Evaluating the Information Access Skills of Students of a College of Education in Ghana

  • Access to relevant information determines the quality of life of an individual in society and the academe. Academic institutions have established information literacy programmes to enhance students' access to information. With the elevation of colleges of education to tertiary status in Ghana, pre-service teachers are now required to conduct research to improve their reflective thinking in order to be certified. However, the information access skills of students in colleges of education in Ghana are uncertain. This study draws empirical evidence from students in the Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Wa, Ghana on their information access skills. Primary data were collected from 303 respondents from the college using a stratified sampling procedure. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that information is available to students through different sources such as the Internet, libraries, and contact with friends and authorities. However, students were limited in respect to access to relevant online resources for their academic activities due to inadequate information access skills. Potential solutions are discussed.

웹 2.0기반의 '팟캐스트' 정보통신기술을 이용한 미국의 도서관서비스에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Library Services by 'Podcast' Information Communication Technology Based on Web 2.0 in USA)

  • 이 연구는 웹 2.0기반의 웹서비스 가운데 하나인 팟캐스트에 대한 소개와 팟캐스트를 활용한 선행연구를 토대로 실제 도서관서비스를 실시하고 있는 미국의 대학도서관과 공공도서관들의 팟캐스트 프로그램들을 조사 분석함으로써 국내 팟캐스트 서비스 적용방향을 모색하는 것이다. 분석결과, 팟캐스트를 적용한 공공도서관 프로그램에는 도서관 및 도서관행사 안내, 도서관이용교육, 지역사회소식, 교양강의, 스토리텔링을 통한 독서교육, 신간안내, 도서관장서 소개, 정보통신교육 등이 주류를 이루고 있었고 대학도서관의 프로그램에는 도서관이용교육, 도서관행사안내, 신간안내, 주제전문사서소개, 특강, 세미나, 포럼, 강의 등에 관한 프로그램들이 주를 이루고 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 국내도서관에서 팟캐스트 서비스를 위한 대학도서관과 공공도서관의 적용방향을 제시하였다. 국내 대학도서관과 공공도서관에서 팟캐스트 서비스를 적용할 경우 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

패션정보기획의 체계화를 위한 국내 패션정보산업의 고찰 (The Study on Domestic Fashion Information Service Industry for Systematization of Fashion Trend Information Planning Process)

  • The field of textile and fashion is regard to be sensitive to trend, however, the professional fashion information planning company for trend forecasting has not settled down in Korea. This study was designed to propose systemizing for fashion trend information planning in domestic fashion information service market. The empirical research was conducted by analysing in-depth interview data and news-scrap contents about each fashion information planning company. The result are as follows; First, fashion information service showed a little difference according to the type of fashion information companies, but they provided not only general fashion trends but also external market environmental information, survey-based consumer information and various segmented market research reports including academic information. Second, the fashion information planning process is largely divided into 3 stages; trend analysis, trend forecasting, trend application. The trend application step is the stage which connects the fashion information service industry to the fashion business. Thirdly, as a result of the competitive power evaluation for fashion information planning, the domestic fashion information planning companies came to reveal the fact that the possibility of carrying out and information analysis power were weak, however, how to present trend information had a relatively competitive. Consequently, this study is expected to play a role in understanding the importance of fashion trend information, and further ahead it would be helpful to organize the curriculum of fashion information planning subject in order to educate the future fashion executives.

외식 통계 계정 필요도 분석 (The Requirement analysis of Food service statistical indicator on Food service Industry)

  • The purpose of the study to examine the requirement of food service statistical account. the questionnaire was composed of two part: the traits of food service statistical accounts by USA and Japan and demographic characteristics. 325 questionnaires were distributed by mail to the member of Korean Food service Management Society and Korea university and college Culinary Management Faculty Association and 92 questionnaires were returned. the data was completed using the SPSS for frequency, mean, t-test, and ANOVA test. As a result of the follows. the 23 traits showed a high priority placed. Seeing the category, Number of customer, unit volume, solid waste, and information technology and application were higher than employee information. Comparing company members to academic members, both of them thought that dimension of unit, sales result, and number of customer. However, company member group indicated that employee information was important.

원격대학 도서관 서비스품질 요인 및 이용자 인식 연구 (A Study on the Distance University Library Service Quality Factors and User Perception)

  • 이 연구에서는 한국방송통신대학교 도서관에서 제공하고 있는 서비스에 대한 이용자의 인식 수준과 기대 수준에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇이며, 이용자들의 특성에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 또한 도서관서비스 차원별로 이용자의 인식 수준이 도서관의 이용의사와 만족도에 실제 영항을 미치는가를 조사, 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 도서관서비스 품질 평가에 관한 국내 외 문헌을 고찰하는 이론적 접근방법과 설문 조사 및 분석의 실증적 접근방법을 병행하였다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 LibQUAL+모형을 기반으로 연구모형을 설계하였으며, 연구가설에 대한 검증을 실시하여 집단 간 차이를 확인하였다. 분석 결과 방송대 도서관의 서비스 차원별 이용자의 현재 인식수준은 도서관 전체 만족도와 지속적인 이용의사에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 전체 만족도는 도서관의 지속적인 이용의사에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 도서관 이용행태적 특성에 따른 이용자 만족수준 향상을 위하여 도서관의 시설 개선, 원격 학술정보 제공을 위한 스마트 디지털도서관 시스템의 구축, 인쇄자료 및 전자자료 등 학술정보원의 다양성과 최신성의 확보 등의 요인이 방송대 도서관의 서비스 개선을 위한 핵심 요소로 파악되었다.

