85의 조건으로 역류추출을 통해 2단에 의해 $103.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$의 금은 99.9% 추출되었으며, 3단에 의해 $151.2g{\cdot}L^{-1}$의 질산은 98.0% 추출되었다. 질산과 금의 탈거제로는 증류수와 티오황산나트륨이 사용되었으며 탈거율은 각각 99.5%, 92.0%이었다. 이와 같은 연구결과로 왕수용액에 함유되어 있던 금과 질산을 동시에 추출하고 연속적인 탈거공정에 의해서 질산과 금을 회수하는 것이 가능함을 확인하였다.
