Recently, mobility support of connectionless mobile ATM data service has been mainly studied in wireless ATM communication network. this paper shows the network model for the mobility support of connectionless data service in ATM network, and proposes the methods to minimize COIP (care of IP address) acquisition processing time for MH(mobile host)migration. Th echaracteristics of proposed methods, COIP acquisition probability and IP data communication sequence of proposed model, are discussed in this paper.

본 논문에서는 ATM network에서 트래픽 제어를 위하여 리키버켓과 EWMA로 구성된 셀 간격 제어기를 연구한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 토큰 풀을 가진 리키버켓과 시간 윈도우를 가진 EWMA, 간격제어 버퍼로 구성된다. BONeS 시뮬레이터에서 ON/OFF 트래픽 소스 모델을 이용하여 제안한 UPC 알고리즘의 성능을 평가한 결과, 패킷화된 음성 트래픽과 고속 트래픽 소스 모두 셀 간격이 평균 비트율에 수렴하여 제어되는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다.

In recent years, security has been more and more significant in network environment. The internetworkding communication including ATM network will be exposed to all kinds of attacks, such as eavesdropping, spoofing, service denial and traffic analysis etc. So, in this paper, we focused on ATM network threats, security service and ATM security mechanisms for threats.

Frame relay needs UPC function for the multiplexed logical connections to prevent malicious user traffic from incoming to network, to guarantee the QoS of conformed user traffic, and to protect the normal operation of network system. On the FR/ATM interworking in ATM networks, the UPC may be conducted either by cell-based ATM UPC or frame-based FR UPC. Frames come into and traverse ATm networks by segmentation to ATM cells. Of course, FR QoS should be guaranteed in spite of segmentation and reassembly in ATM networks. In this paper, we compared the QoS of cell-based ATM UPC and frame-based FR UPC in terms of analysis and simulation in case of ingress of excess traffic over negotiated traffic parameters at user-to-network interface. Also we studied frame-based UPC schemes including window-based FR UPC and frame-based VSA which is an ATM UPC algorithm recommended by ITU-T. We described introductions to frame relay including frame structure and FR/ATM interworking, FR traffic parameters and their relationship, comparison of FR QoS between frame-based FR UPC and cell-based ATM UPC, comparison of FR UPC schemes, necessities of egress traffic control, and conclusions.

In this paper, the architecture of the LAN Emulation service defined by the ATM Forum is introduced. In order to use the vast base of the existing LAN application software in ATM network. LAN Emulation provides a MAC layer service emulating connectionless services of legacy LANs on ATM networks. LAN Emulation forms a logical overlay network, called and emulated LAN, on top of an ATM network. LAN Emulation service comprises a set of LAN Emulation Clients(LECs) residing in end stations of an emulated LAN and three logical service entities : LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS), LAN Emulation Server(LES). and Broadcast and Unknown Server(BUS). LEC utilizes the services provided by these three servers to provide seamless interworking between legacy LANs and ATM networks, and to support transparent communications between LAN applications over ATM.

ATM network is considered as best suitable technology for multimedia service in various aspects such as bandwidth, capability of traffic expandability and so on. In this paper, we suggested a buffer management algorithm in ATM network to improve overall network performance with threshold and auxiliary buffer whose input consists of superpositiI on of voice and multimedia data traffic. To evaluate the proposed buffer management algorithm simulations are executed with four priorities, that is delay and loss priorities and the results are proved that network throughput is improved better than the existing partial buffer method.

Increased network reliability is required as the size of communication network becomes larger and the bandwidth requirement is increasing. And preparing of backup path is required to protect the network from serious network failures in high speed network. In this paper, we construct multiple logical networks on a physical ATM network according to the ATM bearer service category(CBR, rt-VBR, nrt-VBR, ABR, UBR) defined by ATM Forum to support the required QoS(Quality of Service) and to manage the network more efficiently. We use backup path restoration algorithm rather than dynamic restoration to achieve rapid restoration when active path fails and we use fault management function in TINA. We propose a restoration scheme that is suitable for high-speed network.

There are issues regarding how some of traffic parameters should be set so that ATM and non-ATM service parameters can be compatible. For example, policing method used by frame relay based on CIR(committed information rate) will not exactly match the ATM UPC(Usage Parameter Control) method. ATM and the frame relay have different transfer modes and traffic parameters. The cells and frames are police by their own traffic control schemes. For the same information, the real traffic of the ATM side takes greater bandwidth than that of the frame relay side caused by ATM cell format and AAL5 format. IN both networks this bandwidth than that of the frame relay side caused by ATM cell format and AAL5 format. In both networks this bandwidth ratio should be considered on traffic parameter mapping to maintain their QoS and to perform efficient network resource management. In this paper we describe traffic parameter mapping schemes between frame relay and ATM in ATM network and how to expect the bandwidth ratio to maintain FR QoS in ATM network. We assumed frame length distribution to Erlang or Exponential probability density function.

This paper highlights new IP network design and internetworking scenarios overlayed on the existing ATM technology network. It describes the proper network configurations to solve the IP/ATM internetworking probrems on the AISN(Advanced Information Superhighway Network). The paper outlines that IP network can be constructed on ATM backbone network. The paper looks at how new design technology is to enhance the AISN in Korea. The paper concludes that new IP network design is applied to AISN and there is enough possibility that AISN can be developed to efficient NGI(Next Generation Internet).

ATM is a key technology of integration of multimedia service. Recently, Many study have been concentrated on performance testing for evaluation network performance are stronger everyday. The performance testing is on evaluation of maximal throughput of network by measuring and analyzing of various performance parameters. There are two ways to test ATM network performance; one is using QoS in cell level on the point of network's view, and the other is using metric in frame level in the point of user's view. And, the standardization process is also under way. In this paper, we derive a performance requirement of TCP in TCP/IP data transmission over ATM UBR service. By applying the derived requirements to ATM and packet networks, we evaluate the performance of TCP over UBR based on the result of our simulations. Therefore, we evaluate the result of simulation and find degradation of network throughput by interaction between TCP congestion control and ATM cell drop policy. So we suggest the accelerated Vegas that modify traditional TCP Vegas in congestion control mechanism for batter network throughput.
