Feeding habits of A. luridus were studied by analyzing the stomach contents of monthly collected fish from the intertidal zone of Dodun-ri, Sochon from July 1996 to June 1997. Fullness of stomach increased twice a day, first in the morning and second in the afternoon. A. luridus (1.2-5.9 em in standard length) was a carnivore consuming mainly decapods (natantia larvae, Acetes japonicus, Penaeus japonicus and reptantia larvae), amphipods (caprellids, gammarids and hyperiids) and copepods (Acartia sp., Calanus sinicus, Corycaeus affinis, and Microsetella sp.). Its diets also included minor quantities of isopods, cirriped larvae, polychaete larvae and stomatopods. According to fish size, some changes in feeding habits were apparent, i.e. smaller fish preferred to prey in the following order : copepods < decapods < amphipods. However, as the size increased, decapods and amphipods were selected.
The seasonal distribution pattern of zooplankton were studied on the basis of the zooplankton samples collected from 9 stations in Jinhae Bay in May, August, November and February, 2001 to 2002. A total of 31 species in 37 taxa was occurred in Jinhae Bay. Copepods were pyedominant through fall to spring and cladecerans in summer. There aye high spatio-temporal fluctuations in the zooplankton abundance in a range of 27 to 28,221 indiv. $m^{-3}$. Of these, an neritic species, Acartia omorri and Oentropages abdominals were predominent in february; Palaealanus parvus s. 1 in November; Penilia avirostris in August. Species diversity was low in the northwestern regims where anoxia layer is occurred in summer, while in the other seasons there was no a great difference between stations. It indicates that the distribution pattern of zooplankton may be seasonally strongly affected by a mechanism of hypoxia formation in Jinhae Bay.
Seasonal distribution of zooplankton community in Inchon Dock, an artificially closed marine embayment has been studied. Samples were collected monthly during the period from December 1989 to December 1991 at four stations in the dock and compared with that at a single station in neighbouring waters of the Yellow Sea. Copepods dominated both in and outside of the dock all the year round, except in late autumn and early winter when protozoans outnumbered. dominant species were Oithona davisae, Acartia bifilosa, Paracalanus crassirostris, Noctiluca scintillas and Tintinnopsis tubulosa. A sharp decline in the abundance was observed in summer 1990 in the dock apparently due to oxygen deficiency (anoxic condition). Although no distinct deference in the abundance of zooplankton was observed between populations in and outside of the dock except in summer 1990, waters out of the dock showed to have a prosperity in species number throughout the year. Moreover, four species of copepods, Centropages abdominalis, Pseudodiaptomus marinus, Tortanus forcipatus and T. spinicaudatus occurred solely at the outside of the dock.

The feeding habits of jack mackerel, Trachurus japonicus, collected from the Nakdong River estuary from February 1987 to January 1988 were studied. Jack mackerel(4~15cm SL) was a planktivore which fed mainly on copepods, amphipods and mysids. Its diets included small quantities of decapods, euphausiids, polychaetes, chaetognaths and fish larvae. Paracalanus parvus. Acartia clausi and Calanus sinicus were the three most abundant copepod species found in the stomach contents of jack mackerel. Jack mackerel showed ontogenetic changes in feeding habits. Small individuals of the fish(4~7cm SL) preyed heavily on copepods. However, the portion of copepods in stomach contents decreased with increasing fish size, and this decrease was compensated by an increased consumption of amphipods and mysids.
In order to examine the transition of zooplankton community by the Saemangeum sea dyke, the temporal and spatial distribution of zooplankton community with relation to environmental variables was investigated using data collected in 2004 and 2005. Sixty-one zooplankton taxa were identified. Average abundance (except Noctiluca scintiliam) ranged from 236 to 1810 indiv. $m^{-3}$, and was the highest in May 2005 and the lowest in february 2005. Dominant species were Acartia hongi and Paracalanus indicus, and cirripedia nauplii and zoea were dominant groups. After the closure of the 4th sea dyke, brackish species such as Tortanus derjugini and Pseudodiaptomus inopinus are widely distributed while the abundance of N. scintillans decreased in the northern area inside the dyke. In canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) for examining the relationships among zooplankton, stations and environmental variables, the northern area inside the dyke was distinguished from the other areas and was represented by Acartia spp, and brackish copepods.; Also, this area was characterized by high chlorophyll a concentration and COD, and low diversity.