Preliminary Study of Bioinformatics Patents and Their Classifications Registered in the KIPRIS Database

  • Whereas a vast amount of new information on bioinformatics is made available to the public through patents, only a small set of patents are cited in academic papers. A detailed analysis of registered bioinformatics patents, using the existing patent search system, can provide valuable information links between science and technology. However, it is extremely difficult to select keywords to capture bioinformatics patents, reflecting the convergence of several underlying technologies. No single word or even several words are sufficient to identify such patents. The analysis of patent subclasses can provide valuable information. In this paper, I did a preliminary study of the current status of bioinformatics patents and their International Patent Classification (IPC) groups registered in the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) database.

보건의료정보관리 전공 학생의 임상실습 수행능력과 실습 만족도 (Clinical Practice Ability and Satisfaction of Clinical Training of Health-Medical Information Management Major Students)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the clinical practice ability and satisfaction of clinical training of health-medical information management major students. Methods : The data were collected from 68 persons from students finished clinical training at medical record (information) team using self administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and correlation with SPSS 22.0 version. Results: Performance of data collection, data management, and data analysis were analyzed in three areas of the job area. In terms of academic characteristics and correlation, they were not related to the level of satisfaction with the practical experience. Conclusions : Research on a virtuous cycle clinical practice program that analyzes the factors by assessing the satisfaction level of clinical practice in each area of health care information management will be conducted continuously.

ASP(Application Service Provider) 서비스 사용자의 재구매 의사와 조직 이익에 미치는 영향요인 연구 (A study on the factors influencing the ASP service users' repurchase intent and organization benefits)

  • ASP service users' needs for flexible and customized services to deal with changes in business environments and user contexts seems to be appealing due to the progress of technology and IT paradigm such as ubiquitous computing and web 2.0. Through the lens of expectancy confirmation and flexibility, we explored factors that influence users' repurchase intent and organizational benefit in ASP services. With an empirical study, we examined information quality, service quality, flexibility, customization, user satisfaction, trust in ASP services can contribute to the repurchase intent and organizational benefit. In addition to, business type and company size are added to the research model as control variables for user satisfaction, trust, and repurchase intent. Our findings suggested that the service quality and flexibility significantly were cruicial determinant of user satisfaction in ASP services. Furthermore, user satisfaction significantly influenceS repurchase intent, and organization benefits were affected by repurchase intent. This study has important implications for academic researchers and practitioners who seek to understand factors that affect ASP service users' repurchase intent and organization benefits.

도서관서비스 품질요인이 유학생의 도서관 지속적 이용의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Library Service Quality on International Students' Continuous Use Intention)

  • 이 연구는 도서관서비스 품질이 유학생의 도서관 지속적 이용의도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고 도서관불안이 두 변인들 사이에서 매개역할을 수행하는지 알아보는데 목적을 둔다. 이를 위하여 S대학에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생 213명을 대상으로 도서관서비스 품질, 도서관 지속적 이용의도, 도서관불안을 측정하였고, 구조방정식 모형분석으로 변수 간의 관계를 밝혀 가설을 검증하였다. 연구결과, 도서관서비스 품질은 도서관 지속 이용의도에 영향을 미치며, 도서관불안은 두 변인의 매개역할을 하는 것으로 확인되었다. 연구결과를 토대로 유학생의 도서관 이용 개선에 관하여 논의하였다.

외식기업 SNS 사용 특성에 따른 지각된 사용 용이성, 서비스가치 및 온라인 구전의도의 차이 분석 (Analysis of Differences in the Perceived Ease of Use, Service Value and Online Mouth-to-mouth Intention according to the Catering Companies Use SNS Features)

  • The study is focused on analyzing the SNS using characteristics of the people surveyed, as for the SNS acceptance channel of the food service corporations, accounted voluntarily for 71%. The SNS food service information regarding information of menu, location of store, price, coupon, taste evaluation, event, promotion, reservation and store atmosphere was researched. The most preferred information sharing for SNS food service were researched and found Facebook, blog and others in increasing order. The most preferred media to obtain SNS food service information were smart phone, desktop computer and others. The result of verifying differences in the perceived ease of use were also evaluated according to the food service corporation of SNS using characteristics of the people and was found: the longer period of SNS use, longer was access time: more number of visiting times, higher perceived ease of use. As for the difference in the perceived service value: longer the period of SNS use, more preferred was the blog: the more number of visiting times, the higher perceived service value. As for the difference in the online mouth-to-mouth intention: longer the period of SNS use, longer was access time: the more number of visiting times, the higher online mouth-to-mouth intention. Therefore, these research results provide useful implications in the working-level aspects such as providing basic data and the academic approach of the study, when the food service corporations establish marketing strategies through SNS.
