Moisturization and Transdermal Penetration Characteristics of PEGimpregnated Aloe vera Gel from DIS Processing (DIS에 의한 Polyethylene Glycol 함침 알로에 베라 겔의 보습 및 경피흡수 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the in vitro and in vivo moisturizing properties and percutaneous absorption of PEG-impregnated Aloe vera gel. The PEG-i-Aloe gel was obtained from dewatering and impregnation by soaking (DIS) of Aloe vera leaf slice. The moisturizing property of the obtained sample was evaluated by moisture determination using gravimetric method in desiccator under different RH% and by water sorption-desorption test on human skin. The transdermal penetration characteristics of PEG-i-Aloe gel was investigated by Franz diffusion cell in vitro transdermal absorption method. PEG-i-Aloe gel had high moisture retention ability and could significantly lead the enhancing skin hydration status as well as reducing the skin water loss due to the film formation as a skin barrier. The skin penetration rate of PEGi- Aloe gel at steady state was 9.76 ${\mu}g/(h{\cdot}cm^2)$ and the quantity of the transdermal absorption was 144 ${\mu}g/cm^2$ in 9 hr. The penetration mechanism was well fitted with Higuchi model ($R^2$ = 0.974-0.994). The results show that PEG-i-Aloe gel has the significant moisturizing effect and strong penetration of the animal skin. It could be used as the moisturizing additive in cosmetic skin products.

Hydrogen Absorption by Mg-Ni-Fe2O3 and Mg-Ni-Ti during Mechanical Grinding under Hydrogen

  • Samples with compositions of 80 wt% Mg-14 wt% Ni-6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ and 80 wt% Mg-14 wt% Ni-6 wt% Ti were prepared by mechanical grinding under hydrogen (reactive mechanical grinding). Their hydrogen absorptions during reactive mechanical grinding were examined. TGA and BET analysis were employed to investigate the hydrogen storage properties of the prepared alloys. TGA analysis of the $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ showed an absorbed hydrogen quantity of 6.91 wt% while that of Mg-14Ni-6Ti was 2.59 wt%. BET analysis showed that the specific surface areas of $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ and Mg-14Ni-6Ti after reactive mechanical grinding were $264m^2/g$ and $64m^2/g$, respectively. The larger absorbed hydrogen quantity and the larger specific surface area of $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ after RMG than those of Mg-14Ni-6Ti after RMG showed that the effects of $Fe_2O_3$ addition are much stronger than those of Ti addition during reactive mechanical grinding.

An Experimental Study on Water Resistance of Penetrating Water Repellency of Emulsified Silicon Type Exposed In The Outdoor Environment (옥외폭로에 따른 실리콘계 유화형 흡수방지재의 내수성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • As a part of durability improvement of concrete-structure, penetrating water repellency of liquid type is applied to concrete surface. Besides, a related standard is made recently, but the standard has been prescribe for initial settlement state of penetrating water repellency of liquid type, to the exclusion of performance variation depending time and outdoor environment factor. For measurement of performance variation, we measured the weight of outdoor exposure specimen every regular intervals and check a measured value against a measured value of different condition specimen. Moreover, after the application of penetrating water repellent, measured a adhesive strength in tension between cement-polymer modified waterproof coatings and surface of specimen. The applied penetrating water repellent is a emulsified silicon type with a deep penetration depth. In view of the results so far achieved, the more a Quantity of application and active solid content does get, the deeper penetrating water repellency of emulsion type Penetrate get longer and supplied moisture increase in quantity, a penetrating water repellency of liquid type penetrates more deep, but a quantity of water absorption increase gradually. Perhaps this result is caused by a reduction of active solid content on concrete surface, because active ingredient is moved into the concrete by dissolution.

