  • PRA(Position Reporting Accuracy) for EO/IR(Electro-Optic/Infrared) airborne camera is an important factor in geo-pointing accuracy. Generally, rate table is used to measure PRA of gimbal actuated camera like EO/IR. However, it is not always possible to fix an EUT(Equipment for Under Test) to rate table due to capacity limit of the table on the size and weight of the object(EUT). Our EO/IR is too big and heavy to emplace on it. Therefore, we propose a new verification method of PRA for airborne camera and assess the validity of our proposition. In this method we use collimator, angle measuring instrument, 6 dof motion simulator, optical surface plate, leveling laser, inclinometer and poster(for alignment).

  • A tape feeder of a SMD(Surface Mount Device) mounter is a device that sequentially feeds electronic components on a tape reel to the pick-up system of the mounter. As components are getting much smaller, feeding accuracy of a feeder becomes one of the most important factors for successful component pick-up. Therefore, it is critical to keep the feeding accuracy to a specified level in the assembly and production of tape feeders. This paper describes a tape feeder inspection system that was developed to automatically measure and inspect feeding accuracy using machine vision. It consists of a feeder base, an image acquisition system, and a personal computer. The image acquisition system is composed of CCD cameras with lens ...

  • It is the main problem to measure the position and orientation of a robot end effector for the calibration of robots. The calibration methods can be used as a tool to improve the accuracy of robots without change of the arm or control architecture of robots. But such calibration methods require the accurate measurements. Dynamic measurement of position and orientation Provides a solution of this problem and improves dynamic accuracy by dynamic calibration o( robots. This paper describes the development o( the laser tracking system capable of determining the static and dynamic performance of industrial robots. The structure and system components are presented and basic experimental results are included to demonstrate the instrument performance. The system can be applied to the remote controlled mobile robots as weil as the calibration of robots.

  • It is very important to test linear cycle positioning accuracy of Machining centers as it affect all other machines machined by them in industries. For example, if the linear positioning accuracy of each axes directions is bad, the size of works will be wrong and the change-ability will be bad in the assembly of machine parts. In this paper, measuring systems are organized to measure linear displacements of table or spindle of machine center using laser interferometer, magnescale and tick pulses comming out from computer in order to get data at constant time intervals from the sensors. And each set of data gotten from test is expressed to a plots by computer treatment and the results of linear positioning error motion is estimated to numerics by statistical treatments.

  • A new method of automatic recording raingauge is developed to measure rainfall 1200mm full scale with high accuracy and resolution. The principle of new instrument is to detect a weight change of a buoyant weight according to a change in water level of raingauge measured by the use of a strain gauge load cell. This method has the advantage of increasing measurement accuracy, since no moving equipment is used. Laboratory test of the instrument was recorded 0.4% error of 190mm rainfall amount. The validity of new instrument was examined by comparing its measured values with values recorded by automatic weather station on June 24 to 25 2001 at Daegu Meteorological Station, when there is 148.3mm rainfall amount. In spite of much rainfall there is only 0.77mm difference of total rainfall amount. This instrument was accomplished high accuracy and resolution at field test in much rainy day.

  • The outcomes of counts commonly occur in the area of disease mapping for mortality rates or disease rates. A Poisson distribution is usually assumed as a model of disease rates in conjunction with a gamma prior. The small area typically refers to a small geographical area or demographic group for which very little information is available from the sample surveys. Under this situation the model-based estimation is very popular, in which the auxiliary variables from various administrative sources are used. The empirical Bayes estimator under Poissongamma model has been considered with its accuracy measures. An accuracy measure using a bootstrap samples adjust the underestimation incurred by the posterior variance as an estimator of true mean squared error. We explain the suggested method through a practical dataset of hitters in baseball games. We also perform a Monte Carlo study to compare the accuracy measures of mean squared error.

  • This paper presented a new measuring system to improve circular motion accuracy by using two-dimensonal probe and master ring for NC machine tools. This measuring system reduced the circular motion error conspicuously by eliminating the influence of the acceleration/deceleration range and compensating the friction force whose influences were significant while measuring the motion. Experimental results show that this system had enough accuracy to measure a circular motion for NC machine tools, compared with the circular test method and the r .theta. method.

  • The video similarity measure is very important factor to index and to retrieve for video data. In this paper, we propose the luminance projection model to measure the video similarity efficiently. Most algorithms for video indexing have been commonly used histograms, edges, or motion features, whereas in this paper, the proposed algorithm is employed an efficient measure using the luminance projection. To index effectively the video sequences and to decrease the computational complexity, we calculate video similarity using the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure, and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results show that the proposed luminance projection model yields the remarkable accuracy and performance than the conventional algorithm.

  • This paper describes a distance measurement system with high accuracy that utilizes a stereo-based camera and a pan-tilt unit for automatically maintaining the positional relationship between a vessel and a target on the side of a facility at a close range. The measurement system offers an advantage in that it can measure the distance to a target while tracking it. In order to improve the ability to control the position of a vessel between it and a target while maintaining the distance especially at a close range, the accuracy of the measurement system has to be improved. The accuracy of the distance measured by our system is increased with revisions of the conclusively generated data of distance measurement. We verified the accuracy of our system from an experiment, which generated results that had an accuracy of 30 mm for distances in the range between 2-8 m.

  • In the GPS attitude determination system, the baseline length constraints can be used efficiently to reduce the search space. It is possible by adopting the assumptions that the baseline length doesn't change and the true baseline length is precisely known. But in real situation, the baseline length might be changed by many reasons and it is impossible to measure the true baseline length because there exists measurement error and antenna phase centre movement. In order to analyze the effect of the baseline length accuracy, one needs to know the relation between the accuracy of the baseline length and success rates of the integer ambiguity resolution. In this paper, the effect of the baseline length accuracy to the integer ambiguity resolution in the attitude determination system is analyzed by empirical method. The results show that the margins in the baseline length accuracy is less than a few cm which implies that one should take great cares when applying the attitude determination system to the flexible structures.
