In this paper, we have tfesigned and ihlplemented ACE(Application sharing Collaboration Engine) which is pessible an application sharing to collaborate among peoples who are geographically dispersed. The application sharing is a technology whereby two or more users collaborate to share the output of single application running on one computer system to the other users, and to provide input to the applications. We defined ASO(Applicatio!1 Sharing Object) object and its behavior to share applications in real time and ACE processes a sharing using ASO object among the distributed systems. ASO is classified into activateASO, updateASO, inputASO, and controlASO. The each ASO's behavior involves both events which occur at specific moments such as keystrokes and mouse clicks and more persistent status which can be observed at any time such as the image on the screen. The implemented ACE can be applied to the data conferencing, distance education, and project collaboration for engineer in distributed environments.
Purpose : Asymptomatic infections with positive throat culture for group A beta-hemolytic streptococci(GABHS) and high antistreptolysin O(ASO) concentration may lead to sequelae such as rheumatic fever or acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis. Children with asymptomatic infections were treated with oral penicillin V to evaluate the effectiveness of penicillin treatment on the asymptomatic infections. Methods : Throat culture and ASO concentration analysis were performed against healthy elementary school children. Thirty-six children with positive throat culture for GABHS and ASO concentrations of 400 IU/mL or more were divided into two groups. Twenty-two children were treated with oral penicillin V for 10 days, and the others were not treated. Eradication rate of GABHS and the change of ASO concentration between the two groups were compared after one month later. Results : Eradication rates of GABHS between treated and untreated children were 91%(20/22) and 50%(7/14) respectively(P<0.05). Children showing elevation of ASO levels more than 100IU/mL were 22%(4/18) in the treated group and 30%(3/10) in the untreated group, while children showing a decrease of more than 200IU/mL in the ASO level were 44%(8/18) and 40%(4/10) respectively. Conclusion : We confirmed the validity of penicillin treatment, because when we treated the asymptomatic children with penicillin V, the GABHS was eradicated effectively. But there was no significant difference of decrease in the ASO levels between the two groups due to long half-life of ASO or poor compliance. Treatment failure was 22% in terms of elevated ASO levels after penicillin treatment.

Purpose : Measurement of antistreptolysin O (ASO) is often necessary to confirm a clinical diagnosis of recent streptococcal infection, especially in patients suspected of rheumatic fever and acute glomerulonephritis. Standard normal ranges for ASO should be established locally for each age group. We analyzed ASO to determine the upper limit of normal (ULN) ASO in children in the Gyeonggi-Incheon area. Methods : ASO in normal individual concentrations were measured quantitatively by nephelometry on sera from 753 children (Male : 381, Female : 372). ULN were determined by separating the upper 20% from the lower 80% of the group (80 percentile). Results : The mean ASO concentration calculated in a total cases was $149.9{\pm}7.2IU/mL$. The ASO concentration in neonates was $83.4{\pm}10.7IU/mL$, and lowest in the 1 year of age group, $26.7{\pm}6.6IU/mL$, and increased to $318.0{\pm}33.2IU/mL$ gradually in the 9 years of age group. Thereafter, ASO concentration decreased. The ULN for neonates was 122 IU/mL, for 0-3 years, 40 IU/mL; for 4-6 years, 113 IU/ mL; for 7-9 years, 489 IU/mL; for 10-19 years, 433 IU/mL; for 20-29 years, 122 IU/mL. Conclusion : The age-specific ULN for children in the Gyeonggi-Incheon area were determined. The distribution of ASO concentration according to age groups was different from previous reports. These results should be of clinical value to physicians to interprete the ASO results of their patients.
Antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) technology has become an attractive therapeutic modality for various diseases, including Mendelian disorders. ASOs can modulate the expression of a target gene by promoting mRNA degradation or changing pre-mRNA splicing, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay, or translation. Advances in medicinal chemistry and a deeper understanding of post-transcriptional mechanisms have led to the approval of several ASO drugs for diseases that had long lacked therapeutic options. For instance, an ASO drug called nusinersen became the first approved drug for spinal muscular atrophy, improving survival and the overall disease course. Mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene cause cystic fibrosis (CF). Although Trikafta and other CFTR-modulation therapies benefit most CF patients, there is a significant unmet therapeutic need for a subset of CF patients. In this review, we introduce ASO therapies and their mechanisms of action, describe the opportunities and challenges for ASO therapeutics for CF, and discuss the current state and prospects of ASO therapies for CF.

Purpose: In Kawasaki disease (KD) patients, coronary artery complications, incomplete and refractory types occur more frequently in patients with streptococcal or other bacterial/viral infections. Recently, we observed a higher incidence of coronary lesions in KD patients with high anti-streptolysin O (ASO) titer. Therefore, we hypothesized that KD patients diagnosed with concurrent streptococcal infection have poor prognosis, with respect to treatment response and development of coronary artery lesions. Methods: A retrospective review was performed in 723 patients with KD who were admitted to 2 major hospitals between June 2010 and September 2017. Results: Among 723 patients with KD, 11 initially showed an elevated ASO titer (>320 IU/mL) or elevated follow-up ASO titer after treatment. Of these patients, 5 showed no response to the first intravenous immunoglobulin treatment, 3 had abnormalities of the coronary arteries. This is a significantly higher proportion of patients with a high ASO titer (n=3,27.3%) than those with a normal ASO titer (n=53 [7.4%], P=0.047). A severe clinical course was seen in 81.8% of patients in the high ASO group versus 14.5% of patients in the normal ASO group. Conclusion: It is not certain whether acute streptococcal infection may cause KD, but this study revealed that KD with high ASO titers showed higher rates of severe clinical course. It may be helpful to analyze concurrent streptococcal infection in patients with a severe clinical course.
The era of innovative RNA therapies using antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), siRNAs, and mRNAs is beginning. Since the emergence of the concept of ASOs in 1978, it took more than 20 years before they were developed into drugs for commercial use. Nine ASO drugs have been approved to date. However, they target only rare genetic diseases, and the number of chemistries and mechanisms of action of ASOs are limited. Nevertheless, ASOs are accepted as a powerful modality for next-generation medicines as they can theoretically target all disease-related RNAs, including (undruggable) protein-coding RNAs and non-coding RNAs. In addition, ASOs can not only downregulate but also upregulate gene expression through diverse mechanisms of action. This review summarizes the achievements in medicinal chemistry that enabled the translation of the ASO concept into real drugs, the molecular mechanisms of action of ASOs, the structure-activity relationship of ASO-protein binding, and the pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology of ASOs. In addition, it discusses recent advances in medicinal chemistry in improving the therapeutic potential of ASOs by reducing their toxicity and enhancing their cellular uptake.

