A questionnaire survey from 200 visitors and 100 residents was carried out to establish the management plan of the artificial structures constructed in valley within Bughansan National Park. According to the result of the survey respondents realized that the valley ecosystem could be damaged by artificial structures, but not pollutants of stream water. About 60 % of the respondents felt uncomfortable by artificial cement constructures and about 22 % was concerned about negative effect of valley ecosystem by the constructures. The results categorized by management body, management system and management cost indicate that the artificial constructures should be managed in terms of the safety and conservation of valley ecosystem.
In order to develop pedestrian navigation service that provides optimal pedestrian routes based on pedestrian satisfaction levels, it is required to develop a prediction model that can estimate a pedestrian's satisfaction level given a certain condition. Thus, the aim of the present study is to develop a pedestrian satisfaction prediction model based on three machine learning algorithms: Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and Artificial Neural Network models. The 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Pedestrian Satisfaction Survey Data in Seoul, Korea are used to train and test the machine learning models. As a result, the Random Forest model shows the best prediction performance among the three (Accuracy: 0.798, Recall: 0.906, Precision: 0.842, F1 Score: 0.873, AUC: 0.795). The performance of Artificial Neural Network is the second (Accuracy: 0.773, Recall: 0.917, Precision: 0.811, F1 Score: 0.868, AUC: 0.738) and Logistic Regression model's performance follows the second (Accuracy: 0.764, Recall: 1.000, Precision: 0.764, F1 Score: 0.868, AUC: 0.575). The precision score of the Random Forest model implies that approximately 84.2% of pedestrians may be satisfied if they walk the areas, suggested by the Random Forest model.

When a typhoon or natural disaster occurs, a significant number of orchard fruits fall. This has a great impact on the income of farmers. In this paper, we introduce an AI-based method to enhance low-quality raw images. Specifically, we focus on apple images, which are being used as AI training data. In this paper, we utilize both a basic program and an artificial intelligence model to conduct a general image process that determines the number of apples in an apple tree image. Our objective is to evaluate high and low performance based on the close proximity of the result to the actual number. The artificial intelligence models utilized in this study include the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), VGG16, and RandomForest models, as well as a model utilizing traditional image processing techniques. The study found that 49 red apple fruits out of a total of 87 were identified in the apple tree image, resulting in a 62% hit rate after the general image process. The VGG16 model identified 61, corresponding to 88%, while the RandomForest model identified 32, corresponding to 83%. The CNN model identified 54, resulting in a 95% confirmation rate. Therefore, we aim to select an artificial intelligence model with outstanding performance and use a real-time object separation method employing artificial function and image processing techniques to identify orchard fruits. This application can notably enhance the income and convenience of orchard farmers.

This study was carried out to monitor reproductive responses of great tits in 17 urban forests in Daegu metropolitan city. The reproductive perspectives of great tits were surveyed by using 106 artificial bird nests, of which five or seven nests were set up in every urban forest. A ratio of artificial nests used by great tits for their reproduction was 27.4%. It was showing that forests, where the reproductive response was higher, was located at the edge of the city, or was known as having a good vegetation structure in the urban area. The laying date of a great tit was a little earlier in forests in the middle of the city. It might be dependent on the density of artificial land uses including a residential area and an industrial complex, which are able to increase an urban micro-temperature. Otherwise, natural forests or forest patches nearby natural forests located at the edge of the city were showing that the laying date of great tits was relatively later than the oneee in the forest in the middle of the city. There was a big difference of reproduction perspectives of great tit between the 1st and 2nd reproduction. In the 1st reproduction, a clutch size was larger, while an egg volume was so low. Otherwise, the clutch size was shown so smaller in the 2nd reproduction than in the 1st reproduction, while the egg volume was larger in the 2nd reproduction. It might be due to the survival strategy of a great tit to prepare the winter season for a juvenile. Many variables, regarding to the problem of climate changes, have been linked to the environment of urban area and the bird habitats. Finally, Monitoring a bird reproduction is a valuable work for managing an urban forest as well as for conserving a natural forest.

