뽕나무의 현존량추정법과 생산력에 대한 연구 (On the Measurement of Biomass and the Productivity of the Cultivated Mulberry Plants)

  • With the cultivated mulberry plant which feeds silkworm on its leaves in sericulture, the measuring methods of biomass of terrestrial organs were compared and the annual net productivity was estimated. The measurement of the standing crops by means of allometric method on basis of relation between the parameter D230H, square of the diameter of the branch on 30cm high above ground($D{\frac}{2}{30}$) multiplied by its height(H), and the amount of leaves(WL) or of branch (Ws) was more accurate than other methods on basis of correlation between a character of the branch such as H, D30 or D230 and WL or Ws. The estimate of value of the net productivity of terrestrial parts of mulberry was 9.06-12.54 ton/ha.year, which was similar to that obtained from secondary forests in cool temperate zone.

  • Estimation of carbon in the natural forest regions is a pre-requisite for carbon management. In the light of increasing carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere, the amount of carbon present in the plants and soils are very much needed to estimate the sequestered carbons stock of any region. Carbon stock estimation studies are limited in India, especially in the natural forest regions of Eastern ghats of Tamil Nadu. Remote sensing, Geographical Information System (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS) were used along with extensive field and laboratory works to estimate the carbon stock in the living biomass and soil. About five forest types were identified and mapped using satellite data. The total biomass carbon including above and below ground were 2.74 Tg and the total soil organic carbon was 3.48 Tg. This study has yielded significant information about the carbon stock in a natural forest region and it could be used for future comparative studies.

낙동강 하구 염습지 식물군락의 질소 및 인의 동태 (Nitrogen and Phosphorus Dynamics in an Salt Marsh in the Nakdong River Estuary)

  • 낙동강 하구 옥류등에 형성되어 있는 갈대, 천일사초 및 갯잔디 군락의 실소와 린의 동태를 조사하였다. 실소와 린의 흡수량 및 현존량은 식물군락의 물질생산과 단위 무게당 이들 무기영양소의 함량이 달랐다. 실소의 연 흡수량은 갈대, 천일사초, 갯잔디 군락에서 각각 224, 111 그리고 156 kg/ha이었고, 린의 연 흡수량은 각각 22, 29 그리고 21 kg/ha이었다. 염습지의 관속식물 군집은 다량의 질소와 인을 흡수하기 때문에 연안수의 당영양화를 일시적으로 경감시키는 역할을 할 수 있는 것으로 생각되었다.

선버들의 생산성과 생산구조 (Productivity and Production Structure of Salix nipponica)

  • 경상남도 합천군 박실늪에서 선버들 자연림의 지상부 현존량과 연순생산력을 상대생장법으로 조사하였다. 선버들의 ha당 개체 밀도는 6,140본이고, 분지된 줄기는 14,950개로서 한 개체당 분지된 줄기는 평균 2.43개였다. 지상부 각 부위별 현존량의 비율은 줄기 59.2%, 가지 28.3%, 잎 12.5%였다. 각 부위의 건중량과 $D^2H$에서 상대생장식을 유도하여 추정한 선버들의 ha당 현존량은 109.7ton이었고 조사지역 전체에서 지상부 총현존량은 926.7ton이었다. 현존량과 연령구조로부터 추정한 선버들의 ha당 연순생산량은 25.3ton이었다.

Distribution of Organic Carbon in Pitch Pine Plantation in Kongju, Korea

  • Organic carbon (OC) distribution in 32-year-old pitch pine plantation at Mt. Hotae in Kongju, Korea, was studied from August 2007 to July 2008. In order to investigate the OC distribution, OC in plant biomass, litterfall, litter layer on forest floor, and soil within 50cm depth were estimated. The density of P. rigida plantation was 3,200 trees/ha, average DBH was $18.7{\pm}5.53cm$ and average tree height was $11.1{\pm}1.85m$. Organic carbon stored in plant biomass, litterlayer on forest floor and soil in 2008 was 89.46 ton C/ha (46.09%), 4.32 ton C/ha (2.23%) and 100.32 ton C $ha^{-1}$ 50cm-$depth^{-1}$ (51.68%), respectively. Amount of OC returned to forest floor via litterfall was 2.21 ton C $ha^{-1}\;yr^{-1}$. Total amount of OC stored in this P. rigida plantation was 194.1 ton C/ha. Net increase of OC in above- and below-ground biomass in this pitch pine plantation was 4.82 ton C $ha^{-1}\;yr^{-1}$.

양돈분뇨 처리에 대한 포플러류의 생장반응 및 적응능력 (Growth Response and Adaptability of Poplar Species Treated with Liquid Pig Manure)

  • 본 연구는 양돈분뇨 처리에 대한 포플러 클론들의 생육반응 및 적응능력을 구명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 양돈분뇨 처리에 따른 포플러 클론들의 생장반응을 조사한 결과, 양돈분뇨 처리구 내 클론별 생존율은 이태리포플러 Eco28클론이 97.9%로 나타나 가장 우수하였다. 평균 생존율은 무처리구가 처리구보다 33% 더 높았다. 수고 및 흉고직경 생장은 양돈분뇨 처리구가 무처리구 보다 각각 10%, 32% 높았으며, 이태리포플러 Eco28클론 및 미루나무 교잡종 Dorskamp 클론이 양돈분뇨 처리에 있어 수고 및 흉고직경 생장이 우수하였다. 양돈분뇨 처리에 따른 5년생 포플러 클론들의 지상부 바이오매스 생장은 처리구가 52.6 ton/ha, 무처리구가 29.1 ton/ha로 처리구가 80% 우수하였다. 양돈분뇨 처리구 내바이오매스 생장은 이태리포플러 Eco28클론 및 미루나무 교잡종 Dorskamp클론이 각각 73.6 ton/ha, 71.1 ton/ha로 나타나 우수하였다. 생존율, 생장특성, 병충해 피해 정도 등을 종합하여 포플러 클론별 양돈분뇨에 대한 적응능력을 분석한 결과, 미루나무 교잡종 Dorskamp클론 및 이태리포플러 Eco28클론이 양돈분뇨에 대한 적응능력이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 양황철 62-10클론 및 수원포플러 Suwon클론이 양돈분뇨에 대한 적응능력이 가장 낮게 나타났다.

