생해재해와 사망재해의 사고특성에 관한 비교 연구 (Comparative study of accident characteristics between occupational deaths and injuries)

  • This study is undertaken to investigate the differences of accident characteristics between occupational deaths and nonfatal injuries in overall industry of Korea. The national statistics of industrial accidents in the years 1991-1994 were extracted from the annual publications of Ministry of Labor. To make the statistical comparisons for the accident characteristics, we derived the destributions of occupational deaths and injuries in terms of injured person's age, work experience, tiem of accident, activity at time of accident, accident type, injury type, injured part of body, and agency of accident. The results show that the distributions of the occupational deaths are significantly different from those of the nonfatal injuries in all characteristics investigated in this study. These findings indicate that the accident prevention programs should be developed and implemented by taking into account the characteristics of working environments based on accident analysis.

  • 본 연구는 지역 교통사고 원인조사의 관리주체인 도로관리청에서 교통사고를 효율적이면서 효과적으로 관리하고 시행할 수 있는 교통사고 원인조사 기법 및 절차를 제시하였다. 또한, 시범도시를 선정하여 최근 3년간 교통사고 중 사망사고 자료를 바탕으로 사고형태지도, 구조분석표 및 사고도표의 작성, 사고누적지점 및 구간의 선정과 우선순위, 현장조사 및 개선시책의 결정, 기회비용의 추정, 모니터링 방안 등 향후 도로관리청의 교통사고 원인조사의 기술적, 조직적 및 행정적 프로세스를 적용하여 예상되는 사고감소효과에 대해 분석하였다.

A study on the classification of consumer types based on food safety attitudes: focusing on the Fukushima nuclear accident

  • The purposes of this study were to classify consumer types and to analyze purchase behavior depending on food safety attitudes related to the Fukushima nuclear accident. Based on the consumer survey data, factor analysis and cluster analysis were done to classify consumer types. Applying factor analysis, six factors with a total variance of 73.4% were extracted from 22 basic variables. The 6 factors were termed 'anxiety from ingesting agricultural and fishery products after the nuclear accident', 'importance of food safety when purchasing food', 'reduced rate of purchases of agricultural and fishery products after the accident', 'importance of food prices', 'socio-demographic characteristics' and 'family composition'. Using cluster analysis, consumers were classified into 5 types using the factor scores of 6 factors. The main results are as follows. For every consumer type, the anxiety about imported agricultural and fishery products was higher than that for domestic products after the nuclear accident. The food safety attitudes of consumers were mainly formed by the socio-demographic characteristics. Consumer types with high-education and high-income responded flexibly to the food safety concerning the accident; especially, the consumer type with a high-income and kids under 19 responded very reasonably to the accident. However, consumer types with a low-income and aged over 50 or less than 30 years were the least responsive to the accident, mainly due to financial restrictions. Thus, we suggest some food safety strategies and policy implications based on consumer type for food safety after the accident.

Occupational Accidents and Injuries for Moving Helpers

  • Objective: This study aims to analyze occupational accidents of moving helpers by work place type which means the type of residence where moving operation is done. Background: Most efforts have been focused on the industry base comprising various occupational spectrum and provided industry general preventative policies. But occupation specific policies are required for the workers involved and will reduce the occurrences of occupational accidents for the workers subject to similar working environment and process. Method: This study analyzes 208 non-motor vehicle collision related occupational accidents of moving helpers working for used household and office goods moving industry occurring from 2010 to 2012. Accident Type, agencies, event or exposure, parts of body affected are characterized by work places according to the work environment. Results: Accidents characteristics showed the difference between high-rise type and low-rise type on the size of enterprise, age, gender and work experience of the injured. Also the accident type, source of accident and parts of body affected are different between the two work place types. Finally, Accidents occurred on the specific operational processes of moving service also showed different characteristic between the two types. Conclusion and Application: The findings of accident characteristics according to workplace types and operational process of moving service can be used as baseline data for establishing systemized preventative policies for occupational accidents of moving helpers.

전복사고에서의 탑승자 손상중증도에 미치는 요인 분석 (Factors affecting injury severity of occupant in rollover accident)

  • Fatality of accidents on curved roads where rollover accidents are likely to take place was higher than that on straight roads. We ought to investigate factors affecting injury severity of occupant in a vehicle rollover accident. From January 2011 to December 2013, we collected data about rollover motor vehicle crash accident. We surveyed occupant's injury, vehicle type, safety devices, type of rollover accident and the number of turn in accident. Of the 132 subjects, 56.1% were males, 50.8% were drivers, 48.5% fastened seat belt, and air bag deployed in 12.1%. Among injuries sustained head, chest and abdomen were major sites of severe injury(Abbreviated injury scale>2). Seat belt use, rollover type, and the number of 1/4 turn were found to have significant positive correlations with Injury Severity Score. The regression analysis herein found significance in safety belt use and the number of 1/4 turn. Seat belt use was a significant factor affecting injury severe of occupant in rollover accident.

실험실의 사고사례 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Accident Cases in Laboratories)

  • 대학 실험실이나 연구시설에서 실험실 사고에 의해 인적 및 물적 손실이 꾸준히 발생되고 있어서 실험실 사고예방의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 실험실 사고예방을 위해 무엇보다 중요한 것은 사고의 체계적인 분석이다. 국내에서 산업재해에 관한 분석 연구는 수행되어 왔으나, 실험실 사고 분석에 관한 연구는 수행되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 실험실 사고예방 대책 수립을 위해 설문지를 개발하였고, 설문지는 대학과 연구기관에 전자우편이나 방문조사로 사고사례를 수집하였다. 사고사례 데이터는 계절별, 사고 분류형태, 발생형태, 기인물 및 상해종류 별로 분석 고찰하였다. 이 연구결과는 실험실 종사자의 안전 확보와 사고예방을 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 하였다.