Since the era of the 4th industrial revolution has been ripe, the use of artificial intelligence(AI) based on massive data is beginning to be actively applied in various fields. However, as the process of analyzing forest species is carried out manually, many errors are occurring. Therefore, in this paper, about 60,000 pieces of AI learning data were automatically analyzed for pine, larch, conifer, and broadleaf trees of aerial photographs and pseudo images in the metropolitan area, and an AI model was developed to distinguish tree species. Through this, it is expected to increase in work efficiency by using the tree species division image as basic data when producing forest change detection and forest field topics.
The box tree pyralid, Glyphodes perspectalis, was reared on an artificial diet based on dried powder of box tree leaves, Buxus microphylla var. koreana, and INSECTA F-II (Nihon Nosan Co., Ltd) at a ratio of 3:7 (w:w) and analyzed in their developmental characteristics from $1^{st}$ to $4^{th}$ generation. The developmental period of larva reared on artificial diet was longer than that of larva reared on host plant. Significant difference in larval period was also observed between $1^{st}$ and other generation groups. Pupation rate was the highest in $4^{th}$ generation followed by $3^{rd}$, $2^{nd}$, $1^{st}$ and host plant group. Significant difference in pupal period was noted between $1^{st}$ and 3rd generation group. Emergence rate was the highest in $4^{th}$ generation group followed by $3^{rd}$, host plant, $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ generation group. There is a significant difference in male and female size between $1^{st}$ and $4^{th}$ generation group. Our result indicated that stable rearing of box tree pyralid through the year is possible by artificial diet, and the best adaptation to artificial diet was achieved at $4^{th}$ generation.
This study was performed to introduce ecological education program as for reporting the current vegetation state within the remaining trees as ecological golf course and to provide basic data. The survey site was S Golf course, which is located in Woonseodong, Incheon city. Its total area was about $3,298,428m^2$, but the relict forest was about $225,143m^2$. Existing landuse, topological structure, the flora, actual vegetation, and plants community structure survey were performed within the relict forest. As result of comparing and analyzing the existing land use, the relict forest was distributed in the forested areas (89.2%) and around the area (10.8%) which had been bare land and SAMMOK earthen ramparts. There were two courses (Ocean and Hanul) with the relict forests. The ocean course was compared of a natural forest, such as Quercus spp. mixed forest, Quercus acutissima forest, Pinus thunbergii forest within the rock fields, and an artificial forest (Ailanthus altissima-Robinia pseudoacacia forest, Robinia pseudoacacia forest) and Quercus acutissima - Elaeagnus umbellata forest. On the Hanul course, Pinus rigida forest and Robinia pseudoacacia forest were the main vegetation, which were artificial forest. It was the contrast aspect of vegetation species in a natural forest, a restoration forest and an artificial forest, which were Q. spp. mixed forest 26~28 species in a natural forest within the vegetation type per investigation area, 3 Pinus thunbergii forest species, and 5~7 artificial forest species on the Hanul course. Based on these vegetation status, the Ocean course was designed into ecological theme spaces named 'Quercus spp.' indigenous forest, 'Pinus thunbergii' restoration forest and ecological story of 'SAMMOK earthen ramparts'. The Hannul course was designed into an artificial forest observation area of 'Robinia pseudoacacia' and 'Pinus rigida' and a fragrance forest area of 'Robinia pseudoacacia'. At the time of the discussion about the introduction of eco-friendly approval system of golf course, it would be estimated that this survey would work as a major material not only raising awareness of the golf course on the ecological environment but also providing programs that can contribute to the community.
This study was conducted to clarified the relationship between bird community and forest structure and present the counterplan for protection and management of bird community from February 1993 to July 1995 at deciduous and coniferous forest within Mt. Nam area, Seoul, Korea. DBH distribution has not significant differences in each study site. Deciduous forest had more foliage coverage in all layers than coniferous forest. Total 41 species of birds, which were 16 species of resident, 14 species of summer visitor, 4 species of winter visitor, and 7 species of passage migrant were recrded in two study sites. Leaf use rate of birds was increased the increase of coverage. The number of breeding species and pairs, breeding density, and diversity index were greater in deciduous forest than coniferous forest. The number of species and pairs on bush-nesting and foraging guild were greater than other guilds. And the nuber of species and pairs on hole nesting guild were the fewest in nesting guild. Use rate of artificial nests for improvement of habitat quality was greater in coniferous forest than deciduous forest. Maintenance of bush layer, increase of coverage and leaf layer diversity, supply of artificial nests, management of large trees, and control of natural enemy were necessary for protection and management of bird community in Mt. nam area.

Artificial seeds were produced by encapsulation of somatic embryos of Kalopanax septemlobus and investigated the effects of alginic acid concentration, size of somatic embryos, additives in capsules and nursery seedbeds for germination. The most suitable concentration of alginic acid was 3% for germination of encapsulated seeds. Germination was suppressed at higher concentration more than 3% alginic acid. For germination of artificial seeds, 1/2 MS medium with 0.02% activated charcoal was effective. There was no significant differences on the germination among the different size of somatic embryos. Additives in hydrated capsule was very important for germination and post-germinative growth of artificial seeds. Germination was severly inhibited in hydrated capsule containing only distilled water. Both sucrose and MS medium addition in hydrate capsule was effective for germination of artificial seeds. When artificial seeds were transferred to soilbed, germination rate was high in perlite containing 3% sucrose but very low in perlite with only water. These results indicate that nursery additives in both hydrate capsules and soilbeds was important for germination of artificial seeds in Kalopanax septemlobus.

This study was conducted to support for determining an efficient sampling design for forest resources assessments in South Korea with respect to statistical efficiency. For this objective, different systematic sampling designs were simulated and compared based on an artificial forest population that had been built from field sample data and satellite data in Yang-Pyeong County, Korea. Using the k-NN technique, two thematic maps (growing stock and forest cover type per pixel unit) across the test area were generated; field data (n=191) and Landsat ETM+ were used as source data. Four sampling designs (systematic sampling, systematic sampling for post-stratification, systematic cluster sampling, and stratified systematic sampling) were employed as optimum sampling design candidates. In order to compute error variance, the Monte Carlo simulation was used (k=1,000). Then, sampling error and relative efficiency were compared. When the objective of an inventory was to obtain estimations for the entire population, systematic cluster sampling was superior to the other sampling designs. If its objective is to obtain estimations for each sub-population, post-stratification gave a better estimation. In order to successfully perform this procedure, it requires clear definitions of strata of interest per field observation unit for efficient stratification.
