The accurate calculation of bucket tip position has a large influence on showing the motion of an excavator on the display device of the excavator and controlling the excavator automatically. It is generally known that Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors are more accurate than accelerometer-based sensors while the boom, arm or bucket moves because additional forces beyond gravity add additional acceleration to the sensors. To prove the accuracy difference between the two types of sensors, a position recognition system using an accelerometer-based sensor and an IMU sensor is implemented on the excavator. The experimental results show that the system using the IMU sensor significantly reduces the position recognition error while bucket moves and additional force beyond gravity exists.

In airborne gravimetry, there are two data streams. One is the specific force measured by an air/sea gravimeter or accelerometers, the other is kinematic acceleration measured by DGPS. And the difference of them provides the gravity disturbance information. To satisfy the requirement of most applications, an accuracy of 1mGal $(1mCal=10^{-5}m/s^{2})$ with a spatial resolution of 1km is the aim of current airborne gravimetry. There are two different methods to derive the kinematic acceleration. The generally used method is to differentiate the position twice, and the position can be calculated by commercial DGPS software. The main defect of this method is that integer ambiguities need to be fixed to get the precise position solution, but it's not a trivial thing for long base line. And to fix integer ambiguities, the noisier iono-free measurement is used. When differentiation is applied, noise is amplified and will influence the accuracy of acceleration. The other method is to get carrier phase acceleration by differentiate the carrier phase first, and then using the acceleration of GPS satellite to derive the vehicle acceleration. The main advantages include that fixing integer ambiguities is not needed anymore, position can be relaxed to about 10 meters, and smoother acceleration can be got since iono-free measurement is not needed. In some literatures, it's considered that the dynamic performance of the second method is inferior to that of the first. Through analysis, it is found that the performance degradation in dynamic environment results from the simplification of the GPS carrier phase observable model. And an iterative algorithm is presented to compensate the model error. Using a dynamic GPS data from an aeromagnetic survey, the importance of this compensation is showed at last.

Time of difference of arrival (TDOA) method using passive sonar sensor array has normally been used to estimate the location of a concealed moving target in underwater environment. Particle filter has been introduced for effective target estimation for non-Gaussian and nonlinear systems. In this paper, we propose a GPU-based acceleration of target position estimation using particle filter and propose efficient embedded system and software architecture. For the TDOA measurement from the passive sonar sensor, we use the generalized cross correlation phase transform (GCC-PHAT) method to obtain the correlation coefficient of the signal using FFT and we try to accelerate the calculation of GCC-PHAT based TDOA measurements using FFT with GPU CUDA. We also propose parallelization method of the target position estimation algorithm using the GPU CUDA to update the state of each particle for the target position estimation using the measured values. The target estimation algorithm was verified using Matlab and implemented using GPU CUDA. Then, we realized the proposed signal processing acceleration system using NVIDIA Jetson TX1 as the target board to analyze in terms of the execution time. The execution time of the algorithm is reduced by 55% to the CPU standalone-operation on the target board. Experiment results show that the proposed architecture is a feasible solution in terms of high-performance and area-efficient architecture.

Sensor used by semiconductor process produced an MAP sensor and applied to several industry. Among those sensors divided as transducer which convert physical quantity into electrical value, piezoresistive type sensor has been studied for the properties and sensitivity of piezoresistor. In this paper, the variation of seismic mass which have been functioned as actuator moving the cantilever beam analyzed the effect on distribution of resistance change ratio and supposed the optimal shape and position of piezoresistor. The resulting are following; According to the increment of seismic mass size, the value of resistance change ratio decreased caused by improve the stiffness. Y directional piezoresistor is formed in spot of 100 m apart from cantilever edge and length of that is 800$\mu$m. To increase the sensitivity, piezoresistor is made as n-type and x-direction.

