  • This paper describes the EMTP/ATP Draw modeling HVDC submarine cable. HVDC submarine cables consist of conductor, lead sheath and amore. It is different from general cable which is composed with just conductor and aluminium sheath. Therefore, the transient characteristics are totally different between HVDC submarin cable and general cable. However, the study on HVDC cable modeling and Transient are insufficient. In this paper, characteristic and effectiveness of HVDC Submarine Cable through Transient analysis. Therefore it is evaluated that the application of HVDC Submarine cable at the field should be considered cautiously when more detailed transient analysis, another electrical testes and economic evaluations are implemented.

  • This paper describes switching surge analysis for reclosing decision in 345kV combined transmission line with GIL. Reclosing operation should be decided based on the detailed technical analysis in combined transmission line because this line includes power cable section which is week on insulation. Insulation of power cable can be breakdown at the week point in case of reclosing moment. Therefore the detailed analysis has to be carried out by considering several conditions such as charging rate, inserting resistance, arrester, length ratio of power cable section, grounding resistance, etc. Analysis is performed by EMTP/ATP.

  • This paper describes the fault location method for HVDC submarine cables. Most conventional fault location methods can be applied in off-line. However, in this paper, on-line fault location algorithm is proposed using multi-scale correlating of wavelet coefficient and travelling wave. The propagation velocity is measured by field test on Jeju-Heanam submarine cable section. Finally, the fault location algorithm is tested by same system modeling using EMTP/ATP.

  • This paper describes the assessment of proper location of lightning arrester in combined transmission line which is connected with overhead line and underground cable. The modeling for simulation is established using the actual system in ATP Draw and EMTP. Simulation is carried out to find out the best point to install the arrester in given the model system. And also voltage and current is analyzed on cable covering protection unit(CCPU). The simulation result demonstrated the best location of arrester in the given transmission line through the detailed analysis and its assessment.

  • This paper describes a fault location technique using wavelets in underground transmission cable system Estimation of fault location is performed using data sampled at two ends of underground system. In the case of 50% fault of total underground transmission line, fault location is calculated using sampled single-end data in underground transmission line. Traveling wave is utilized in capturing the travel time of the transients along the monitored lines between the relay and the fault point. This travel time information is provided by the wavelet. Simulation was performed using EMTP. ATP Draw and MATLAB. The results of fault location shown in this paper will be evaluated as an effective suggestion for fault to location in real underground transmission line.

  • This paper describes the comparison of Two frequency ranges for power line communication. The first one is that the frequency range from 100 to 400 KHz is supported by the Federal Communication Committee(FCC). The other one is that the frequency range from 1MHz to 30MHz is based on the European-supported EN5006A band. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of their frequency ranges are discussed for PLC. By ATP/EMTP software, the signal attenuation is simulated both the frequency ranges. It shows that the signal attenuation is bigger at high frequency than at low frequency.

  • This paper presents a technique for electromagnetic field analysis on surge response due to Mid-span back-flashovers effects in lightning protection system of 500 kV EHV single circuit transmission tower by the neural networks method. These analyses are based on modeling lightning return stroke as well as on coupling the electromagnetic fields of the stroke channel to the line. The ground conductivity influences both the electric field as well as the coupling mechanism and hence the magnitude and wave shape of the induced voltage. The technique can be used to analyzed the corona voltage effect, the effective of stroke to the span tower, the surge impedance of transmission lines. The maximum voltage from flashovers effects in the lines. The model is compatible with general electromagnetic transients programs such as the ATP-EMTP. The simulation results show that this study analyses for time-domain with those produced by a cascade multi-section model, the surge impedance of a full-sized tower hit directly by a lightning stroke is discussed.

  • This paper have analyzed sheath induced voltage in underground transmission cable system which will be operated with cable cover protection unit(CCPU). Simulation was carried out to analyze sheath induced voltage using on real cable system in the case with and without CCPU. Sheath induced voltage was also analyzed according to grounding method, fault resistance and fault angle. Simulation was performed using EMTP and ATP Draw, the simulation results represent whether the arrester is necessary or not in cable system.

  • 소규모 분산전원 및 에너지 저장장치로 구성된 마이크로그리드는 에너지 자급자족이 가능한 특징을 가지며 계통연계 혹은 독립운전 모드로 운전이 가능하다. 마이크로그리드를 계통연계 모드로 운전하는 경우, 상위 계통에서 사고 발생 시 마이크로그리드 내 동기기의 과도안정도 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 이 때 인버터 기반 분산전원의 빠른 응답 속도를 활용하면 인접 동기기의 유효출력을 효과적으로 제어하여 계통연계 모드를 유지하면서도 과도안정도를 유지할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 인버터 기반 분산전원의 P-w 제어를 통해, 정상 운전시에는 정해진 전력을 공급하면서 사고 시에는 인접 동기기의 과도안정도를 향상시킬 수 있는 제어 방법을 제안하였다. 또한 실제 적용 가능성을 확인하기 위해 ATP/EMTP프로그램을 이용하여 계통을 구성하고 해석하였다.

  • Sheath circulating current is increased as the change of sheath mutual impedance which is caused by imbalance of cable system, and different section length between joint box. If excessive current flows in sheath. sheath loss will be increased and then transmission capacity of underground transmission system is reduced. Accordingly, This paper proposed sheath current reduction device using resistor and reactor and proved the reduction effect of that device using EMTP/ATP. And also in this paper, when transients are occurred at the underground system with reduction device by ground fault and lightning surge. we analyzes transient effect of system variously. From this result. authors establish the protection methods of sheath circulating current reduction device.
