Dynamic equivalent model of a SMART control rod drive mechanism for a seismic analysis

  • The SMART (System-integrated Modular Advanced ReacTor) is an integral-type small modular reactor developed by KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). This paper discusses the development of a dynamic equivalent model of the SMART control rod drive mechanism that can be efficiently utilized for complicated analysis during the design of the SMART. A semi-empirical approach is used to develop the equivalent model; that is, the equivalent model is defined analytically and verified empirically. Two types of tests, dynamic characteristics tests and seismic loading tests, are conducted for the development and verification of the dynamic equivalent model, respectively. Acceleration response spectra from the seismic analysis based on the developed equivalent model show good agreement with those from the seismic loading tests.

Parameter identification for nonlinear behavior of RC bridge piers using sequential modified extended Kalman filter

  • Identification of the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of a reinforced concrete (RC) bridge pier subjected to earthquake loads is carried out based on acceleration measurements of the earthquake motion and bridge responses. The modified Takeda model is used to describe the hysteretic behavior of the RC pier with a small number of parameters, in which the nonlinear behavior is described in logical forms rather than analytical expressions. Hence, the modified extended Kalman filter is employed to construct the state transition matrix using a finite difference scheme. The sequential modified extended Kalman filter algorithm is proposed to identify the unknown parameters and the state vector separately in two steps, so that the size of the problem for each identification procedure may be reduced and possible numerical problems may be avoided. Mode superposition with a modal sorting technique is also proposed to reduce the size of the identification problem for the nonlinear dynamic system with multi-degrees of freedom. Example analysis is carried out for a continuous bridge with a RC pier subjected to earthquake loads in the longitudinal and transverse directions.

원통형 실린더의 입수 충격 해석 (The Impact Analysis for Water-Entry of Cylindrical Body)

  • 물체가 수중에 입수할 때, 원래의 운동에너지는 물체와 그 주위의 물에 부가질량 형태로 분배된다. 이러한 에너지 혹은 운동량의 전달에 기인하여 물체는 유체동력학적 충격력과 가속도를 받는다. 이러한 충격거동은 수중운동체의 공중 발사에 중요한 고려 요인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 구명정 모델을 바탕으로 원통형 물체의 입수에 대한 충격거동을 해석하는 근사기법을 제안하였다. 충격력은 von Karman의 운동량 이론으로 계산하고, 운동, 특히 가속도는 유체동력학적 힘의 평형에 의하여 유도된 운동방정식의 수치 적분으로 계산하였다. 제안된 방법은 입수충격을 받는 물체의 초기설계나 운동 해석을 위한 단순하면서도 효과적인 방안이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Crane operation for transporting heavy loads causes swinging motion at the loads due to crane's acceleration and deceleration. This sway causes the suspension ropes to leave their grooves and leads to possibility of serious damages. So, this swing of the objects is a serious problem and the goal of crane system is transporting to a goal position as soon as possible without the oscillation of the rope. Generally crane is operated by expert's knowledge. Therefore, a satisfactory control method to supress object sway during transport is indispensible. The dynamic behavior of the crane shows nonlinear characteristics. when the length of the rope is changed the crane is time varying system and the design of anti-sway controller is very difficult. In this paper, the nonlinear dynamic model for the industrial overhead crane whose girder, trolley and hoister move simultaneously is derived. and the Fuzzy logic controller based on the expert experiments during acceleration, constant velocity, deceleration and stop position period is proposed to supress the swing motion and control the position of the crane. The performance of the fuzzy controller for the nonlinear crane model is simulated on the personal computer.

  • 본 논문은 축소 3층 건물의 최상층에 능동질량형 제어장치를 설치한 시스템에 관한 식별실향분석이다. OKID기법을 적용하여 진동대 및 제어장치의 가진 입력과 건물 및 제어장치의 응답인 출력관계를 분석하여 수학모델을 구하였다. 제어장치가 설치된 건물에 관한 입력은 진동대에 의한 지반가속도와 제어장치 모터의 구동신호이다 그리고 출력은 건물 각층과 제어장치의 가속도이다. 입출력 관계로 구하여진 수학모델을 바탕으로 제어장치의 최적설계를 수행하였으며 수치해석과 실험결과를 비교한바 서로 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다.

