Array Manifold Measurement and Verification for UCA Calibration in Multistatic PCL System based on FM Broadcasting (FM 방송 기반 멀티스태틱 PCL 시스템 원형 배열 안테나 보정을 위한 Array Manifold 측정 및 검증)

  • This study describes a method of measurement and verification of array manifold of uniform circular array antenna applicable to multistatic Passive Coherent Location(PCL) system using FM broadcasting. In an environment of outdoor test where FM broadcast signals are scattered, array manifold measurement methods using network analyzer and multi-channel digital receiver are introduced. Also, the descriptions and solutions for the test limits of each measurement method and the considerations affecting the measurement accuracy are presented. In addition, to verify the validity of the measured array manifold, the gain and phase difference were compared with the array manifold data obtained by EM simulation, and the effectiveness and accuracy of the measured array manifolds were compared and analyzed by estimating the direction of arrival of the FM broadcast signal received from the multistatic PCL system.

  • This paper deals with a new design scheme to reduce the array multiplication time by modifing the structure of the CSA array in the conventional array miltyplier. A circuit with the suggested scheme is designed and simulated. The suggested scheme is to assign the inputs of addend and augend faster than carry input to the CSA. It is shown that the operation time of the CSA array is reduced to 50%.

  • A two-dimensional positioning system by use of an M-array is proposed. An M-array pattern, which is known as one of the two-dimensional pseudorandom array, is attached on an object to be positioned. The M-array pattern is observed by a TV camera and crosscorrelated with the reference M-array. The maximum of the two-dimensional crosscorrelation function is sought by two-dimensional servo system. This method of positioning can be used in very noisy circumstances.

  • The adaptive array antenna with the LMS algorithm has the advantage in that it can perform train't because of its slower convergencerate. In this paper, the \ulcornerLMS algorithm is applied to the adaptive array so that the convergence rate can be improved, and the performance of he adaptive array by the \ulcornerLMS algorithm is compared to, that of the LMS adaptive array. It is shown that the adaptive array by the \ulcornerLMS algorithm is superior to the LMS adaptive array in the narrow frequency band.

  • The Taguchi parameter design in industry is an approach to reducing performance variation of quality characteristic in products and processes. In the Taguchi parameter design, the product array approach using orthogonal arrays is mainly used. It often requires an excessive number of experiments. An alternative approach, which is called the combined array approach, was studied. In these studies, only single response was considered. In this paper we propose how to simultaneously optimize multiresponse for the robust design using the combined array approach.

  • UV molding is a process for integrating micro/nano polymeric optical components on optoelectronic modules. In the present study, a microlens array for vertical cavity surface emitting laser(VCSEL) to fiber coupling was designed, integrated and tested. At the design stage, design variables ware optimized to maximize the coupling efficiency, and tolerance analysis was carried out. At the integration stage, the UV transparent mold was fabricated and the microlens array on VCSEL array was integrated by UV molding process. Finally the coupling efficiency of VCSEL to fiber was measured and analyzed.

Optimum Array Processing with Variable Linear Constraint

  • A general linearly constrained adaptive array is examined in the weight vector space to illustrate the array performance with respect to the gain factor. A narrowband linear adaptive array is implemented in a coherent signal environment. It is shown that the gain factor in the general linearly constrained adaptive array has an effect on the linear constraint gain of the conventional linearly constrained adaptive array. It is observed that a variation of the gain factor of the general linearly constrained adaptive array results in a variation of the distance between the constraint plane and the origin in the translated weight vector space. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate the effect of the gain factor on the nulling performance.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm and its data structure to support real-time full-text search for the streamed or broadcasted multimedia data containing real-time stenograph text. Since the traditional indexing method used at information retrieval area uses the linguistic information, there is a heavy cost. Therefore, we propose the algorithm and its data structure based on suffix array, which is a simple data structure and has low space complexity. Suffix array is useful frequently to search for huge text. However, subtitle text of multimedia data is to get longer by time. Therefore, suffix array must be reconstructed because subtitle text is continually changed. We propose the data structure called prefix array and search algorithm using it.

  • A varactor diode was utilized in order to expand variable range of the natural oscillation frequency of an active phased-array antenna. We have conformed experimentally that the variable range of the natural oscillation frequency was expanded about three times in the oscillator controlled by the varactor diode. When frequency difference was given to the oscillators in the two elements antenna system, phase difference was appeared between the oscillators. The 2-, 3-, 5-elements patch antenna array was composed for the beam scanning experiments. All the above patch antennas showed good phased array characteristics. The experimental results are as follows that the scanning angle of the 2-elements array antenna is 28.6$^{\circ}$, the 3-elements array antenna is 29.4$^{\circ}$, and the 5-elements array antenna is 26.2$^{\circ}$.