종사상 지위별 음식 배달 종사자의 이륜차 산업재해 특성 분석 (Characteristic Analysis of Occupational Motorcycle Accidents for Food Delivery Workers by Employment Status)

  • This study analyzes the characteristics of occupational accidents of food delivery via motorcycle in terms of accident probability and work-days. Depending on their employment status, food-delivery workers were divided into "employed" workers (who work for restaurants) and "special-type" workers (who work for delivery platforms). Collected data include occupational accident-information during the last two years (1,468 cases for employed workers and 4,899 cases for special-type workers) and their risk information such as age, work experience, accident location, season of the accident, and weather conditions. The study finds that special-type workers had a significantly higher accident probability for the younger age group (80.8%), while employed workers had more accidents in both 20's or younger (34.9%) and 50's or older (25.4%). The number of work-days-lost was higher for special-type workers with less work experience, and it decreased with increasing work experience. Moreover, the chance for accidents was higher at night time (55%) than for day time (45%) for special-type workers as well as for employed workers. The number of work-days-lost was higher in foreign workers (180.79 days) than in Korean workers (121.44 days). Accident probability (30.7%) and work-days-lost (136.2 days) was higher in winter than in other seasons. In addition, accidents-per-day was higher on snowy days (12.7 cases per day) than rainy (8.1) and windy days (7.1). In addition, it was found that deadly accidents mainly caused injuries to face, head, and chest, while non-deadly accidents affected mainly the legs and feet. This study enables the development of better policies to prevent accidents of food delivery workers.

가산자료 모형을 이용한 국내 원형교차로 유형별 교통사고 분석 (Analysis of Traffic Accident by Circular Intersection Type in Korea Using Count Data Model)

  • This study aims to develop the traffic accident models by circular intersection type using count data model. The number of accident, the number of fatal and injured persons(FSI), and EPDO are calculated from the traffic accident data of TAAS. The circular intersection accident models are developed through Poisson and negative binomial regression analysis. The main results of this study are as follows. First, the null hypotheses that there are differences in the number of traffic accidents, FSI and EPDO by type of circular intersections are rejected. Second, the scale of intersection(median, large), number of approach road, mean width and length of exit road, area of the circulating roadway and central island are selected as factors influencing the number of traffic accidents, FSI and EPDO in rotary. Third, the scale of intersection(median), guide signs(limited speed, direction, roundabout), number of approach road, entry angle, area of the intersection and central island are adopted as factors influencing the number of traffic accidents, FSI and EPDO in roundabout. Finally, transferring from rotary to roundabout could be expected to make the accident decrease.

  • Modular Construction is regarded as having enhanced safety compared to traditional construction since most of modular manufacturing process in plants. Unlike general consideration for safety in modular construction, several industrial accident data and studies have pointed out that the accident rate of modular construction is not enough less as much as the practitioners have expected. It means that there is a clear need for improvement of safety management in modular construction. To enhance safety, it is necessary to identify the type and cause of accident through accident cases in order to prevent safety accident in advance. In this consideration, this study analyzed the types and causes of accidents through root cause analysis procedure with accident cases of U.S. OSHA. The classification was carried out in the order of process type, accident type and cause of accident. By following the classification criteria in this study, the causal factor was derived and the root cause map was created. Based on the analysis results, cross-analysis was conducted and it is shown that activity characteristics of modular construction are related to safety accidents. In addition, prevention methods to reduce safety accident by major activity are presented in terms of organizational, educational and technical aspects. This study contributes that the result can be used as the basic safety management in the manufacturing and construction process of modular construction.

구조방정식모형을 활용한 단속류 시설의 교통사고 유형별 유발요인 분석 (Factor Analysis of Accident Types on Urban Street using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM))

  • 우리나라의 교통사고 발생현황은 2008년 기준 215,822건으로 예년에 비하여 소폭 감소하는 추세이나 주요 선진국에 비해서는 여전히 높은 수준이다. 그 중 단속류 시설에서 발생하는 사고는 보행자들이 직접적으로 차량에 노출되어 차대사람 사고의 비율이 높아 심각한 결과를 유발하기 때문에 이를 방지하기 위한 추가적인 고려가 필요하다. 이에 교통사고의 유형별로 영향을 미치는 인자를 분석하였다. 단속류 시설에서 교통사고는 크게 차대차 사고와 차대 사람 사고로 그 성격과 특성이 구분될 수 있다. 따라서 교통사고 유형을 크게 두가지로 구분하고, 2005년부터 2007년까지 서대문구에서 발생한 교통사고 자료 분석을 통해 교통사고의 심각도와 외생적 변수들간의 관계를 추정하였다. 본 연구에서는 단속류 시설에서 교통사고 유형별 요인을 구조방정식모형(SEM : Structural Equation Modeling)을 이용하여 도출해내고, 모형을 구축하여 유형별로 사고의 주요인들을 파악하여 비교하였다. 최종 모형에서 도출된 결론은 차대차 사고에서는 도로 요인이, 차대사람 사고에서는 환경 요인이 크게 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