집속효율 향상을 위한 외장유동노즐 가속 구간의 최적설계 연구 (Optimal Design of Sheath Flow Nozzle Acceleration Section for Improving the Focusing Efficiency)

  • There is a need to use sheath flow nozzle to detect bioaerosol such as virus and bacteria due to their characteristics. In order to enhance the detection performance depending on nozzle parameters, numerical analysis was carried out using a commercial code, ANSYS CFX. Eulerian-lagrangian approach method is used in this simulation. Multiphase flow characteristics between primary fluid and solid were considered. The detection performance was evaluated based on the results of flow field in nozzle chamber such as focusing efficiency and swirl strength. In addition, Latin hypercube sampling(LHS) of design of experiment(DOE) was used for generating a near-random sampling. Then, the acceleration section is optimized using response surface method(RSM). Results show that the optimized model achieved a 6.13 % in a focusing efficiency and 11.47 % increase in swirl strength over the reference model.

Seismic control of concrete buildings with nonlinear behavior, considering soil structure interaction using AMD and TMD

  • The seismic analysis of structures without applying the effects of soil can undermine functional objectives of structure so that it can affect all the desired purposes at the design and control stages of the structure. In this research, employing OpenSees and MATLAB software simultaneously and developing a definite three-dimensional finite element model of a high-rise concrete structure, designed using performance-based plastic design approach, the performance of Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) and Active Mass Damper (AMD) is both examined and compared. Moreover some less noted aspects such as nonlinear interaction of soil and structure, uplift, nonlinear behavior of structure and structural torsion have received more attention. For this purpose, the analysis of time history on the structural model has been performed under 22 far-field accelerogram records. Examining a full range of all structural seismic responses, including lateral displacement, acceleration, inter-story drift, lost plastic energy, number of plastic hinges, story shear force and uplift. The results indicate that TMD performs better than AMD except for lateral displacement and inter-story drift to control other structural responses. Because on the one hand, nonlinear structural parameters and soil-structure interaction have been added and on the other hand, the restriction on the control force applied that leads up to saturation phenomenon in the active control system affect the performance of AMD. Moreover, the control force applied by structural control system has created undesirable acceleration and shear force in the structure.

  • Sensorless electric superchargers have recently been actively developed to provide a large amount of oxygen to engines in order assist the combustion process for miniaturizing the engines and improving fuel efficiency. The model-based sensorless method for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors has a disadvantage in that the system may become unstable due to parameter variations in low-speed operation and the rapid-acceleration section. An electric supercharger requires fast response to improve the engine response delay, such as the turbocharger turbo-rack. Therefore, the responsiveness must be improved to use the model-based sensorless system. The position compensation algorithm designed in this study is controlled by converting the position error into the beta, which is the angle formed by the d-axis and the stator current during sudden speed change. In this study, we improved the response of the model-based sensorless system through the algorithm and verified the algorithm validity by applying the algorithm to an actual dual-motor supercharger.

  • In this paper a test of fit for exponentiality and we propose the estimator of Kullback-Leibler Information functions using the data from accelerated life tests. This acceleration model is assumed to be a tampered random variable model. The procedure is applicable when the exponential parameter based on the data from accelerated life tests is or is not specified under null hypothesis. Using Simulations, the power of the proposed test based on use condition of accelerated life test under alternatives is compared with that of other standard tests in the small sample.

마이크로프로세서 기반의 얼굴 마스크 감지 (Face-Mask Detection with Micro processor)

  • This paper proposes an embedded system that detects mask and face recognition based on a microprocessor instead of Nvidia Jetson Board what is popular development kit. We use a class of efficient models called Mobilenets for mobile and embedded vision applications. MobileNets are based on a streamlined architechture that uses depthwise separable convolutions to build light weight deep neural networks. The device used a Maix development board with CNN hardware acceleration function, and the training model used MobileNet_V2 based SSD(Single Shot Multibox Detector) optimized for mobile devices. To make training model, 7553 face data from Kaggle are used. As a result of test dataset, the AUC (Area Under The Curve) value is as high as 0.98.