  • This experiment was carried out to elucidate the behavior of nutrition absorption and the acid tolerance, on varying soil pH levels, of Pinus thunbergii, Pinus densiflora, Pinus rigida, PInus koraiensis, Larix leptolepis and Abies holophylla which are 6 month old seedlings through examinations of the absorption behavior, the acid and alkali tolerance of N,P,K, Ca and Fe in the sand culture media with artificially controlled pH. 1. The increase rate of dry matter conditioned by the behavior of nutrition absorption in a strong acidic condition (pH3) was found in the following decreasing order of Pinus rigida, Pinus thunbergii. This order, therefore, can also be said to apply to the case of acid tolerance. 2. The increase rate of dry matter in a strong alkaline condition (pH9) was found in the following decreasing order of Pinus thunbergii, Pinus rigida, Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis, Abies hoplohylla, Larix leptolepis. This order, therefore can be said to apply to the case of alkali tolerance. 3. Considering the absorption behavior of K and Ca, it is possible to decide the tolerance of acid from the absorption behavior and it can be said that if the absorption quantity is K>Ca the acid tolerance is strong and vice versa. 4. Considering the ratio of K:Fe and Ca:Fe in this experiment, a strong acid tolerance shows a higher ratio of K/Fe and vice versa. And also a strong acid tolerance shows a lower ratio of Ca/Fe and vice versa. It is therefore possible to decide the acid tolerance from the absorption behavior of K, Ca and Fe. 5. Of the tree species subjected to this experiment, Pinus thunbergii was the strongest in both acid and alkali tolerance. 6. In spite of that in all species the dry weight in the root is smailer than that in the top, the quantity of Fe contained in the root was larger than that in the top.

  • The aim of this study is to scientifical conservation for the Sin An Ship. The test object is Pinus massoniana and Cunninghamia lanceolata of Sin An Ship's timber .Comtrast object is water soaked fresh wood of Pinus densiflora and Cryptomeria japonica The results were as follows.1. M. C is 280.9% in high degraded Planking board,237.5% in low degraded Planking board,158.6% in fresh wood of Pinus densiflora,222.6% in Bulkhead167.3% in fresh wood of Cryptomeria japonica2. Absorption rate of P.E.G is good at heating condition ($55∼60^{\circ}C$), especially in highdegraded wood.3. The dimensional change of wood during air drying is somewhat shrinked That's 7.22% in low degraded Planking board9.8% in high degraded Planking board and 4.11% in water soaked Pinus densiflora.4. The dimensional change of wood during P.E.G treatment is mostly swollen of wery small quantity.5. Salinity in desalinization tank showed below 50 p.p.m. It's indicate the end of desalinization treatment.6. Filtration with filter paper was possible up to 40% concentration only.   • In this study, a liquid carbonation method was applied for producing precipitate calcium carbonate by liquid-liquid reaction. Also a shuttle mechanism of wet chemical absorption using MEA was utilized. The high concentration $CO_2$(A) and exhaust gas(B) was used for collecting carbon dioxide in the 30% MEA aqueous solution, and $CO_2$ was fixed with rate of 0.35 mg of $CO_2$ per mg of sludge through the liquid carbonation process. It was found from SEM data that calcium carbonate was mainly made up with spherical vaerite with the mixing of a small quantity of calcite.

  • Doctors who treat pregnant women ore usually cautious in writing their prescription for the drugs. The problem of which psychotropic medications ore sale during pregnancy seems to remain unsolved for many years. Although the rate of absorption is reduced due to a reduced rate of gastric emptying, the extent of absorption of drug is generally unchanged during pregnancy. Plasma volume and total body water increase during pregnancy. There is suggestion that drug metabolizing activity may be increased in pregnancy. Since the pregnancy increase the glomerular filtration rate significantly, drugs mainly eliminated by renal excretion will be cleared more quickly. Factors contributing to the potential teratogenecity of a drug include the type of compound, dose and duration of use, developmental stage of fetus at the time of exposure, and the effect of the drug on fetal pharmacokinetics. All major classes of psychotropic agents should be assumed to diffuse readily across the placenta to the fetus and to be present in some quantity in the breast milk. To decide when and how to start the drug treatment depends on an assessment of the risks related both with and without drug treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Quality Characteristics of Freeze-Dried Soymilk Powder (동결건조한 두유 분말의 품질 특성)

