IEEE 802.lie is a new standard to support Quality of Service. HCCA(HCF controlled channel access) is a channel access mechanism, which polls the Qos-stations, utilized by the HC in AP. In this paper, we proposed an efficient scheduling algorithm in HCCA and compared with existing algorithms. Extensive simulation has done in ns-2 and the simulation results show our algorithm outperforms existing algorithms.

In this paper, The new scheme for Demand Assigned Multiple Access(DAMA) system is proposed. To focus on the onboard processor's specific monitoring of output port of the downlink, we found the Throughput and Blocking probability by the request traffic(λ) and channel's departure probability(Ρ).
In this paper, we analyzed cell loss rate performance for random traffic sources in wireless ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) access architecture, which consists of access node and wireless channel. Applying queueing model to cell level at access node and considering burst error characteristics in wireless channel, we derived a formula about the cell loss rate of the random traffic in the wireless ATM access architecture. We also applied FEC(Forward Error Correction) schemes to improve the cell loss rate of random traffic. When we applied FEC schemes in the wireless ATM access architecture, we confirmed that the concatenated code provides the most superior performance compared to any other codes.

In this paper, we proposed and evaluated ARAH(Adaptive Random Access algorithm for HIPERLAN/2) to improve system performance. In this paper, HIPERLAN/2 uses OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation scheme to select appropriate PHY mode by Radio Channel Quality, Proposed the ARAH scheme uses these 7 PHY mode when mobile terminal determines the RCH(Random CHannel) number for random access. In this paper, these 7 PHY mode divided into two group, good and bad, and will be given high priority to mobile terminals which are in a good group. In the result of performance evaluation. ARAH algorithm, ARAH has a better performance of throughput and delay than existing algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a traffic load control scheme, called fast congestion control (FCC), for a satellite channel using enhanced random access schemes. The packet repetition used by enhanced random access schemes increases not only the maximum throughput but also the sensitivity to traffic load. FCC controls traffic load by using an access probability, and estimates backlogged traffic load. If the backlogged traffic load exceeds the traffic load corresponding to the maximum throughput, FCC recognizes congestion state, and processes the backlogged traffic first. The new traffic created during the congestion state accesses the channel after the end of congestion state. During the congestion state, FCC guarantees fast transmission of the backlogged traffic. Therefore, FCC is very suitable for the military traffic which has to be transmit urgently. We simulate FCC and other traffic load control schemes, and validate the superiority of FCC in latency.

When the mobile device moves from the coverage of one access point to the radio coverage of another access point it needs to maintain its connection with the current access point before it successfully discovers the new access point, this process is known as handoff. During handoff the acceptable delay a voice over IP application can bear is of 50ms whereas the delay on medium access control layer is high enough that goes up to 350-500ms. This research provides a suitable methodology on medium access control layer of the IEEE 802.11 network. The medium access control layer comprises of three phases, namely discovery, reauthentication and re-association. The discovery phase on medium access control layer takes up to 90% of the total handoff latency. The objective is to effectively reduce the delay for discovery phase to ensure a seamless handoff. The research proposes a scheme that reduces the handoff latency effectively by scanning channels prior to the actual handoff process starts and scans only the neighboring access points. Further, the proposed scheme enables the mobile device to scan first the channel on which it is currently operating so that the mobile device has to perform minimum number of channel switches. The results show that the mobile device finds out the new potential access point prior to the handoff execution hence the delay during discovery of a new access point is minimized effectively.
Nowadays, Power Line Communication (PLC) is gaining high attention from industry and electric supply companies for the services like demand response, demand side management and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The reliable services to consumers using PLC can be provided by utilizing an efficient PLC channel for which sophisticated channel modeling is very important. This paper presents characterization of a Low Voltage (LV) access network for Narrowband Power Line Communications (NB-PLC) using transmission line (TL) theory and a Simulink model. The TL theory analysis not only includes the constant parameters but frequency selectivity is also introduced in these parameters such as resistance, conductance and impedances. However, the proposed Simulink channel model offers an analysis and characterization of capacitive coupler, network impedance and channel transfer function for NB-PLC. Analysis of analytical and simulated results shows a close agreement of the channel transfer function. In the absence of a standardized NBPLC channel model, this research work can prove significant in improving the efficiency and accuracy of NB-PLC communication transceivers for Smart Grid communications.
In this paper, we address the problem of designing multirate codes for a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system by restricting the receiver to be a successive decoding and interference cancellation type, when each of the antennas is encoded independently. Furthermore, it is assumed that the receiver knows the instantaneous fading channel states but the transmitter does not have access to them. It is well known that, in theory, minimummean- square error (MMSE) based successive decoding of multiple access (in multi-user communications) and MIMO channels achieves the total channel capacity. However, for this scheme to perform optimally, the optimal rates of each antenna (per-antenna rates) must be known at the transmitter. We show that the optimal per-antenna rates at the transmitter can be estimated using only the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channel in time-varying Rayleigh MIMO channel environments. Based on the results, multirate codes are designed using punctured turbo codes for a horizontal codedMIMOsystem. Simulation results show performances within about one to two dBs of MIMO channel capacity.

Mobile communication systems are required not only to support high-data-rate transmissions in favorable channel conditions but also to be able to tolerate hostile environments possibly encountered by cellular communications. This paper compares CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access), OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), and MC-CDMA(Multi-Carrier CDMA)with inaccurate channel estimates and low SNR environments. The equations and simulation results show that the performance losses in CDMA systems due to imprecise channel estimates are not considerable while frequency-hopping of OFDM systems can result in more than l0dB SNR losses. Also, this paper show that frequency-spreading of MC-CDMA can be very helpful for channel compensation performances than frequency-hopping or time-spreading of OFDM.

Cognitive radio (CR) has been recently proposed to dynamically access unused-spectrum. Since the spectrum availability for opportunistic access is determined by spectrum sensing, sensing control is identified as one of the most crucial issues of cognitive radio networks. Out-of-band sensing to find an available channels to sense. Sensing is also required in case of spectrum hand-off. Sensing process needs to be done very fast in order to enhance the quality of service (QoS) of the CR nodes, and transmission not to be cut for longer time. During the sensing, the PU(primary user) detection probability condition should be satisfied. We adopt a channel prediction method to find target channels. Proposed prediction method combines chaotic global method and chaotic local method for channel idle probability prediction. Global method focus on channel history information length and order number of prediction model. Local method focus on local prediction trend. Through making simulation, Proposed method can find an available channel with very high probability, total sensing time is minimized, detection probability of PU's are satisfied.
