  • 1. Objectives This paper was written in order to understand the formative process of Soeumin pharmacology. 2. Methods Souemin pharmacology was analysed with pathology and new prescription in Gabobon(甲午本) and Sinchukbon(辛丑本) of ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Suse Bowon${\Ircorner}$. 3. Results and Conclusions Soeumin is charactrized to much output of kidney and a little input of speen in sight of ingestive food(水穀). So deficiency of YangQi is a peculiarity of pathology and ascending-Qi is a basic pharmacology. The pharmacology in the exterior disease of Soeumin is built up to base on the old prescription of previous text in Gabobon. Ascending-Yang is the basic pharmacology of Sinchukbon and prescription is summarized to base on the Kyuji-tang. So new prescriptin of Chungoongkyuji-tang and Hwangkikyuji-tang is made by combine Kyuji-tang with Koongkihyangso-san and Bojoongikki-tang. The pharmacology in the interior disease of Soeumin is built up to devide to the weakness of Stomach-Qi, dyspepsia and invasion of cold-Qi. Descending Yin is the basic pharmacology of Sinchukbon and prescription is summarized to base on the Yijoong-tang. Sokunjoong-tang's pharmacology of abdominal pain is newly added and applided to Baekhaoyijoong-tang and Kwankyuboojayijoong-tang. The discourse of the symptoms and diseases at the Sasang Constitutional Medine is built up to base on the previous text in Gabobon and base on clinical experience in Sinchukbon. So clinical experience is the power of summarizing the pharmacology and escaping the previous pharmacology.

  • To determine the relation between cGMP and ion reabsorption in rat medullary thick ascending limb of Henle's loop (mTALH) the effects of loop diuretics, furosemide and ethacrynic acid, on the guanylate cyclase of rat mTALH were investigated. The interactions between loop diuretics and cyclooxygenase inhibitors, aspirin and indomethacin, on guanylate cyclase of rat mTALH were also investigated. Furosemide and ethacrynic acid increased guanylate cyclase activity and these effects were not inhibited by aspirin or indomethacin. Arachidonic acid potentiated the stimulatory effect of furosemide on guanylate cyclase. These results suggest that furosemide and ethacrynic acid activate guanylate cyclase directly, and in addition, furosemide affects indirectly via prostaglandin. The reabsorption of sodium chloride may be, at least partially, controlled by cGMP in mTALH.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the relationships between film and processing solution at different processing temperatures. Three kinds of periapical film were used for this study. They included EP-2l film, DF-58, and A film Each film was processed by automatic film processor with RD-Ⅲ X-dol 90, and A processing solutions at 68° 74° 80° 86° and 92°F. Film density was measured with the densitometer, and base plus fog density, film relative speed, film contrast, and subject contrast were evaluated. The following results were obtained; 1. As the processing temperature was increased, base plus density was increased. Inadequate base plus fog densities were obtained with three films in combination with three processing solutions at 92°F. 2. Lowest base plus fog densities were obtained with A film, followed in ascending order by EP-21, and DF-58 film in combination with A or RD-Ⅲ processing solutions. The sequence of base plus fog densities was in ascending order by EP-21, A, and DF-58 film in combination with X-dol 90 processing solution. 3. The sequence of film relative speed values was in ascending order of EP-21, A, and DF-58 film in combination with A and RD-Ⅲ processing solutions, respectively. 4. As the processing temperature was increased, film contrast values was increased. The sequence of film contrast values was in descending order solution. The sequence of film contrast values was in descending order of EP-2l, DF-58, and A film in combination with RD-Ⅲ, X-dol 90 processing solution at 80°F. 5. As the processing temperature was increased, subject contrast was increased. The sequence of subject contrast was in descending order of A, X-dol 90, and RD-Ⅲ processing solution in combination with three films at 80°F. The sequence of subject contrast was in descending order of EP-21, A, and DF-58 film in combination with A processing solution at different processing temperatures.

  • Dispersion management (DM) combining with mid-spans spectral inversion (MSSI) is one of the various techniques compensating for the distorted optical signals. For the flexible implementation of this configured link, the compensation characteristics in the optical link with artificial distribution of the gradually ascending and descending of single mode fiber (SMF)'s lengths and residual dispersion per span (RDPS) as the number of fiber spans are assessed as a function of the control positions of net residual dispersion (NRD). It is confirmed that the best compensation is obtained by distributing gradually ascending or descending of SMF's lengths and RDPS capable to place NRD control position at fiber span, in which optical pulse width is most narrow.

