This paper is a study on the model of simultaneous heat and mass transfer process in the absorption of refrigerant vapor into a lithium bromide solution of water-cooled vertical plate absorber. The model can predict temperature and concentration profiles as well as the effect of Reynolds number on them. Also. the variations of the absorption heat and mass fluxes. and the heat and mass transfer coefficients have been investigated. The numerical result shows that the interface temperature and concentration decrease as film Reynolds number does. The absorption heat and mass fluxes, and the heat and mass transfer coefficients get their maximum values adjacent to the inlet solution. Analyses on a constant wall temperature condition have been also carried out to exam the reliability of the present numerical method by comparing to previous investigations.
Phosphate absorption from a Na2H32PO4 solution by Oryza sativa L. was studied in order to elucidate kinetic mechanisms of ion transport. The rates of phosphate absorption from different concentraitons indicated the presence of dual mechanisms in root tips, one in the low (1$\times$10-6 to 8$\times$10-5M) and the other in the high (1$\times$10-4 to 8$\times$10-3M). A phosphate compensation point of phosphate transport was revealed with a 1$\times$10-6M solution of Na2H32PO4. The kinetic model that ion transport involves an exchange reaction of absorption and desorptin is prosposed as follows: where C represents an ionic-specific organic carrier in the membrane; M, Mo and Mi are the mineral ions, M-outside and M-inside; MC is a carrier-ion complex; and the K's represent rate constants. In this model, the Mi velocity, v, is given by: {{{{v= {dMi} over {dt}= {(K1K3Mo-K2K4Mi) Ct} over {(K2+K3)+K1Mo+K4Mi} }} where Ct is equal to C+MC, and t is time.
The effect of lipophilicity on the mechanisms of drug absorption through biomembranes was investigated empolying HPLC system and the fluorescence technique. Human erythrocyte ghost membranes were used as a model biomembrane. A series of four parabens (methyl, ethyl, rpopyl, and butyl) and p-hydroxybenzoic acid were used as the model drugs for lipophilicities and their partition coefficients were measured in Sorensen's phosphate buffer solution (pH 5)/octanol system. Absorption amount of parabens through erythrocyte ghost membranes increased with an increase of lipophilicity resulted from the addition of methylene group to the n-alkyl chain of parabens. And the effect of parabens on the fluidity of ghost membrane also increased with an increase of their lipophilicities.

A simple and useful model of light distribution for the biologhical tissue to the Gaussian beam is proposed. This model assumes that the incident Gaussian beam broadens into two Gaussian beams, travelling in the opposite directions as the result of both isotropic scattering and absorption in the tissue. With this assumption, two-dimensional light intensity of each flux as well as the equations of both absorption and scattering have been derived, and the validity of modeling has been confirmed experimentally. Consequently, the results paved a way for easy evaluation of the light distribution in the biological tissue.

The stiffness degradation of the cross-ply composite laminates containing a transverse cracking and delamination in $90^{\circ}$ layer is predicted by using a modified shear-lag model by introducing the stress perturbation function. The prediction shows better agreement with the experimental results published by Ogihara and Takeda 1995, especially for laminates with thicker $90^{\circ}$ plies in which extensive delamination occurs. A homogenised analytic model for average transient moisture uptake in composite laminates containing periodically distributed matrix cracks and delamination is presented. It is shown that the model well describes the moisture absorption in a cross-ply composite laminate containing periodically distributed transverse matrix cracks in the $90^{\circ}$ plies. The obtained results represent well the dependence of the stiffness degradation on the crack density, thickness ratio and moisture absorption. The present study has proved to be important to the understanding of the degradation of the material propertiesin the failure process when the laminates in which the delamination grows extensively.
This study is on the separation of Global warming effect gas, CO$_2$by chemical absorption from mixture of CO$_2$-N$_2$which was modeled after flue gas of fire power plant. Investigation of optimum condition for absorbent was carried out by using sparged vessel apparatus. Through packed tower experiments, applicabilities of two absorption models were tested by comparing experimental results with theoretical values. Absorbent used in the experiments was Monoethanolamine (MEA) and gas mixture was made in the mole composition of 15% CO$_2$and 85% N$_2$. Through estimations of CO$_2$loading and CO$_2$removal efficiency, optimum concentration of absorbent was found in the range of 4-5 M. To find a rate of absorption, an enhancement factor was introduced. Values of rate of absorption were calculated by Film model and Higbie model, respectively. Higbie model showed good agreement with experimental results. Therefore, this models is considered to be applicable to the CO$_2$separation process for flue gas from fire power plant.