강원도 일부 도시들의 토지이용 및 녹지구조 (Land Use and Greenspace Structure in Several Cities of Kangwon Province)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze urban greenspace area and vegetation structure by land use types for both Chuncheon and Kangleung. Natural and agricultural lands were predominant in the study cites, as 75-80% of total area. Residential lands accounted for about 10%, and commercial and industrial lands(including transportation), 5-10%. Only 10-20% of urban residential and commercial area was covered with greenspace. Woody plant cover was 12-13%, and tree density was 1.5 trees/100$m^2$ for urban lands(all land use types except natural land) in both cities. The tree-age structure was largely characterized by young, growing tree population, and species diversity within a diameter class decreases as the diameter classes get larger. Urban lands of both cities had quite a similar species composition of woody plants (similarity index of 0.65). Street trees in Chuncheon were intensively pruned annually to protect the above ground utility lines. Some strategies were explored to solve problems found in the existing greenspace structures. They included increase of biomass and greenspace area through minimization of unnecessary impervious surfaces, creation of multilayered and multiaged vegetation structures, relocation of above ground utility lines and avoidance of intensive tree pruning, and establishment of greenspace proximity and connectivity.

백합나무의 상대생장식 및 현존량 확장계수 (Allometric Equations and Biomass Expansion of Yellow Poplar(Liriodendron tulipifera) in Southern Korea)

  • 백합나무(Liriodendron tulipifera L.)의 자원량 파악 및 바이오매스 통계자료 구축을 위해 줄기밀도, 바이오매스 확장계수, 뿌리함량비를 구하였으며, 흉고직경과 수고를 이용한 상대생장식을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 지역과 경급을 고려하여 총 40본의 표본목을 벌채하였고 21본은 뿌리까지 굴취 하였다. 본 연구 결과에 의하면 백합나무의 줄기밀도는 $0.43g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, 바이오매스 확장계수는 1.2, 뿌리함량비는 0.2이며, 각각의 불확실성은 3.9%, 4.6%, 24.1% 이었다. 백합나무 지상부 상대생장식은 $W=0.060D^{2.524}$이었고, 전체 바이오매스 및 지하부 상대생장식은 각각 $W=0.063D^{2.578}$, $W=0.010D^{2.591}$이었다.

Red Pine(Pinus resinosa Ait.) 간벌지(間伐地)의 Biomass와 Net Primary Production(NPP)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Biomass and Net Primary Production in a Red Pine (Pinus resinosa Ait) Thinned Plantation)

  • 미국(美國) Wisconsin주(州) Plainfield에 있는 35년생(年生) Red pine(Pinus resinosa Ait.) 간벌조림지(間伐造林地)에서 Biomass와 Net Primary Prodnction (NPP)을 추정(推定)하였다. 지상부(地上部) Biomass는 ha당(當) 97.3ton이었고 이중 수간목부(樹幹木部) Biomass가 67.8%, 지조부(枝條部)가 15.4%, 엽(葉)이 8.4%, 수피(樹皮)가 6.1%를 구성하고 있었다. NPP는 $11.5Mg\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$로 추정되었고 그중 수간목부(樹幹木部)는 30.4%, 엽(葉)은 25.2%, 지조(枝條)는 36.5%, 수피(樹皮)가 2.6%이었다. Red pine의 다른 추정공식을 사용하였을때 Biomass에 차이가 있었다. 그차이는 주로 수간목부(樹幹木部)의 비중(比重)과 흉고형수(胸高形數)의 차이로 인한 것이었다.

Efficacy of Three Different Plant Species for Arsenic Phytoextraction from Hydroponic System

  • Arsenic (As) is one of the heavy metals which causes acute bio-toxicity even at low concentration and has disastrous effect on environment. In some countries, As contamination has become alarming and increasing day by day as consequences of unsustainable management practices. Many existing physical, chemical and biological processes for As removal from water system are not feasible due to techno-economic limitations. The present study highlights the scope of biological strategy for As removal through phytoextraction. Arsenic uptake and accumulation in the biomass of three plant species and their As tolerance abilities have been investigated to develop an efficient phytoextraction system in combination of these plant species. Three non-crop plant species, Pteris vittata; Mimosa pudica, and Eichhornia crassipus were treated with 0-200 mg/L As in liquid nutrient solution for 14 days. P. vittata accumulated total 9,082.2 mg (8,223 mg in fronds) As/kg biomass and Eichhornia total 6,969 mg (4,517 mg in fronds)/kg biomass at 200 mg/L As concentration, respectively. Bioaccumulation factor (BF) and translocation factor (TF) were estimated to differentiate between excluders, accumulators and accumulation in above ground biomass. Pteris and Eichhornia have highest BF (67 and 17) and TF (64 and 3), respectively. In contrast, Mimosa accumulated up to 174 mg As/kg plant biomass which is low in comparison with other two plants, and both BF and TF were ${\leq}1$. This study reveals that Pteris and Eichhornia are As hyperaccumulator, and potential candidates for As removal from water system.
