AC AT feeding system is possible to do the long distance feeding due to compensate the voltage drop. Nowaday this is a typical and efficient type all over the world in high speed train and heavy transport capacity. Normally a Auto-transformer is installed at regular internal (5 to 10km) between Substation and Sectioning post, this study is reviewed the voltage drop according to train movement and the optimal location of auto transformer, and provided the efficient feeding configuration.

We had experienced the several system failures which were concerned about zero sequence voltages at the tertiary side of 345[kV] transformers. In this paper, we had considered the zero sequence voltage and its reduction methods at the 345[kV] auto-transformer tertiary. For analysis, we used EMTP(Electro-Magnetic Transients Program). The calculation results by EMTP were compared with the measured data of the field tests. From the calculation and the field tests, we had verified that it is due to pre-saturation characteristics of the potential transformer. So, we had improved its saturation characteristics and applied it at real site. After improvements, we could reduce the zero sequence voltage below the setting level of the relay.
This paper presents a new algorithm to analyze a train voltages of multi-trains in auto-transformer-fed AC railway systems, using electrical equivalent change. The train current will be divided into circulation and return currents, and these current values are the same. By evaluating each current independently, the result will be more precise. The train current flows through the all auto-transformer corresponding to track impedance. In analyzing the railway system, the algorithm is based on the K.C.L, K.V.L, superposition and circuit separation method. Multi-train's voltages are determined by calculating the catenary voltage at each train's position and adding up these train's voltage drop. Case studies use a field operational data, show that tile proposed method is easily applied.
For conventional interleaved two-phase forward converters with a common output inductor, the maximum duty cycle is 0.5, which limits the voltage range and increases the difficulty of the transformer's optimization. A new two-phase hybrid forward converter with series-parallel auto-regulated transformer windings is presented in this paper. With interleaved control signals for the two phases, the secondary windings of the transformers can work in series when the duty cycle is larger than 0.5, and they can work in parallel when duty cycle is lower than 0.5. Therefore, the maximum duty cycle is extended and the turns ratio of the transformer can be optimized. Duty cycle dependent auto-regulated windings result in the steady states of the converter being different in different duty cycle ranges (D>0.5 and D<0.5). Fortunately, the steady state gains of the proposed hybrid converter are identical at different duty cycle ranges, which means a stepless shift between two states. A prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis. A conventional control loop is compatible for the whole input voltage range and load range thanks to the stepless shifting between the different duty cycle ranges.

This paper proposes new 12 and 24-pulse rectifier systems using an open-delta auto-connected transformer. This approach employs two static converters to operate it at higher than utility line frequencies and to provide multi-pulse operation. By operating magnetic components at a higher frequency, higher power density can be achieved. A unique feature of the proposed approach is that the magnetic components for the dc-side are also exposed to a higher frequency and these components too are reduced in size. The switching frequency and its harmonic components are absent in the utility input line current. The VA ratings of the transformer and static converter are 0.236/0.292 [pu] and 0.11/0.18 [pu] in 12 and 24-pulse rectifier system, respectively. A finer grade of steel or alternatives can be deployed to increase performance and reduce size further. Analysis, simulations, simulations, design example, and experimental results for a 480[V], 10{kVA] prototype system are presented.
In this paper, a 24-pulse AC-DC converter is designed, modeled, simulated, and developed to feed non-isolated varying loads. The proposed AC-DC converter configuration consists of an auto-transformer based on zigzag connection to overcome current harmonic problems in AC mains. It improves power quality at AC mains and it meets IEEE-519 standard requirements at varying loads. A set of power quality indices on input AC mains and on DC buses for a load fed from 6-pulse and 12-pulse AC-DC converters is also given to compare their performance. It is observed that input current total harmonic distortion(THD) of less than 8% is possible with the proposed topology of AC-DC converter at varying loads.
This paper described the unbalanced voltage on the tertiary bus of a single Phase auto transformer in the case of parallel operation with different manufacturer at each Phase. The unbalanced capacitances between primary to secondary winding, secondary to tertiary winding and primary to tertiary winding makes unbalanced bus voltage in the tertiary bus side. The unbalanced voltage let the surge arrester to operate in the power frequency range, and it causes the arrester to burn out. The failure of the arrester at one phase makes line to ground fault, which lead to the surge arrester failure of the other two phase on the tertiary bus.

In this paper, modeling of overcurrent relay(OCR) to protect domestic AC electric railway Auto Transformer(AT) feeding system and operation characteristic analysis on overload condition are described. The target system of this paper is actual site where overload trip of circuit breaker occurs frequently. Because this AT feeding system is made of parallel single track which had a load(electric train) respectively, and is connected with only T phase of Scott Transformer. In addition, this system has been feeding 66kV voltage by KEPCO, not 154kV. We focus on protective coordination of Scott Transformer primary side and secondary side OCR for Korea single track AC electrical railway system in operation currently. We modeled single track AT feeding system and OCR. Also we performed faults and overload analysis for verification of OCR's setting values and system modeling. To analyze above mentioned research, we used PSCAD/EMTDC software tool.

The electric traction systems are quite differ from general power systems which is single-phase and heavy load. Therefore, there are inevitably power quality problems such as steady state or transient voltage drop, voltage imbalance and harmonic distortion. Among these problems, since steady-state volatge drop is the one of most important factor in electric power quality, many researches about on the compensation of volatge drop by using SVC(Static Var Compensator) and/or STACOM(Static Compensator) have been studied and proposed Also, it is expected that transient voltage drop(voltage sag) could affect the control and safety of high speed traction load. In this paper, voltage sag compensation of AT(Auto Transformer) feeding system are studied The detailed transient models of utility source, scott transformer, AT, and traction load are estabilished. The application of DVR(Dynamic Voltage Restorer) in electric traction system is proposed to compensate the voltage sag of traction network which is occured by the fault of utility source. It can be shown that application of the DVR in electric traction system is very useful to compensate the volatge sag from the result of related simulation works.
