A Study on the Sensor Calibration of Motion Capture System using PSD Sensor to Improve the Accuracy (PSD 센서를 이용한 모션캡쳐센서의 정밀도 향상을 위한 보정에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper we will deal with a calibration method for low cost motion capture system using psd(position sensitive detection) optical sensor. To measure the incident direction of the light from LED emitted marker, the PSD is used the output current ratio on the electrode of PSD is proportional with the incident position of the light focused by lens. In order to defect the direction of the light, the current output is converted into digital voltage value by opamp circuits peak detector and AD converter with the digital value the incident position is measured. Unfortunately, due to the non-linearly problem of the circuit poor position accuracy is shown. To overcome such problems, we compensated the non-linearly by using least-square fitting method. After compensated the non-linearly in the circuit, the system showed more enhanced position accuracy.

  • In this paper, ECG based cardiac disease diagnosis models are developed. Conventionally, ECG monitoring equipments can only measure and store ECG signals and they always require medical doctor's diagnosis actions which are not desirable for continuous ambulatory monitoring and diagnosis healthcare systems. In this paper, two kinds of neural based self cardiac disease diagnosis engines are developed and tested for four kinds of diseases, sinus bradycardia, sinus tachycardia, left bundle branch block and right bundle branch block. For diagnosis engines, error backpropagation neural network (BP) and probabilistic neural network (PNN) were applied. Five signal features including heart rate, QRS interval, PR interval, QT interval, and T wave types were selected for diagnosis characteristics. To show the validity of proposed diagnosis engine, MIT-BIH database were used to test. Test results showed that BP based diagnosis engine has 71% of diagnosis accuracy which is superior to accuracy of PNN based diagnosis engine. However, PNN based diagnosis engine showed superior diagnosis accuracy for complex-disease diagnoses than BP based diagnosis engine.

A study for assessing accuracy rates of pain rating Scales(KPRS & VAS) (국어통증 척도와 시각적 상사 척도의 정확도 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the accuracy rates(hit ratio) which mean the degree of concordance between pain rating scale differences over time & subjective comparisons. Subjective comparisons mean the responses to the question “how does the pain you are now experiencing compare with the one at the time of the assessment yesterday\ulcorner” Answers to this question were translated into ‘greater’, ‘same’, or ‘less’. KPRS(Korean Pain Rating Scale) was developed through 4 consecutive studies to assess pain extensively & accurately by Lee etc. VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) was reported as valid & veliable measure for the intensity of pain by many researchers. Thirty hospitalized patients with complaints of Headache were partispated in this study during the period from May 1 to July 31, 1987. In conclusion, the accuracy rates of KPRS and VAS were 60%, 67%, respectively.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is widely used for biomechanics in sports activities and AHRS(Attitude and Heading Reference System) is a more cost effective solution than conventional high-grade IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units) that only integrate gyroscopes. In this paper, we attach the AHRS to the snowboard to measure the motion data like Air To Fakie, Caballerial and Free Style. In order to reduce the measurement error, we have adopted the sensors equipped with Kalman filtering and also used Euler angle to quaternion conversion to reduce the Gimbal-lock effect. We have tested and evaluated the accuracy and execution time of the pattern recognition algorithms like PCA, ICA, LDA, SVM to show the recognition possibility of it on the basic motions of Snowboarding from the 9-axis trajectory information which is gathered from AHRS sensor. With the result, PCA, ICA have low accuracy, but SVM have good accuracy to use for recognition of basic motions of Snowboarding.

  • We have reported the new measurement system which was substituted digital filter for the analog filter in order to develop the optimal system that could find the time delay between each sensors with high accuracy. And also we have confirmed through the experiments that the accuracy of measurements were differentiated by the methods what kind of digital filter had been adopted. This paper suggests two algorithms which approximate the sound source's bearing and distance. One is that sound source's relative bearing can be approximately regarded as the gradient of hyperbolic asymptote, the other is that the source's range can be approximated under the condition of a long range source relative to the sensor's interval. And a series of experiments were carried out with the source's distance 22.42meters and the random bearing interval within the limits of $-90^{\circ}$~$+90^{\circ}$. As a result, we have recognized that the approximation methods could measure the bearing and distance with higher accuracy than the method using trigonometric relation could do.

  • The further development of information, communication and digital media technologies requires the use of advanced, miniaturized semiconductor chips that operate at a high frequency. Die bonding and wire bonding methods for semiconductor packaging have been replaced by direct attachment to the substrate after forming a bump on the chip. However, the height of the bump or ball is an important factor for defects during assembly. This paper proposes an algorithm to measure the height of the bumps or balls in semiconductor packaging with greater accuracy. The performance of the proposed algorithm is experimentally validated. Non-contact 3D measurements of a shiny round ball is quite difficult, and it is not easy to obtain accurate data. This paper thus proposes an optical method and technique to improve the measurement accuracy.

  • An interferometer is the unique measurement device that can measure the range up to a few meters with sub-nano accuracy and this characteristic makes it as the important sensing device for the emerging nano-mechatronics technologies. The interferometer, however, is very sensitive to the environments such as temperature, humidity, sound noises, vibrations and air turbulences and these factors result in a few hundred nano meter errors. There have been many efforts to reduce these environmental errors. These efforts are mainly focused in reducing the errors inside the interferometer and improving the environments physically. The purpose of this paper is to improve accuracy of the interferometer by using measurement noise models and the Kalman filter algorithm.

  • This paper presents the measurement and correction of PCB alignment errors for PCB-manufacturing machines. The conventional PCB-manufacturing machine doesn't have enough accuracy to accommodate the demand for high-resolution circuit pattern and high-density mounting capacity of electronic chips. It is because of alignment errors of PCB loaded to the PCB-manufacturing machine. Therefore, this study focuses on the development of the system which is able to measure and correct alignment errors whit high-accuracy. An automatic optical inspection part measures the PCB alignment error using two cameras, and the high-accuracy 3-axis stage makes correct of these error. The operating system is run in the environment of Window 98 (or NT). Finally we implemented this system to PCB screen printer and PCB exposure system.

  • The cute. race of CV(constant velocity) Joint is an important load-supporting automotive part, which transmits torque between the transmission gear box and driving wheel. The outer race is difficult to forge because its shape is very complicated and the required dimensional tolerances are very small. The forged CV Joint investigated in this study has six inner ball grooves requiring high operational accuracy. Therefore, the precise measurement of forged CV Joint is very important to guarantee the sound operation without noise and abnormal wear. In this study, unique in-situ measuring system designed specifically to measure the dimensional accuracy of six inner ball grooves of CV joint has been developed and implemented in shop environments. Newly developed system shows high measurement accuracy with simple operational sequence.

  • Recently various thematic maps and image maps using aerial photograph and satellite imagery are frequently made. The geo-referencing is essential to make image map and topographic map using aerial photograph and satellite imagery. For this geo-referencing, Ground Control Points (GCPs) are needed. In this paper, we used GPS relative positioning to measure GCP ground coordinate and the accuracy of 8cm level was achieved. We made GCP image chips for the efficiency of geo-referencing and carried out the bundle adjustment of aerial photographs using GCP image chips to acquire the GCP photo coordinate with image matching technique. Finally we analyzed the accuracy of bundle adjustment compared to the accuracy of the case in using digital maps to acquire GCP photo coordinate.
