A case study on the DB using geological data for mitigation of slope failure (사면붕괴 피해저감을 위한 지질 DB 구축사레)

  • Quite a while ago, Organizations which have slope DB system was running slope of management in several. Frequently, Slope failure was happened by abnormal weather and limit of valuation system at the managed slope. Analysis of other organization slope DB systems is very important that slope DB system maintains same regions on geology. In Korea, slope DB system was running at KEC(Korea Expressway Corporation), Korail(Korea Railroad), and KIGAM(Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources). We research theirs DB constructing. For reviewed slope DB system of other country, we searched NLIC(Natural Landslide Information Center)'s DB system in U.S.A., GEO's LPM(landslide Prevention Measures) program in Hongkong, DPRI' ILC(International Consortium on Landslides) program in Japan, and AGSO(Australian Geological Survey Organization)'s NGVUC program in Australia.

Development of a System for Transmitting a Navigator's Intention for Safe Navigation

  • For the past three decades, ship-to-ship collision accidents have steadily increased on the coast of South Korea by about 20% annually. Marine accidents have become more likely and more devastating in areas with increasing marine traffic and rising numbers of high-speed ships. Over 30% of the marine accidents in South Korea are concentrated in spring, since Korea's coast is often covered in dense fog at this time of the year. Fog is generated when a large temperature range exists within a day, and this daily temperature range has increased due to abnormal weather conditions. This research proposed a system for transmitting a navigator's intention utilizing electronic methods. A navigator's intention was expressed on the electronic navigation chart for easier understanding of the surrounding situation, and the effectiveness of the system was verified through practical tests.

  • Land surface temperature is essential for monitoring abnormal climate phenomena such as UHI (Urban Heat Islands), and for modeling weather patterns. However, the quality of surface temperature obtained from the optical space imagery is affected by many factors such as, revisit period of the satellite, instance of capture, spatial resolution, and cloud coverage. Landsat 8 imagery, often used to obtain surface temperatures, has a high resolution of 30 meters (100 meters rearranged to 30 meters) and a revisit frequency of 16 days. On the contrary, MODIS imagery can be acquired daily with a spatial resolution of about 1 kilometer. Many past attempts have been made using both Landsat and MODIS imagery to complement each other to produce an imagery of improved temporal and spatial resolution. This paper applied machine learning methods and performed downscaling which can obtain daily based land surface temperature imagery of 30 meters.

  • The recent unpredictable weather condition, especially abnormal heavy precipitation which is on the verge of PMF, made implement more rigorous design standard. Following these trends, the idea of additional auxiliary spillway, most of them are tunnel around existing one, is adopted to many sites. Tunnel spillway, having free water table is generally consisted of several compartments such as inlet, transition, inclined, curved and stilling parts. It may has some technical problems to be considered. Among them, the surface deterioration due to cavitation is reported many times in the part of irregularities on lining. Including this kind of problem, several technical considerations for tunnel spillway will be handled in this paper during design procedure.

  • In this paper, disasters are increasing rapidly due to increase of population, giantish of cities, advancement of traffics, and abnormal weather phenomena, and the scale of damages is also getting wider. So we study of the disaster safety management system and find recognition comprehensions and the problem points which are basic in our system. We dedicate this research on improvement analysis and main discussion issues of the system that based on diagnostics in developed countries' system. And Disaster management activities are increasing to efficiency through the disaster standardization trend.

  • Recently, disaster that is earthquake, sever rainstorm and the tidal wave were increased by abnormal weather. These influence which is the slope stability of the completed slope as well as under construction slope is affected by disaster. But the management standard for the construction slope is incomplete. Also, the standard connected with construction slope is not integrated with the important public paper organic enemy and it is duplicated and the standards which conflict are being scattered. In this research which it sees consequently the inside and outside of the country construction slope the maintenance civil official relation law and standard investigation it leads and the problem point and a improvement program of management criterion and to sleep the construction slope which is suitable in domestic actuality it prepares and propose.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the concept of purpura in the western and oriental medicine. Method: We surveyed the western and oriental medical books from to recent published books. Result and Conclusion: The cause of purpura is devided into two branchs. One is sthenia syndrome includes stomach-heat, blood-heat and abnormal weather in four seasons. The other is asthenia syndrome includes deficiency of stomache energy, spleen asthenia and deficiency of Yin. In children, the cause of purpura is improper diet, inherent defect and the above things. The treatment of oriental medicine is classified into herbal medication, acupuncture therapy and external treatment

Examinations on the Wave Hindcasting of the Abnormal Swells in the East Coast (동해안 이상 너울 추산에 관한 고찰)

  • Abnormally large swells that appeared on the coast of the East Sea in October in 2005 and 2006 were simulated using SWAN model to examine the accuracy of the model for future forecasting Seawind data calculated based on the weather chart ant bottom topography were used for input data, and the model was operated more than 20 days before the observed swells to avoid the problems from the cold start of the model. The comparisons with observed wind and wave data were unsatisfactory and neededmore improvement in terms of swell component in the wave model as well as the quality of seawind data. The satellite wind and wave data can be good candidates for future comparison of the wave model results in the East Sea.

  • Today, peoples have much interest about safety while an abnormal weather phenomenon is weighted increased. R.C buildings are consisting of main loaded members. Concrete are brittle materials and they are which come to brittle fracture rapidly by progress of cracks. With the exchange of such research in inside and outside of the country, the structure measurement method of having used PZT and the optical fiber (FBG) will be the actual condition which has accomplished the stock. Specially, seismic activity that gives damage to construction and members happens in on time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is the fundamental research which detects damagesof main members using the compound sensor which consisted of the radio sensors of resistance, PZT, and FM system.

  • One of the landslide, Debris flow means flow mixed of rocks, gravels, sand and soil with water. Debris flow occurred in summer by passed the rainy season and typhoon. Especially, Localized heavy rain derived from abnormal weather caused debris flow independent of season. It is increase to collapse of house, bridge, roads by debris flow but countermeasure studies about occurrence cause, movement pattern, damage scale about debris flow are insufficient. This study performed debris flow model experiment using dry material and calculated shock force predicted debris flow occurrence.
