In this paper, we introduce the results of the Sounding Rocket LTE communication test using the LTE-Cat.M1 module. The developed LTE data transmission/reception system consists of Mission-Mounted Equipment(Payload) and Ground Observation Equipment(GOE), and the delay rate was secured based on the time between data measured when received from the GOE by constantly transmitting data from the Payload at a speed of 10 Hz. In order to increase the accuracy of the actual flight test, ground network delay rate tests, hardware internal delay rate tests, and ground tests were performed. As a result of the flight test, it was confirmed that the handover failed in the upward phase and the communication was lost for 13 seconds, and then the parachute was deployed and the communication was reconnected in a situation with a constant positional displacement. LTE-Cat.M1 technology is expected to be utilized for descent phase observation missions or data backup during Sounding Rocket missions.
The digital map computer for advanced air vehicles (AAV) must be high-performance, lightweight, portable, and modular. It should receive data on terrain, weather, and obstacles from external modules to display digital maps accurately. This necessitates robust communication capabilities with external devices via an Ethernet interface and the ability to output digital map visuals clearly through an high-defintion multimedia Interface (HDMI) or digital visual interface (DVI) interface. This paper presents the design of both hardware and software architecture that fulfills these critical requirements for an AAV digital map system. Additionally, it establishes the minimum specifications needed and verifies the suitability of the designed digital map computer through rigorous performance measurements and testing. By ensuring these standards, the digital map computer can reliably support the complex navigational needs of AAV, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

This paper presents a video quality assessment method based on quality degradation factors of real-time multimedia streaming services. The video quality degradation is caused by video source compression and network states. In this paper, we propose a blocky metric on an image domain to measure quality degradation by video compression. In this paper, the proposed boundary strength index for the blocky metric is defined by ratio of the variation of two pixel values adjacent to $8{\times}8$ block boundary and the average variation at several pixels adjacent to the two boundary pixels. On the other hand, unnatural image movement caused by network performance deterioration such as jitter and delay factors can be observed. In this paper, a temporal-Jerkiness measurement method is proposed by computing statistics of luminance differences between consecutive frames and play-time intervals between frames. The proposed final Perceptual Video Quality Metric (PVQM) is proposed by consolidating both blocking strength and temporal-jerkiness. To evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is compared with Difference of Mean Opinion Score (DMOS) based on human visual system.

Generally, the cargo tank of LPG carriers corresponds to an independent tank Type A defined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The outside of the tank is insulated by polyurethane foam, and the tank is made of expensive low temperature steel that can withstand temperatures as low as -50℃. The cargo tank is composed of outer shell plates, bulkheads, stiffeners, web frames, and stringers. Among them, the outer shell plates, bulkheads, and stiffeners can be designed without structural analysis by the Classification Rules and are constructed easily through optimal design. On the other hand, optimal design, including numerous structural analysis, is not performed because web frames and stringers should be designed and approved through structural analysis. Only adequate design, which determines the design dimensions through several dozen structural analysis, is performed. In this study, for finite element analysis, eight loading conditions were applied, and the deformation of the entire ship for each loading condition was considered. The minimum weight design was performed for the web frames of cargo tanks in the 82,000 ㎥ LNG carrier through the gradient-based optimization technique, and the weight was reduced by approximately 108 tons per ship.