  • Variation of the Local Time of Ascending Node (LTAN) has been analysed according to initial inclinations when the altitude of Sun-synchronous satellite is continuously decreased due to the atmospheric drag. Orbit predictions of 3 years have been performed with the satellite of 500 km altitude when the initial LTAN were set to 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, and 18:00. Different profiles of the inclination and LTAN have been obtained according to the satellite altitude decay and initial LTAN value. Using the profiles of the inclination and LTAN, initial orbital elements can be derived for minimizing the LTAN variations during the mission life time of the sun-synchronous satellite without any on-board thrusters for orbit maneuvers.

  • During the research period, error analysis of the amount of daily precipitation was performed with data obtained from 2DVD, Parsivel, and AWS, and from the results, 79 days were selected as research days. According to the results of a synoptic meteorological analysis, these days were classified into 'LP type, CF type, HE type, and TY type'. The dates showing the maximum daily precipitation amount and precipitation intensity were 'HE type and CF type', which were found to be attributed to atmospheric instability causing strong ascending flow, and leading to strong precipitation events. Of the 79 days, most days were found to be of the LP type. On July 27, 2011 the daily precipitation amount in the Korean Peninsula reached over 80 mm (HE type). The leading edge of the Northern Pacific high pressure was located over the Korean Peninsula with unstable atmospheric conditions and inflow of air with high temperature and high humidity caused ascending flow, 120 mm/h with an average precipitation intensity of over 9.57 mm/h. Considering these characteristics, precipitation in these sample dates could be classified into the convective rain type. The results of a precipitation scale distribution analysis showed that most precipitation were between 0.4-5.0 mm, and 'Rain' size precipitation was observed in most areas. On July 9, 2011, the daily precipitation amount was recorded to be over 80 mm (CF type) at the rainy season front (Jangma front) spreading across the middle Korean Peninsular. Inflow of air with high temperature and high humidity created unstable atmospheric conditions under which strong ascending air currents formed and led to convective rain type precipitation.

  • Maxillary canting and vertical shortening of the unilateral mandibular ramus height is common in cases of severe facial asymmetry. Normally, mandibular distraction osteogenesis (DO) with horizontal osteotomy at the ascending ramus is used for vertical lengthening of the mandibular ramus to correct facial asymmetry with an absolute shortened ascending ramus. In this case report, vertical lengthening of the ascending ramus was performed successfully with unilateral DO and sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO), where the posterior part of the distal segment can be distracted simultaneously in an inferior direction with maxillary DO, resulting in a lengthening of the medial pterygoid muscle. This case describes the acquired unilateral mandibular hypoplasia caused by a condylar fracture at an early age, which resulted in abnormal mandibular development that ultimately caused severe facial trismus. The treatment of this case included two-stage surgery consisting of bimaxillary distraction osteogenesis for gradual lengthening of the unilateral facial height followed by secondary orthognathic surgery to correct the transverse asymmetry. At the one year follow-up after SSRO, the vertical length was maintained without complications.

  • Purpose: The ascending reticular activating system (ARAS) is responsible for regulation of consciousness. In this study, using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), we attempted to reconstruct the thalamocortical projections between the intralaminar thalamic nuclei and the frontoparietal cortex in normal subjects. Methods: DTI data were acquired in 24 healthy subjects and eight kinds of thalamocortical projections were reconstructed: the seed region of interest (ROI) - the intralaminar thalamic nuclei and the eight target ROIs - the medial prefrontal cortex, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, ventrolateral prefrontal cortex, orbitofrontal cortex, premotor cortex, primary motor cortex, primary somatosensory cortex, and posterior parietal cortex. Results: The eight thalamocortical projections were reconstructed in each hemisphere and the pathways were visualized: projections to the prefrontal cortex ascended through the anterior limb and genu of the internal capsule and anterior corona radiata. Projections to the premotor cortex passed through the genu and posterior limb of the internal capsule and middle corona radiata; in contrast, projections to the primary motor cortex, primary somatosensory cortex, and posterior parietal cortex ascended through the posterior limb of the internal capsule. No significant difference in fractional anisotropy, mean diffusivity, and fiber volume of all reconstructed thalamocortical projections was observed between the right and left hemispheres (p>0.05). Conclusion: We reconstructed the thalamocortical projections between the intralaminar thalamic nuclei and the frontoparietal cortex in normal subjects. We believe that our findings would be useful to clinicians involved in the care of patients with impaired consciousness and for researchers in studies of the ARAS.
