The purpose of this study is to improve the academy sports field for the establishment of advanced sports culture. This study used qualitative research. The research participants were baseball players for 11 years and have been professional baseball players. Another study participant has been a soccer player for eight years. And he has been a football coach for 13 years. The results of this study are as follows. First, the act of entertaining was the form in which parents served sports leaders meals and alcohol. Parents' student athletes had increased chances of playing in the game and were able to receive faithful guidance. Second, the student athletes whose parents did not act of entertaining to the sports leader were discriminated against. The student athletes were harassed by their leaders, their positions changed, and their chances of playing were reduced. Third, parents' student athletes who did not act of entertaining to their leaders either stopped exercising or moved to another school because of discrimination. Eventually, the entertainment culture of academy sports acted as a mechanism to induce sports de-socialization of student athletes, and made students experience a negative aspect of sports culture. As a result, the entertainment culture of academy sports caused discriminatory treatment due to economic inequality. Therefore, the negative entertainment culture of academy sports should be eradicated for the establishment of advanced sports culture.

Statement of problem: In spite of increasing sports injury, there was no collected data on the rate and type of dental injuries for athletes in Korea. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the occurrence of maxillofacial injuries and attitude of college sports player in Korea towards mouthguard. Material and methods: Total 617 athletes answered a series of questionnaire concerning their sports injury and using mouthguard. Results: 1. 81%(502) of athletes had, playing or training a sports, suffered an injury. Female athletes suffered an injury more than male athletes(p<0.05). Contact sports athletes were injured more than non contact sports athletes(p<0.05). 2. 335 athletes(54.8%) had suffered maxillofacial injuries while playing or training. 81.8% of athletes suffered an maxillofacial injury in contact sports(p<0.05). 3. Laceration of oral area, wrick in neck, fracture or avulsion on upper incisors, concussion, TMJ injury, fracture or avulsion on lower incisors, fracture or avulsion on lower molars were frequently injured area. 4. 67.2% of athletes answered that mouthguard could prevent sports injury especially high in contact sports(p<0.05). But only 39.1% of athletes required mouthguard while playing. 44.6% of athletes showed their intention of using mouthguard. Conclusion: This study shows that the incidence of maxillofacial injuries is very high while the actual use of mouthguard is very low. To prevent sports injury, a dentist must inform sports players and coaches of accurate information about mouthguard so that they can use it well. A dentist also has to provide them with better mouthguard on the basis of user's complaint.

This epidemiological study aims to determine the incidence, areas, severity, and time of occurrence of sports injuries in elite female rowing athletes who were training at the Jincheon National Training Center for a 1-year period from January 1st to December 31st, 2017. According to the daily injury reports form of the IOC, sport events, weight division, injured area, and cause of injury were recorded, and the following results were found. Upon comparing the incidence of sports injuries, there was a significant difference in weight of double scull athletes. In terms of sports, there was a significant difference between pair and athletes who played double skull. Injuries occurred most commonly in the lower extremity (40.5%), followed by the trunk (35.1%), upper extremity (24.3%). for all athletes in rowing. The knee and lumbar spine/lower back were the most common injury sites. More than 60% of all injuries were Level III, and injuries occurred most frequently during training, followed by weight training and then competition.

The extensive use of polymeric matrix composites in the athletic sector may be attributed to its high strength-to-weight ratio, production economy, and a longer lifespan than conventional materials. This study explored the impact of carbon nanotubes on the properties of different composite field sports equipment components. The test specimens were fabricated using the compression molding technique. The insertion of carbon nanotubes increases mechanical properties related to the process parameters to account for an improvement in the stick sections' overall performance. The dynamic response of functionally graded reinforced nanocomposite wire structure is examined in this paper on the bases of high-order hyperbolic beam theory lined to the size-dependent nonclassical nonlocal theory under the external mechanical load due to the physical activities. Finally, the impact of different parameters on the stability of nanocomposite structures is discussed in detail.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the relation between differently measured sports activities (metabolic equivalent [MET] and peak strain score) and distal radius bone mineral density in college-aged women. Methods: lifetime sports activity was scored in two different ways: 1) a sports activity score by multiplying the intensity (METs) and duration and 2) a sports activity score by adding up physical strain scores based on the ground reaction force of each sports activities. Bone mineral density was measured using dual energy x-ray densitometry (DTX-200) in the distal radius site. Results: In stepwise multiple regression analysis, body weight and sports activities during the college period were significant positive predictors for distal radius bone mineral density. The explained variance of sports activity measured with a peak strain score (8.8%) for distal radius bone mineral density was higher than one measured with the MET score (3.3%). Conclusion: It can be concluded that sports activity scores based on MET and peak strain scores during college are very important for determining the bone mineral density in the distal radius site in women under 30.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to -retrospectively describe the childhood sports activity level of Korean adult men and women and to determine whether a higher level of childhood sports activity was positively associated with adult bone mineral density. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 100 Korean men (n=40) and women (n=60) was completed. Participants completed a detailed lifetime sports activity questionnaire and had their bone mineral density of the femur and lumbar spine measured using dual energy x-ray densitometry (DEXA). All sports activities were classified into four categories of peak strain score on the basis of ground reaction forces (GRF). Results: During the age of high school, women and men who participated in a high intensity sports activity demonstrated higher bone density in the femur site after adjustment for the effects of body weight, fat body mass, lean body mass, the level of calcium intake, and breast feeding period than those who did not participate in sports activity at all. Conclusion: These results highlight the need to participate in high intensity sports activity during high school age as a means of increasing peak bone mass in the femur site.
Here, we studied the sports mouse guard as an oral device system, to minimize the sports related facial and dental injuries, jawbone fracture and brain injury, and by layering the hardened sheets for improving the activity performance and stable wearing. By pressuring and layering 2 soft- and 1 hard-layers of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) thermoplastic materials, for a category of martial art, record sports and leports, here we introduce a methodology for thickness control of layers to protect the teeth and oral structure. A personally customized mouse guard optimized for sports by layering a mixture of soft and hardened sheets is not easily detached during the sporting activity, easy to breathe through, comforts to wear, and also improves the sporting record. A designed EVA thermoplastic material for individual sports is used as the mouth guard, which is stably attached, easily removed, and convenient for breathing through the mouth.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the distribution of trigger points(TrPs) on athletes with various sporting background. To achieve the purpose, a study was carried out through a survey from 180 athletes involved in 6 selected sports at Yong-In University. Selected sports included Judo, Taekwondo, Kendo, Ssi-reum(Korean traditional wrestling), Boxing, and Golf. An interview type survey and physical examination were conducted with each thirty athletes from each of the selected sports groups. Technical statistic(SPSS 15.0) was used to analyze the distribution of TrPs on these athletes. The most common TrPs observed in muscles of Trapezius, Quadratus Lumborum, Quadriceps in Judo. In Taekwondo, it was on the trapezius and triceps surae. Kendo athletes had TrPs at sites of trapezius, brachioradialis and triceps surae. Ssirem athletes were found to have TrPs on trapezius, deltoid and quadrates lumborum. In boxers, TrPs appearing at trapezius and brachioradialis were observed. Finally, Golf players were seen to have TrPs at trapezius, quadrates lumborum and brachioradialis. Hence, the analysis shows that there are significant differences of the distribution of TrPs according to the different sport items of the athlete.