The seasonal variations in the zooplankton community of the southern coastal waters of Korea were investigated seasonally in May, August, November 2005, and February 2006. A total of 74 taxa were sampled, with an average abundance ranging from 2,426~23,793 indiv./$m^3$, among which Noctiluca scintillans predominated. Noctiluca scintillans, Acartia omorii, Acartia erythraea, Paracalanus parvus s. l., Centropages abdominalis, Tortanus forcipatus, and Pseudevadne tergestina were the most abundant species detected. Zooplankton diversity was high around the inner regions during the summer, but it was relatively low in the stations located in the outer regions in the autumn. Non-metric multidimensional scaling (nMDS) revealed significant differences in the structures of the zooplankton community among the three regions. Our results showed that the seasonal variations in zooplankton communities in the southern coastal waters of Korea were attributable to seasonal changes in temperature, salinity, chlorophyll a concentrations, and N. scintillans blooms; additionally, this particularly study area might have been specifically influenced by the appearance of the Tsushima Warm Current.
In order to study the seasonal characteristics of species composition and abundance, zooplankton samples were collected from April 1987 to June 1988 with bimonthly intervals in the Mid-Eastern part of the Yellow sea. Among the 24 species of 18 genera occurred in this study area, 17 species are copepods. Noctiluca scintillant has greatly influenced on the distribution of the zooplankton in the coastal area and some copepods may be excluded by its great occurrence. the seasonal variation of abundance of copepods accounting for 30-63.4% of total zooplankton were more varied among stations in the coastal area than in the offshore. It suggests that environmental factors are more variable in the coastal area than in the offshore. In the Copepod community, Acartia omorii, Paracalanus parvus and Corycaeus affinis were predominant in April and June, from August to December and in December, respectively. Sagita enflata as a Kuroshio indicator species, occurred in the study area from August to December. The great occurrence of warm water species, Doliolum sp. in October and the occurrence of Sagitta enflata from August to December suggested that there is a influx of the tributaries of Kuroshio current into the study area. It appeared that the seasonal characteristics of species composition and abundance of zooplankton were affected by the seasonal variation of water mass.
In order to the species composition and abundance distribution of zooplankton, quantitative samples collected in the Yellow Sea in April 1981 were analyzed. Ranges of temperatures and salinities of the study area were 4.55-9.80$^{\circ}C$ and 32.02-32.88 , respectively. Total 33 taxa were identified from all samples collected. Species composition along the stations showed no remarkable variations. Copepods were the most imporatnt components of zooplankton community in the study area. Dominant species of copepods were Oithona similis, Acartia clause and Centropages mcmurrichi. Appendicularia, Chaetognatha, Amphipod, and Euphausiid were distributed with minor abundance. Average biomass(wet weight) of zooplankton was 107mg/㎥, and the biomasses of zooplankton at offshore stations were greater than those of inshore stations in the study area. Average individual number of zooplankton was 1,915 indiv./㎥, and the variations along stations showed the same trend as in biomass. From the result of clustering with correlation coefficients calculated with the indivecual numbers per cubic meter for 20 zooplankton constituents at each station it was suggested that temperature had far reaching sffect on the distribution of zooplankton in the study area.
We observed zooplankton community to understand variations in the species composition and abundance in Gangjin Bay. Samples were collected bimonthly from February to November 1999 at 10 stations in Gangjin Bay of the southern part of Korea. Zooplankton communities consisted to nine taxa and mean biomass was 2,028 indiv. $m^{-3}$. The maximum abundance was observed to be 5,496 indiv. $m^{-3}$ in February and the minimum in November, 78 indiv. $m^{-3}$. Copepods dominated and most diverse in Gangjin Bay. Seasonal fluctuation in the copepod abundance varied between 42 and 4,159 indiv. $m^{-3}$. Dominant species are Acartia omorii, Centrophages abdominalis, Paracalanus indicus and A. steueri. Cladoceran also dominated and the maximum abundance was 765 indiv. $m^{-3}$ in April. A. omorii and Oithona davisae dominated in February, A. omorii, Eurytemora pacifica, Evadne nordmanni and Podon polyphemoides in April, Tortanus dextrilobatus and decapod nauplius in June, Paracalanus indicus, E. tergestina and Penitia avirostris in August and A. erythraea and P. indicus in October. In November, P. indicus and Sagitta crassa dominated.

The distributions of copepods and chaetognaths in waters off the southern coast of Korea were investigated to evaluate their reliability as indicator species of different water masses. The samples for this study were collected vertically from about 5m above the bottom at 28 stations along 8 transects in three different months, February, April, and August, 1988. The sampling gear used was 0.45-meter NORPAC plankton net fitted with 0.33mm mesh. Acartia clausi, Centropages abdominalis, and Sagitta crassa were found to be reliable indicator species of neritic cold waters; Pleuromamma gracilis, Undinula darwini, Calocalanus plumulosus, Calanopia elliptica, and Sagitta enflata were of oceanic warm waters; Temora discaudata and Centropages furcatus were of neritic warm waters. According to the cluster analyses of the species found, the distinctive area in February was divisible into two regions or water masses, the coastal and off-shore regions; in April, however, it was divisible into four regions. In August, it was divisible into three areas, further indicating the strength of the Kuroshio tributaries pushing toward the coast.
