The chief factors for the penetration and diffusion of chloride ions in concrete are water-cement ratio(W/C), aging, curing conditions, chloride ions concentration of given environment., wet and dry conditions and etc. In this study, of these factors effect of curing conditions such as standard and outdoor curing on the characteristics of chloride ions diffusion in concrete were researched when environmental factors for the penetration and diffusion of chloride ions were constant. For this purpose, the voltages passing through the diffusion cell were measured by using accelerated test method using potential difference, and then diffusion coefficients of chloride ions by using Andrade's method were estimated for 44%, 49.5% and 60% of w/c, respectively. As a result., according to curing conditions correlation among diffusion coefficients of chloride ions, W/C and aging were concluded through multiple regression model.

Chloride ions in RC (Reinforced Concrete) structures can cause very severe corrosion in reinforcement steel. It is generally informed that chloride penetration can be considerably accelerated by enlarged chloride diffusion due to cracks. These cracks play a role in main routes through which chloride ions penetrate into the concrete, and also lead to steel corrosion in RC structures exposed to chloride attack, such as port and ocean structures. In this paper, field survey including evaluation of crack and chloride concentration distribution in concrete is performed to investigate an effect of crack on chloride diffusion. The service life of cracked concrete exposed to the marine environmental condition is estimated considering the crack effect on chloride diffusion. For this purpose, diffusion coefficients in cracked concrete are obtained based on the field survey. Using the relationship between diffusion coefficients in the cracked concrete and the crack widths, service life of the cracked concrete is predicted in a probabilistic framework. A bimodal distribution with two peaks, consisting of a weighted sum of two normal distributions is introduced to describe chloride diffusion of the concrete wharf with crack.

A chloride is an important deteriorating factor which governs the durability of the reinforced-concrete structures under marine environments. Also, the main penetration mechanism of chloride ion into concrete is a diffusion phenomenon and numerous methods have been proposed to determine the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion quickly. In this study, electrically accelerated experiments were carried out in order to evaluate diffusion coefficient of the chloride ion into concrete. The methods were diffusion cell test method in which the voltage of 15V(DC) was applied. The type of cement is blended cement in which the admixtures of blast-furnace slag and fly ash were used. In conclusion, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion is much affected according to mineral admixtures and the diffusion coefficient of ternary blended cement showed very low values. it is presumably said that this result is due to highly densified pore structures by the aid of slag substitution and pozzolanic activity of fly ash.

To estimate durability of reinforced concrete structures located in or nearby seawater, many different kinds of accelerated tests for evaluation of chloride ion permeation in concrete were proposed. At present the only standardized test is the ASTM C 1202(RCP test). This test method is used to estimate the concrete's resistivity of the chloride penetration in concrete by using the total charges passed and sometimes used to calculate the chloride diffusion coefficients. However, this test may lead to an erroneous chloride diffusion coefficient. So this test method was compared with the modified Dhir's test and the traditional concentration diffusion test. Experimental results showed that the diffusion coefficients determined the RCP test and the PD Index gave wrongous values, but the diffusion coefficient acquired by considering a migration term was nearly the same to the CD Test.

This study were predicted the corrosion threshold reached at steel reinforcement in latex modified concrete(LMC) which were applied the agricultural hydraulic concrete structures. Accelerated testing was accomplished to the evaluate the diffusion coefficient of LMC mix, and the time dependent constants of diffusion. Also, the average chloride diffusion coefficient was estimated. From the average chloride ion diffusion coefficient, the time which critical chloride contents at depth of reinforcement steel was estimated. Test results indicated that the corrosion threshold reached at reinforcement in LMC were effected on the mix proportion factor including cement contents, latex content, and water-cement ratio. Especially, the average chloride diffusion coefficient, the corrosion threshold reached at reinforcement in LMC were affected by the all mix proportion factor.

