  • Launch Acceptability Region(LAR) means an area for successfully hitting the target. And LAR should be calculated in real time on aircraft so that LAR can be seen by pilot. LAR can be changed by the launch condition of the bomb, the impact condition of the target, and the atmospheric condition at the time of flight of the bomb. In this paper, we propose the calculation method of LAR using Artificial Neural Network(ANN). The learning data was generated by changing each condition from existing LAR model, and LAR model was derived through ANN learning. We confirmed the accuracy of the new LAR model by comparing the difference between the result data of existing LAR model and the new LAR model. And we confirmed the possibility of real time calculation of the LAR model on the aircraft by comparing the calculation time.

  • Permanent Deformation is one of the most important load-related pavement distresses in asphalt pavements. The Korean Pavement Design Guide currently being developed adopted the mechanistic-empirical approach and needed the pavement distress prediction models. This study intends to develop the model for prediction of permanent deformation in the asphalt layer and estimate the pavement performance. The objectives of this paper are to figure out the factors affecting the permanent deformation and then develop the permanent deformation prediction model for asphalt mixtures. The repeated triaxial load test was Performed on the 19mm dense graded asphalt mixture with variation of temperature and air void. Results from the laboratory tests showed that temperature and air void in asphalt mixtures have significantly influenced on the factors in prediction model. The permanent deformation prediction model for 19m dense grade asphalt mixtures has been developed using the multiple regression approach and validated the proposed permanent deformation prediction model.

  • This paper presents a feasibility study of a fresh air load reduction system by using an underground double floor space. The fresh air is introduced into the double slab space and passes through the opening bored into the footing beam. The air is cooled by the heat exchange with the inside surface of the double slab space in summer, and heated in winter. This system not only reduces sensible heat load of the fresh air by heat exchange with earth but also reduces latent heat load of the fresh air by ad/de-sorption of underground double slab concrete. In this paper, we used a model for evaluation of fresh air latent heat load reduction by hygroscopic of air to earth exchange system taking into account coupled heat and moisture transfer of underground double floor space. In conclusion it shows the validity of the proposed method for a design tool and the quantitative effect of the system.

  • Nonlinear characteristics of air pressure variation and wave transformation of a fixed air-chamber structure are discussed theoretically and experimentally. Two analytical methods(method I and II) based on the perturbation method and Green's formula are employed in order to evaluate nonlinearities by the submerged and semi-submerged air-chamber structure. Moreover, an air compression model is newly developed to estimate the dynamic air pressure in the air-chamber inside the structure, assuming the Boyle-Charles's law with adiabatic process in the air pressure variation. Theoretical values of the method I considering evanescent mode waves at an fictious boundary, are in good agreement with those of method II employing the fictious boundary which is not affected by evanescent mode waves. Both theoretical values are shown to agree well with experimental values.

  • The air filter in engine intake system has a function of filtrating the dirt in the scavenging air as well as attenuating the noise. The noise attenuation within the air cleaner filter, however, has been regarded as negligible by the field engineers. In this paper, for the analysis of the acoustical performance of air filter, an acoustical model was suggested and the characteristics of air filter system were investigated. Fibrous structure of the filter element was modeled as a micro-perforated panel using the flow resistivity and porosity. The pleated geometry of the filter element was modeled as two coupled ducts that have permeable walls, in which each duct area was assumed being constant. Using such simplified geometry, a mathematical model was developed for the sound propagation within a narrow duct system. Visco-thermal effect was considered in modeling the sound propagation through such tubes; the filter box was modeled as a rigid rectangular box. By combining two models, a four-pole transfer matrix was derived. For the validation purpose, transmission loss was measured for a plastic rectangular box containing an air filter. A noticeable effect of the air filter element was observed by including the filter into the box. Comparing the predicted and measured data, we found that the predicted TL agrees well with experimental results, in particular, in magnitude and frequency at TL troughs.

  • The air ventilation system of operation rooms has been studied for the prevention of cross infection during the operation. Operation rooms and air ventilation systems of three University hospitals are investigated. The distribution of microbe is measured by cultivating air samples in the operation room. A two-dimensional model for the cross-section of an operation room is developed for the CFD analysis. The characteristics of air flow in operation room are calculated by using a CFD program. The current air ventilation system of an old hospital does not deliver the clean air to the operation area efficiently. A new air ventilation method which improves air venting with little increase of the cost of equipment is suggested.

  • In order to reduce the uncertainties and improve the air flow field, objective analysis using asynoptic observational data is chosen as a method that enhances the reality of meteorology. In surficial data and their numerical interpolation for improving the interpretation of meteorological components, objective analysis scheme should perform a smooth interpolation, detect and remove the bad data and carry out internal consistency analysis. For objective analysis technique which related to data reliability and error suppression, we carried out two quality control methods. In site quality control, asynoptic observational data at urban area revealed low representation by the complex terrain and buildings. In case of wind field, it was more effective than temperature field when it were interpolated near waterbody data. Many roads, buildings, subways, vehicles are bring about artificial heat which left out of consideration on the simulation of air flow field. Therefore, in temperature field, objective analysis for more effective result was obtained when surficial data were interpolated as many as possible using value quality control rather than the selection of representative site.

  • In this study, the freight vehicles were modelled and the flow analysis on the existence or non-existence of a cargo container and the wind deflector were carried out. Based on the driving speed of 100 km/hr, at all models A, B and C, the highest flow rate was shown between 58 m/s and 59 m/s at the top of the model shape. All models A, B and C showed the highest pressure of air resistance between 652Pa and 671Pa at the front of the model geometry. The maximum pressure of model A is considered to be the smallest, with the least flow resistance to speed compared to models B and C. Therefore, it can be seen that model A has an advantageous condition for air resistance in terms of fuel costs. Unlike model B which causes the rapid flow resistance at the cargo compartment, model C can be found to flow a little more smoothly on the streamlined wind deflector. So, the flow air at a streamlined shape is considered to be more advantageous in terms of air resistance than at angular shape. By applying the research analysis result on the air flow in driving according to a cargo container and the wind deflector, it is seen that this study is adequate at the practical efficient design and aesthetic convergence.

  • The object of this study is to identify changes in air pollution in the maximum ground level concentration and the surrounding area when air pollution control facilities are improved in the thermal power plants. The effects of improved facilities are analyzed by comparing air quality after applying improved air pollution control facilities. For prediction of air quality, the change of wind field can be represented with movement of Puff and CALPUFF Model, air pollution diffusion models which can implement abnormal conditions. Major air pollutants of thermal power plants such as $SO_2$, $NO_2$, and $PM_{10}$ are selected as prediction items. That results show that improvement of air pollution control facilities is significantly effective in reduction of air pollution of $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ in the maximum ground level concentration and areas around of thermal power plants. In the case of $PM_{10}$, it is found that the effect of reduction in pollution is high in the maximum ground level concentration, but the effect of reduction in air pollution is somewhat low in the area around of the thermal power plant.