In this study, static axial crush tests were performed with the new aluminum/GFRP hybrid tube. Glass/Epoxy prepregs were wrapped around an aluminum tube and co-cured. The failure of the hybrid tube was stable and progressive without trigger mechanism, and specific energy absorption was increased to the maximum of 33% in comparison with the aluminum tube. Effective energy absorption is possible for an inner aluminum tube because a wrapped composite tube constrains the deflection of an aluminum tube. The failure of a hybrid composite tube was stable without trigger mechanism because the inner aluminum tube could play the role of the crack initiator and controller. Mean crushing load could be calculated by modifying the plastic hinge collapse model for hybrid materials. The predicted results by this analytical model showed good agreement with the experimental results. It can be said that Aluminum/Glass-Epoxy hybrid tube is suitable for the vehicle front structure because this hybrid tube shows effective energy absorption, easy production, and simple application capability for RTM process.
The oral absorption and disposition of itraconazole were studied in rats, rabbits and dogs. Serum levels of itraconazole and its active metabolite, hydroxyitraconazole, were determined by a validated HPLC method. The absorption of itraconazole was relatively rapid in rats and dogs but was slower in rabbits. The terminal elimination half-life ($T_{1/2,{\lambda}z}$), time to the peak concentration ($T_{max}$), dose and weight normalized area under the curve (AUC) and the peak concentration ($C_{max}$) of itraconazole found in the dog were comparable to those reported in humans. As in humans, the metabolite to parent drug AUC ratios in rats and dogs were greater than unity but was less in rabbits. The dog appears to be an appropriate animal model while the rat, not the rabbit, may be used as an alternative animal model in predicting the oral absorption of itraconazole in humans.

Acoustic design parameters of a half-wave resonator are studied experimentally for acoustic stability in a model chamber. According to the standard acoustic-test procedures, acoustic-pressure signals are measured. Quantitative acoustic properties of damping factor and sound absorption coefficient are evaluated and thereby, the acoustic-damping capacity of the resonator is examined. The diameter and the number of a half-wave resonator, its distribution, and the diameter of an enclosure are selected as the design parameters for optimal tuning of the resonator. Aroustic-damping capacity of the resonator increases with its diameter. When the open-area ratio of the resonator exceeds the optimum value, over-damping appears, leading to the decrease in the peak absorption coefficient and the broadening of absorption bandwidth. As the resonator diameter increases, optimum open-area ratio decreases.
In this paper, vibration and energy absorption characteristics of a nanostructure which is composed of two embedded porous annular/circular nanoplates coupled by a viscoelastic substrate are investigated. The modified couple stress theory (MCST) and the Gurtin-Murdoch theory are applied to take into account the size and the surface effects, respectively. Furthermore, the structural damping effect is probed by the Kelvin-Voigt model and the mathematical model of the problem is developed by a new hyperbolic higher order shear deformation theory. The differential quadrature method (DQM) is employed to obtain the out-of-phase and in-phase frequencies of the structure in order to predict the dynamic response of it. The acquired results reveal that the vibration and energy absorption of the system depends on some factors such as porosity, surface stress effects, material length scale parameter, damping and spring constants of the viscoelastic foundation as well as geometrical parameters of annular/circular nanoplates. A bird's-eye view of the findings in the research paper offers a comprehensive understanding of the vibrational behavior and energy absorption capabilities of annular/circular porous nanoplates. The multidisciplinary approach and the inclusion of porosity make this study valuable for the development of innovative materials and applications in the field of nanoscience and engineering.