  • In this study, soybean is used to produce soymilk according to various extracting methods and heating time. Specifically, the soy slurry is being filtered before being heated, or heated before being filtered. Following that the soymilk produced is freeze-dried to be powdered, and then, the quality characteristics of the powdered soymilk are mutually compared to determine the applicability of various food additives. The freeze-dried soymilk powder shows 2.03~6.35% of moisture content, and in terms of unit quantity, retained more proteins, which suggests that the ratio of protein extraction is higher than any other nutrients. Accordingly, the protein coefficient is significantly higher in soymilk powder being heated and processed than in raw soybeans. In particular, protein coefficient is the highest in the soymilk which is heated for 20 minutes before being filtered (SHBF20). The longer the heating time was, the trypsin inhibitor (TI) tended to be far less active. Such an inactivation seems to be more apparent in the "SHAF" soymilk powder than "SHBF" soymilk powder. Because protein had to be denaturated by heating for soymilk, the nitrogen solubility index (NSI) of soymilk powder is decreased considerably, while the protein digestibility, water absorption, emulsification and foaming activity all increase. Oil absorption tends to decrease slightly. As discussed above, the soymilk heated for 10 minutes after being filtered (SHAF10) and the soymilk heated for 20 minutes before being filtered (SHBF20) show optimum processing conditions for soymilk powder.

  • What satisfies the desire of human beings about taste most easily is sweet taste, and it has seemed that the pronoun of sweet taste is sugar. Sugar is used in confectionery and bread-making essentially, and it has influence on the structure and touch of baked confectionery. In addition, if we soften the and apply heat, coloring is made. Thus, it colors good. It doesn't have a sweet taste, but it has the effect to emit fragrance variously, balance and soften the product. The kinds of sugar are very diverse, and it is sugar to be referred to as white sugar is used most frequently. In this study, this researcher examined the classification of physicochemical property and melting point etc. of sugar in confectionery and bread-making through theoretical study, about the simple classification of sugar. In addition, this researcher approached about the role of sugar in confectionery and bread-making and about the influence to have when it is more or less than proper quantity, centering around function. As the result, this researcher extracted the importance of sugar in confectionery and bread-making. It means that the increase of 5% of sugar quantity decreases the absorption quantity of moisture by 1% in bread-making and that the excess of 8% of sugar slow the action of yeast in straight method. Besides, there are the properties such as absorptive property, permeability, storage nature, aging prevention of starch, oxidation restraint of oils and fats, the gelation action of pectin, the fermentation acceleration of yeast, and the emulsification-maintaining-nautre and antiseptics effect of fat-soluble material. And in confectionery, sugar makes fragrance and peel color, increases the storage nature with moisture maintenance and has the softening effect. So, it is considered that the attitude to study and make efforts continuously on the basis of the role of sugar will have to be unfolded in confectionery and bread-making.

Effects of sound absorbent gypsum board in the ceiling on low-frequency heavyweight floor impact sound (흡음 석고보드 천장재에 의한 저주파 중량 바닥충격음의 저감 효과)

  • This study investigated effects of absorbent gypsum board in the ceiling on low-frequency heavyweight floor impact sound through sound absorption coefficient and floor impact sound measurement. The sound absorption coefficients were measured with sound absorbent gypsum board, glass wool on gypsum board, and a double panel absorbent gypsum board (absorbent gypsum board + glass wool + absorbent gypsum board). Result showed that the absorbent gypsum board had sound absorption coefficient of 0.1 ~ 0.7 from 200 and 630 Hz octave band. The sound absorption coefficient was increased in all frequency range by adding glass wool. Additional absorbent gypsum board increased sound absorption coefficient up to 250 Hz octave band, but decreased over 250 Hz. Heavyweight floor impact sounds were measured in test building for three materials above, gypsum board, and bare slab. Result showed that glass wool on gypsum board and a double panel absorbent gypsum board reduced by 3 dB ~ 4 dB (single number quantity) heavyweight floor impact sound. Comparing with bare slab condition, floor impact sound reduction was mainly found from 125 Hz to 500 Hz octave band, and the maximum reduction was shown in the 250 Hz octave band.
