Interference Effect of Microwave Oven Noise to Wireless LAN Using a GTEM Cell (GTEM Cell을 이용한 전자레인지 잡음이 무선 랜에 미치는 간섭 영향 분석)

  • In this paper, we proposed the method of the interference evaluation between the microwave oven noise and the wireless LAN(Local Area Network) by using the GTEM cell. We used microwave oven noise in time to assess the interference unintentional noise effects on wireless LAN and realized by combining an AM(Amplitude Modulation) modulator and a FM(frequency Modulation) modulator. Also the GTEM cell can be used to guarantee the reliability by the evaluations of the frequency and time responses. As measurement results for the APD(Amplitude Probability Distribution) of the interfering noise we analyzed the effect of microwave oven noise to the throughput of wireless LAN.

  • In this paper, the 25W power amplifier for UHF band radio transceiver has been designed and realized. The power amplifier was composed of drive, power amplifier and control stages. Feedback topology and coaxial line baluns were used for wide band operation. The VDMOS, which has reliable performance for linearity and efficiency, was used for power device and designed to operate as push-pull amplification at Class AB Bias. The power amplifier designed in such a way was found to show stable AM modulation performance when voice signal was detected at the gate stage, with being designed and realized to meet output specifications of commercial air traffic control transmitter.

  • When Television signal of VHF and UHF channel is retransmitted at the relay system with 6MHz Bandwidth including video and aural signals, the image is often affected with the unnatural changes of output amplitude frequency response within ttle region of dual sideband near to the carrier frequency. These phenomena are caused by the unnecessary lower sideband due to the spurious emission at the local oscillator, the nonlinear distortion in the linear amplifier, the intermoudulation distortion with the components of neighboring signal, the AM-PM conversion, and the envelope delay distortion. From the output characteristics, considering above results, the chief cause is caused by nonlinear response and has an effect on the bias states. Finally, it is confirmed that the effects on neighboring signal appear high in case of Down conversion than Up conversion and obtained the method for reducing the effects on the system.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the VHF wireless transmitter for air traffic control. Fundamental performance of the investigated wireless transmitter is designed and fabricated to satisfy existing commercial wireless transmitter specification for air traffic control. 25 W and 50 W of output power can be generated by changing the power amplification part only. It is based on transmitting voice communication using AM modulation. Investigated wireless transmitter for air traffic control consists of four module parts: power supply, control, low power transmission and power amplification. We designed 1W transmitter to operate without power amplification part. It can be used properly in a basic component of CNS/ATM.

  • Surion is required to install radios (U/VHF-AM, VHF-FM) capable of omni-directional communication. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the antenna performance test for the installation of the Surion communication antenna and the selection of optimal location. A simulation pattern analysis was performed employing the antenna, and a coupling test was performed by creating a new evaluation criterion. In addition, the results of the pattern flight test conducted at the previously suggested 1:20 turn and separation distance ratio were observed to be normal. However, the occurrence of voice cutoff was noted in the long-distance flight test. Therefore, in this paper, 1:300 (15 NM) is proposed as a new optimal ratio for predicting the long-distance flight test results in advance. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed evaluation criteria was verified through long-distance flight tests. Consequently, it is expected to reduce the development schedule and cost by reducing the trial and error of the performance test for the Surion model. Also, the results of this study are expected to be used as standards for the installation of communication antenna and quality tests for other helicopters.

  • A simple method for a time delay measurement of a chirped fiber grating by using bidirectional modulation of a Mach-Zehnder modulator has been proposed. The bidirectionally modulated light with time difference makes an interference fringe in the RF domain. The time delay of a chirped fiber grating can be obtained by measuring the period of the RF interference fringe for different wavelengths. We have measured the time delay of a chirped fiber grating with a chirped length of 5 cm and a bandwidth of 3.16 nm. The average slope of the time delay has been measured to be 183 ps/nm and its uncertainty has been less than $\pm$1.7%.

  • In Military MicroWave communication, the distance of link, availability, transmission capacity is the important point in order to design the circuit. Currently, operated by fixed modulation, in the future it will be evolved to the modulation techniques enabled to increase the transmission capacity. It would be hard to consistently guarantee the transmission quality of the high-availability because the occurrence probability of fading increase in terms of the link distance for the case of the long distance. In the case of the modulation techniques for the transmission of high-capacity, as the distance is long, a falling-off in the fade margin from the link budget analysis cause the decrease in the availability. It is difficult to provide QoS guaranteed connection. In this paper, we propose the performance improvement technique of transmission by the variable allocation of the bandwidth and the higher priority transmission technique using setting the ratio of the higher priority capacity in association with the distance of link. Also we suggest the alternative of the calculation for channel transmission capacity to design the circuit.

  • Recently, digital imaging is frequently used by crime scene investigators. However, the admissibility of digital photographic evidence in court is often raised because of the fact that digital photographs are more easily modified than film-based photographs. Therefore, in this article, the researcher reviewed some basic theories and legal considerations related with police crime scene investigations in Korea and The United States. This article is presented in the hope of clearing up some of the possibilities of falsifying photographic evidences and in the hope of setting the strict the rules of evidence regarding digital evidence in this county.

  • The signal processing algorithm for a PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) using amplitude modulation/demodulation is addressed in this paper. Dark currents and external noises such as daylight and fluorescent lights are eliminated by using amplitude modulation/demodulation and a low pass filter. The proposed amplitude modulation/demodulation method for a PSD sensor is compared with pulse amplitude modulation method. The proposed amplitude modulation is proved to be more accurate and robust than PAM method by analysis and experiments. Multiple measurements using one PSD sensor by amplitude modulation/demodulation is also addressed. The Power variation of light source is compensated by normalization process using a divider.

Analysis of Reference Signal for Immunity Test of Sound System and Television Broadcast Receiver (음향 기기 및 TV 방송 수신기의 내성 시험용 기준 신호 분석)

  • Intermittent or periodic signals with undulating amplitudes of mobile devices cause interference noise at audible frequency to the sound system which is installed nearby. In this regard, it is recently issued that the intermittently transmissions of LTE mobile phones cause the interference noises with sound systems, similar to that of GSM mobile phones. For retaining the immunity to noises, a national regulation KN20 suggests a 1 kHz AM 80 % and a CDMA modulation signal as reference signals for immunity test of sound and television broadcast receiver. In this paper, the effects of interference noises of AM and CDMA are compared with those of GSM and LTE, and the improvement of reference signal for national immunity test of sound systems is suggested. It is recommended to delete the CDMA modulation signal from reference signals for immunity test because it hardly cause interference noise with sound systems. On the other hand, it is desirable to select the modulation signal of LTE instead of CDMA as a reference signal for immunity test of sound system and television broadcast receiver because many people use the LTE service and it is analysed that the LTE signal causes considerable interference noises.