It is difficult to apply conventional security algorithms to the wireless sensor networks composed of nodes that have resource constraints such as memory, computing, power resources limitation. Generally, shared key based algorithms with low resource consumption and short key length are used for broadcast packets in authentication of base station. But it is not suitable that all the nodes hold the same shared key only for packet authentication. Recently, broadcast authentication algorithm for sensor network is proposed, which uses key chain generation by one-way hash function, Message Authentication Code generation by each keys of the key chains and delayed key disclosure. It provides suitable authentication method for wireless sensor networks but may leads to inefficient consequence with respect to network conditions such as broadcast ratio, key chain level, and so on. In this paper, we propose an improved broadcast authentication algorithm that uses key chain link and periodical key disclosure. We evaluated the performance of proposed algorithm using TOSSIM(TinyOS Simulator) in TinyOS. The results show that the proposed algorithm ensures low authentication delay, uses memory and computing resource of receiving nodes efficiently and reduces the amount of packet transmitting/receiving.
Typical MLC NAND flash devices are considered less reliable than SLC NAND flash devices. Although raw bit error rate (RBER) of MLC flash had been considered approximately 1000times or more higher than that of SLC flash, recent research conducted on Google's data center shows that it is much lower than such expectation. Based on the research, we devised In Drive Data Duplication (IDDD) scheme that efficiently exploit MLC flash's sufficient capacity to improve its data reliability without structural complexity increment using SSD intrinsic firmware layer, and showed the data reliability expectation of MLC flash could be significantly higher than that of SLC flash from measured and calculated error rates. Even though RBER of SLC flash was lower than that of MLC flash in 44 out of 48 cases we studied, applying IDDD scheme, RBER of MLC flash was became lower than that of SLC in all 48 cases and uncorrectable bit error rate (UBER) of MLC flash was became lower than that of SLC flash in 45 out of 48 cases.
High energy charged particles are trapped by geomagnetic field in the region named Van Allen Belt. These particles can move to low altitude along magnetic field and threaten even low altitude spacecraft. Space Radiation can cause equipment failures and on occasions can even destroy operations of satellites in orbit. Sun sensors aboard Science and Technology Satellite (STSAT-l) was designed to detect sun light with silicon solar cells which performance was degraded during satellite operation. In this study, we try to identify which particle contribute to the solar cell degradation with ground based radiation facilities. We measured the short circuit current after bombarding electrons and protons on the solar cells same as STSAT-1 sun sensors. Also we estimated particle flux on the STSAT-l orbit with analyzing NOAA POES particle data. Our result clearly shows STSAT-l solar cell degradation was caused by energetic protons which energy is about 700keV to 1.5MeV. Our result can be applied to estimate solar cell conditions of other satellites.

This paper describes novel flip-flops with improved robustness and reduced power consumption. Variable sampling window flip-flop (VSWFF) adjusts the width of the sampling window according to input data, providing robust data latching as well as shorter hold time. The flip-flop also reduces power consumption for higher input switching activities as compared to the conventional low-power flip-flop. Clock swing-reduced variable sampling window flip-flop (CSR-VSWFF) reduces clock power consumption by allowing the use of a small swing clock. Unlike conventional reduced clock swing flip-flops, it requires no additional voltage higher than the supply voltage, eliminating design overhead related to the generation and distribution of this voltage. Simulation results indicate that the proposed flip-flops provide uniform latency for narrower sampling window and improved power-delay product as compared to conventional flip-flops. To evaluate the performance of the proposed flip-flops, test structures were designed and implemented in a $0.3\mu m$ CMOS process technology. Experimental result indicates that VSWFF yields power reduction for the maximum input switching activity, and a synchronous counter designed with CSR-VSWFF improves performance in terms of power consumption with no use of extra voltage higher than the supply voltage.
The DO-178C guide, which is referenced as the software development guide when a certification of the airworthiness in the commercial airplane is acquired by FAA in US, is recently referenced for the local military aircraft airworthiness. This indicates that when the auditor of the military aircraft airworthiness looks over the software development documents, the auditor reviews if all of the documents are verified in accordance with the DO-178C guide. However, when we developed the military aircraft intercom, We developed its control software in accordance with the CMMI level 3, since there were no requirements for the compliance of the DO-178C guide. Therefore, When we consider the airworthiness of this intercomm system, The analysis for how much the software development based on the CMMI level 3 is different from the DO-178C guide is needed to prepare the essential software documents additionally. Thus, This study analyzes the differences between CMMI level 3 and DO-178C guide and provides that which data on the CMMI level 3 is necessary for the compliance of the aircraft airworthiness comparing with the DO-178C. The analyzed result can be applied at the software development of the other military aircraft avionics equipment based on the CMMI model environment considering the compliance of the military aircraft airworthiness.
The world-wide principal criteria of aircraft operations is ICAO Annex 6. Operations of Aircraft. Among ICAO Annex 6, Part I is for International Commercial Air Transport - Aeroplanes and it assumes major part of civil aviation. ICAO has been providing Contracting States with SARPs(Standards and Recommended Practices) and monitor each State's reflection degree into their domestic air law, so-called USOAP(Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program). Current ICAO USOAP is Snap-shot method, but it will be changed to USOAP-CMA method from the year of 2013. ICAO USOAP results have overall effects on national aviation industry such as routes, insurance, airlines cooperation and so forth. Low grades of results attract international attention and that leads to flag carrier's operation stoppage, route restriction, airlines cooperation restriction, insurance increase directly or indirectly. Thus it is important to get excellent grades in ICAO USOAP and to maintain confidence. Our government ranked top to get 98.89 grades in 2008 ICAO USOAP but after 2008 the revised provisions have not been reflected sufficiently into our air law. So I would like to grip reflection ratio of ICAO Annex 6 Part I into our domestic air law by using the most updated revised edition on this paper. Together I would like to suggest alternatives for the non-reflected and partially reflected.
