This study was conducted to evaluate the influences of the angle of artificial joints, the distance between the artificial joints and the blast hole, and the number of artificial joints on the pressure wave propagation, crack propagation, and blast wave velocity. The evaluation was conducted numerically by use of the Euler-Lagrange solver supported by the AUTODYN, which is a dynamic FEM program. As a result, it was found that the blast wave velocity was decreased most rapidly as either the distance between the artificial joint and the blast hole was decreased or the angle of the artificial joint was increased. In contrast to the case of no artificial joint, the amount of attenuation of the blast wave velocity was considerably large when an artificial joint was present. However, the effect of the number of artificial joint on the attenuation of the blast wave velocity was negligible under the given condition.
For underwater steel structure, cut that underwater shaped charge device that combines a spring hose, which is an external device of pressure resistance and flexibility with flexible shaped charge, was invented. As a basic experiment for an optimum condition design, an penetration performance was compared by external device shape. To evaluate the result of an experiment, image analysis was carried out after obtaining the model by using the liquid rubber for the penetrated steel plate. To simulate the penetrating process of shaped charge, the AUTODYN program has been used. As a result of analysis, while the average penetration depth of circular and square shaped external devices were similar, the penetration quality was more uniform in the case of circle. In addition, water infiltration occurred in square case, displacement and strain rate according to the increase of the water pressure were measured high.

Numerical simulation on rock cutting by a TBM disc cutter was carried out using SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) code. AUTODYN3D, a commercial software program based on finite element method, was used in this study. The three-dimensional geometry of a disc cutter and a rock specimen were modeled by Lagrange and SPH code respectively. The numerical simulation was carried out for Hwangdeung granite for 10 different cutting conditions. The results of the numerical simulation, i.e. the relation between cutter force and failure behavior, had a good agreement with those from LCM test. The cutter forces measured in the numerical simulation had 10% deviation from the LCM test results. Moreover, the optimum cutter spacing was almost identical with the experimental results. These results indicate that SPH code can be successfully used had applicability for simulation on rock cutting by a TBM disc cutter. However, further study on Lagrange-SPH coupled modelling would be necessary to reduce the computation time.
In this paper, parametric studies are conducted to evaluate the contribute effect of multi layered room and pillar mine structures by underground accidental explosions. Influence of PPV(Peak Particle Velocity) obtained from large explosion at a multi layered room and pillar mine was numerically simulated by using AUTODYN. Parameters for contribution rate Analysis was analyzed by the robust design method. Orthogonal array is $L_9(3^4)$, which was adopted in this study, the parameters were pillar height, pillar width, mine span and sill pillar of 3 levels. Results of analysis showed that bottom mine of vertical direction from explosion point are most affected by pillar height, followed by sill pillar thickness, mine span and pillar width. Parameters affecting adjacent mine of horizontal direction from explosion are in the order of pillar width, mine span, pillar height and sill pillar thickness.
This study undertakes an evaluation of blast effect through the analysis of the contribution rate and effect that different artificial joint number, artificial joint spacing and artificial joint angle have on blast velocity. Blast velocity according to the different state of the artificial joint was obtained using AUTODYN, a dynamic analysis program. The result of the numerical analysis was subjected to further normalization analysis. For the contribution rate of design factors was analyzed using the robust design method. The orthogonal array used in the analysis was $L_9(3^4)$ and each parameters were having 3 levels. The result of normalization analysis regarding the artificial joint angle was indicated a tendency in which blast velocity decreased. The result of analyzing blast velocity regarding artificial joint spacing and artificial joint angle was indicated a tendency in which blast velocity decreased as artificial joint spacing increased when the angle was perpendicular. In the case of blast velocity contribution rates they were ranked in the descending order of artificial joint angle, artificial joint number, artificial joint spacing.

In this study, a numerical investigation is conducted for the shock deceleration prediction of a conical impactor in gas-gun tests. With the development of weapon systems, gas-gun tests are required to validate the survivability and structural reliability of devices under test (DUT) in high-G shock environments, such as those over ten thousand Gs or more. As shock endurance is highly influenced by various bird parameters, such as mass, velocity, and pressure, it is important to determine the appropriate test conditions to generate a high-G shock environment. However, experimental repetitive studies are inefficient to validate test conditions in terms of economic aspects. Therefore, a numerical technique is required to replace experimental gas-gun tests. Here, a numerical investigation is conducted with ANSYS AUTODYN using explicit code. Through this investigation, the dynamic behavior of DUT is presented. In addition, the results of numerical studies are verified through a comparison with the experimental results of a gas-gun test.

Linear Shaped Charge (LSC) that is widely used as separation system in aerospace system has to charge lots of explosives due to lack of uniformity. In addition, it is hard to optimize shape of liner and explosives because of manufacturing process. In order to overcome aforementioned drawbacks, Precision Linear Shaped Charge (PLSC) is currently under development. PLSC is made in two steps: prepare liner independently and charge explosive uniformly. In this study, PLSC is designed to have proper amount of explosives and penetration test of PLSC with different stand-off distance from liner to target is conducted to confirm penetration performance. Based on the penetration test results of PLSC, the numerical analysis method using AUTODYN is established and verified. Penetration mechanism and characteristics of PLSC is analyzed from the numerical and experimental results.
With the increase of the utilization of underground space in Korea, explosion accidents at the underground facilities such as gas pipes have occurred frequently. In urban area with high population density, individual explosion accidents are likely to spread into large complex accidents. It is necessary to investigate the effect of explosion on the stability of underground structures in urban area. In this study, a sensitivity analysis was carried out to investigate the possible influence of nearby explosion on the stability of underground structure with 8 parameters including explosion conditions and rock properties. From the sensitivity analysis using AUTODYN, the main and interaction effects of each parameters could be determined. From the analysis, it was found that the distance between explosion point and tunnel, charge weight, and Young's modulus are the most important parameters on the stress components around a tunnel.
Cratering tests in rock are generally carried out to identify its fragmentation characteristics. The test results can be used to estimate the minimum amount of explosives required for the target volume of rock fragmentation. However, it is not easy to perform this type of test due to its high cost and difficulty in securing the test site with the same ground conditions as the site where blasting is to be performed. Consequently, this study investigates the characteristics of rock fragmentation by using the hydrocode in the platform of AUTODYN. The effectiveness of the numerical models adopted are validated against several cratering test results available in the literature, and the effects of rock mass classification and ground formation on crater size are examined. The numerical analysis shows that the dimension of a crater is increased with a decrease in rock quality, and the formation of a crater is highly dependent on a rock of lowest quality in the case of mixed ground. It is expected that the results of the present study can also be applied to the estimation of the level and extent of the damage induced by blasting in concrete structures.
In order to destroy the hard target, it is essential to develop a penetration warhead with high penetration performance. To design a penetration warhead, this paper discusses the effect of nose shape factors such that nose shape, nose length, nose tip diameter, on the penetration performance of the penetrator. AUTODYN-2D has been used to conduct the computational analysis. The experimental result of Forrestal, and a simulation result have been compared to verify the reliability of computational analysis. Computational results show that the nose length have more influence on the penetration performance than the nose shape. Furthermore, simulation results show that the penetration performance can be improved by increasing the nose tip diameter to a specific value, when the nose length of the penetrator is uniform.