Ad Hoc Self-Organizing TDMA (ASO-TDMA) has been proposed as a specification to support the multi-hop data communication service for ships over VHF band. It allows for organizing a multi-hop ad-hoc network in a distributed manner by sharing the radio resources among the ships navigating along the route. In this paper, Markov chain analysis is given to provide the average throughput performance for ASO-TDMA protocol Furthermore, the analytical results are verified with computer simulation, which shows that there exists the optimal transmission rate to maximize the average throughput as the subframe size and the number of ships are varying in each hop region.

Single serologic tests may occasionally influence clinicians in making diagnoses. The antistreptolysin O (ASO) test is a frequently used tool for detecting recent Streptococcus pyogenes infection and is helpful in the diagnosis of diseases like rheumatic fever. Using data from a 1989 prospective study of 600 healthy male military recruits, in which 43% experienced S. pyogenes upper respiratory tract infection (2-dilution rise in ASO), this report compared two methods of interpreting a single ASO titer. Using the 'upper limit of normal' (80 percentile) method, recruits with an ASO titer of greater than 400 showed evidence of recent S. pyogenes infection. This method had a sensitivity and specificity of only 65.9 and 81.9% respectively. In contrast to the 'yes-no'. dichotomy of the 'upper limit of normal' method. the likelihood ratio method statistics were ASO value specific, more consistent with clinical judgment, and better emphasized the caution clinicians must use in interpreting a single ASO test.

Purpose : This study was aimed to evaluate the changes of immunologic parameters during hospitalization, and the relationship between IgG and other laboratory or clinical indices in patients with acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis (APSGN). Methods : We reviewed the medical charts of 36 children with APSGN who showed ASO titer>250 Todd U/L and C3<70 mg/dL. We evaluated the levels of IgG and other laboratory parameters including C3 and ASO at admission and at discharge (14 cases). Results : The mean age of APSGN patients was $7.5{\pm}2.6$ year of age, and male-to-female ratio was 2.3:1. At presentation, hypertension (systolic blood pressure>125 mmHg), gross hematuria, and weight gain were observed in 27.8% (10/36), 80.1% (29/36), and 80% (24/30) of the patients, respectively. The mean IgG level was $1,432{\pm}322$ mg/dL ($1,025{\pm}234$ mg/dL in control group, P<0.001), and C3 and ASO levels were $26.1{\pm}16.1$ mg/dL and $1,068{\pm}730$ Todd U, respectively. There were no correlation between IgG level and the levels of any of the parameters analyzed (ASO, C3, BUN, creatinine and white blood cell count), and the severity of the disease assessed by the weight-change during admission. The patients aged<6 years of age (10 cases) had less degree of the weight-change, compared to those of the patients aged>8 years of age (15 cases) (-0.6% vs. -5.7%, P=0.01). The IgG and ASO levels did not change, but C3 (P=0.001) and IgM (P=0.02) levels increased during admission. Conclusion : Increased IgG and ASO levels in APSGN did not change, but C3 level increased during admission. IgG level was not correlated with other laboratory parameters (ASO and C3) and the severity of the disease. Younger children seem to have less severe clinical course compare to older children. With our hypothetic pathogenesis of APSGN, further studies are needed to resolve the pathogenesis of the disease including the increase of IgG.
Objective: The objective of this study was to compare maxillary soft tissue changes and their relative ratios to hard tissue changes after anterior segmental osteotomy (ASO)/bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO) and Le Fort I/BSSRO in skeletal Class III malocclusion with upper lip protrusion. Methods: The study sample comprised the ASO/BSSRO group (n = 14) and the Le Fort I/BSSRO group (n = 15). The Le Fort I/BSSRO group included cases of maxillary posterior impaction only. Lateral cephalograms were taken 2 months before and 6 months after surgery. Linear and angular measurements were performed. Results: The anterior maxilla moved backward in both groups after surgery, however the amount of change was significantly larger in the ASO/BSSRO group (p < 0.01). The ratios of hard to soft tissue change were 79% (SLS to A point), 80% (LS to A point) in the ASO/BSSRO group, and 15% (SLS to A point), 68% (LS to A point) in the Le fort I/BSSRO group. In addition, there was a $3.23^{\circ}$ increase of the occlusal plane in the Le Fort I/BSSRO group. Conclusions: When two-jaw surgery is indicated in skeletal Class III patients with protrusive lips, ASO may be a treatment of choice for cases with more severe upper lip protrusion, while Le Fort I with posterior impaction may be considered if an increase of occlusal plane angle is required.