Part I of this study was devoted to the electrical accelerated chloride diffusion in mortars. In this second part, natural chloride diffusion has been investigated for four types of mortars under exposure to a 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution for a period of up to 35 days. Two different types of sand were used for the production of test samples: siliceous sand (used as a reference) and limestone sand (used in this study). The effect of water to cement ratio and exposure time on the diffusion coefficients of mortars was also investigated. In this study, the total and free chloride content and penetration depth of mortar were measured after immersion, and Fick's second law of diffusion was fitted to the experimental data to determine the diffusion coefficient. Their results show that the use of crushed limestone sand in mortar had a positive effect on the chloride resistance. The apparent diffusion coefficient in all specimens was smaller than that in siliceous sand mortar. However, the chloride penetration of these mortars was increased as exposure time progressed.
Since strength and diffusion coefficient of concrete, representative concrete properties that in change with age, the time effect must be considered in the analysis of chloride penetration. In this study, an evaluation of correlation between accelerated diffusion coefficient, apparent diffusion coefficient, and compressive strength in high performance concrete with various mineral admixtures such as ground granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash, and silica fume was performed. For this work, thirty mix proportions were prepared. Accelerated diffusion coefficients at the age of 28, 91, 180, and 270 days were evaluated. For apparent diffusion coefficient, submerging test for 6 months was performed. For evaluation of compressive strength with ages, the compressive strength test was carried out at an age of 7, 28, 91, 180 days. The results of accelerated diffusion coefficient, apparent diffusion coefficient, and strength were compared, and the correlation was analyzed considering time dependency. From this study, linear relationship between accelerated diffusion and apparent diffusion coefficient were obtained regardless of concrete age. The linear relations were also observed in strength-accelerated diffusion coefficient and strength-apparent diffusion coefficient regardless of concrete age.
In a hardened concrete, diffusion of oxygen, carbon dioxide, aggressive ions, and moisture from the environment to the concrete takes place through the pore network. It is well known that making dense cement matrix enhances the durability of concrete as well as all the characteristics including strength of concrete. In this paper,9 mix concretes with water to cementitious material ratio (40,45, and $50\%$) and replacement ratio of GGBFS (40 and $60\%$ of cement by weight) were studied on the micro-pore structure by mercury intrusion porosimetry and the accelerated chloride diffusion test by potential difference. From the results the average pore diameter and accelerated chloride diffusivity of concrete were ordered NPC > G4C > G6C. It is concluded that there is a good correlation between the average pore diameter and the chloride diffusivity, and the mineral admixtures has a filling effect, which increases the tortuosity of pore and makes large pores finer, on the pore structure of cement matrix due to the latent hydraulic reaction with hydrates of cement.

In this study, as the preliminary research on the development of heating concrete members, compressive strength and accelerated chloride diffusion behavior in the mortar specimens containing C12A7 based binder and anhydrite was evaluated. Also, the effect of the mixing ratio of the citric acid based retarder was quantitatively evaluated by considering 4 levels of mixing cases. The compressive strength tests of the mortar specimen were performed referred to KS L ISO 679, and the accelerated chloride diffusion tests were performed according to NT BUILD 492 and ASTM C 1202. In the mortar with 0.3 % of retarder, the highest compressive strength was evaluated, which showed the strength development ratio of 127.6 % compared to the control case. It was considered that engineering performance was improved by effectively securing setting and curing time with 0.3 % of citric acid based retarder. As the result of the evaluation of the passed charge and the accelerated chloride diffusion coefficient, the evaluation results had similar behavior with the results of compressive strength. According to the previous study, the strength behavior and the chloride diffusion behavior had a linear relationship. The mixture showing the highest strength performance had the highest durability performance for chloride ingress, and the heating concrete development from this study will be performed in the future.

When RC(Reinforced Concrete) structures are exposed to harsh environment, deterioration phenomenon occurs, and the corrosion in rebar due to chloride intrusion is known as representative deterioration, so called chloride attack. In this paper, chloride resistance performance of 2 years aged concrete is evaluated considering 3 levels of water to binder ratio(0.37, 0.42, and 0.47) and 2 levels of substitution ratio of fly ash(0% and 30%). Accelerated chloride diffusion coefficient tests referred to Tang's method, total passed charge tests referred to ASTM C 1202, and compressive strength tests referred to KS F 2405 are performed. With adaptation of the previous test results and the results from this study, time-dependent chloride diffusion characteristics are analyzed for each concrete. The FA(Fly Ash) concrete has higher chloride resistance performance than OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement) concrete. According to the evaluation standard of ASTM C 1202, the FA concrete has "Moderate" grade after 49 days while OPC concrete does "Moderate" grade after 365 days. As the results of time-parameter for chloride diffusion, OPC concrete and FA concrete show the decreasing behavior of time-parameters with increasing water to binder ratio. Also, FA concrete has 1.57~2.74 times of time-parameter than OPC concrete. That's cause is thought that the time-parameter indicates the gradient of decreasing of diffusion coefficient. FA concrete has higher time-parameters than OPC concrete by pozzolanic reaction of FA.