In this paper, a simple version of the hybrid navigation system using Kalman filter is proposed. The implemented hybrid navigation system is composed of a GPS to measure the position and the velocity, and a IMU(inertial measurement unit) to measure the acceleration and the posture of a mobile robot. A discrete Kalman filter is applied to provide the position of the robot by fusing both of the sensor data. When GPS signal is available, the navigation system estimates the position of the robot from the Kalman filter using position and velocity from GPS, and acceleration from IMU. During the interval until next GPS signal arrives, the system calculates the position of the robot using acceleration from IMU and velocity obtained at the previous step. Performance of the navigation system is verified by comparing the real path and the estimated path of the mobile robot. From experiments, we conclude that the navigation system is acceptable for the mobile robot.
Purpose: This study aimed to install an RTK-GPS (Real Time Kinematic-Global Positioning System) and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) on a tractor used in a farm to measure positions, pasture topography, posture angles, and vibration accelerations, translate the information into maps using the GIS, analyze the characteristics of grass harvesting work, and establish new technologies and construction standards for pasture infrastructure improvement based on the analyzed data. Method: Tractor's roll, pitch, and yaw angles and vibration accelerations along the three axes during grass harvesting were measured and a GIS map prepared from the data. A VRS/RTK-GPS (MS750, Trimble, USA) tractor position measuring system and an IMU (JCS-7401A, JAE, JAPAN) tractor vibration acceleration measuring systems were mounted on top of a tractor and below the operator's seat to obtain acceleration in the direction of progression, transverse acceleration, and vertical acceleration at 10Hz. In addition, information on regions with bad workability was obtained from an operator performing grass harvesting and compared with information on changes in tractor posture angles and vibration acceleration. Results: Roll and pitch angles based on the y-axis, the direction of forward movements of tractor coordinate systems, changed by at least $9-13^{\circ}$ and $8-11^{\circ}$ respectively, leading to changes in working postures in the central and northern parts of the pasture that were designated as regions with bad workability during grass harvesting. These changes were larger than those in other regions. The synthesized vectors of the vibration accelerations along the y-axis, the x-axis (transverse direction), and the z-axis (vertical direction) were higher in the central and northwestern parts of the pasture at 3.0-4.5 m/s2 compared with other regions. Conclusions: The GIS map developed using information on posture angles and vibration accelerations by position in the pasture is considered sufficiently utilizable as data for selection of construction locations for pasture infrastructure improvement.
The Location Based Service is growing rapidly nowadays due to the universalization of the use for smartphone, and therefore the location determination technology has been placed in a very important position. This study suggests an algorithm that can provide the estimate of users' location by using smartphone sensors. And in doing so we will propose a methodology for the creation and update of indoor map through the more accurate position estimation using smartphone sensors such as acceleration sensor, gyroscope sensor, geomagnetic sensor and rotation sensor.

This study presents an overhang-type rail traction system using dual brushless AC (BLAC) motors with hall sensors. For an accurate position and moving length control of the designed rail traction system, instantaneous position controller using speed reference model and modified disturbance observer for BLAC motor with hall sensor are proposed. The presented speed reference model is designed to satisfy the required performance of 200 mm/s with proper acceleration and deceleration slopes to reduce mechanical vibration. Through the instantaneous speed reference model, instantaneous position and speed errors can be compensated together. Furthermore, the modified disturbance observer for BLAC motors with low-resolution hall sensors can improve the torque and speed control performance. The proposed disturbance observer is based on an actual motor speed. However, the feedback speed information of the hall sensor is not enough for use in the low-speed region. The practical adopted disturbance observer uses an activation speed band to the actual torque controller of the designed rail traction system. The proposed position control scheme is verified by the MATLAB-Simulink model and a practical manufactured traction system. In the computer simulation and experiments, the proposed position control scheme shows advanced control performance.

When manipulator moves the objects, the object position error can be occurred because of acceleration or negative acceleration according to the direction. So we make manipulator working path for establishing optimal gripper force control preventing occurrence of object position error. And we attached the tactile sensor on the gripper of manipulator which gives us very specific information between manipulator and object. Reasoning of continuous tactile image data, manipulator can sense rotation and slippage and change the grasping force that corrects calculated grasping force and compensation can be possible of the object position error. We use the FSR(Force Sensing Resistor)sensor which consists of 22 by 22 taxels and continuous taxel number is used for filtering and using the moment method for sensing algorithm in our experiment.

In these days, the piezoresistive material has been applied to various sensors in order to measure the change of physical quantities. But the relationship between the sensitivity of a sensor and the position and size of piezoresistor has rarely been studied. Therefore, this paper was focused on the distribution of the resistance change ratio on the diaphragm and bridge surface where piezoresistor would be formed, and proposed the proper size and position of piezoresistor with which the sensitivity of sensor was increased. As the width of mass and boss was increased, the distance between piezoresistors was closed and the maximum value of resistance change ratio was decreased by the increase of the structure stiffness. And according to the increment of seismic mass size, the value of resistance change ratio is decreased by increase of the structure stiffness. Y directional piezoresistor is formed in the position of $100\mu{m}\;apart\;from\;cantilever\;edge\;and\;length\;of\;that\;is\;800\mu{m}$.
