  • In this paper, the dynamics of automated guideway transit vehicles with rubber tires are studied. Two different AGT models are considered: the bogie system and the steering system . It is found that the bogie system is stable at all possible operating speeds, whereas it is not true fur the steering system. To investigate the dynamic stability of steering systems, the critical speeds are investigated and the dynamics of the closed-loop steering control system are numerically simulated.

  • This paper is concerned with the reliability centered maintenance (RCM) of the Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) vehicle system. Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) has developed the AGT vehicle system from 1999 to 2004. The provisions for a specific maintenance system including RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability & safety) of AGT vehicle system is necessary for maintaining good operation conditions. RCM is a process used to determine what must be done to ensure that any system continues to do whatever its users want it to do in its present operating conditions. Therefore, we introduce RCM in details and describe how RCM should be applied to AGT vehicle system on Gyeong-San test line. Analyses to approach RCM to AGT vehicle system are demonstrated in the seven steps that contain each main task and detailed operating conditions.

  • Slab guideway, surface treatment, heat line installation, and joint connection for Automated Guideway Transit with rubber tire are researched. While the AGT with rubber tire is constructed in city, the precast slab guideway must be considered a reduction of the construction period and the noise under construction. which related with environment. To do that, a basic design and the structural analysis for the precast slab guideway with rubber tire are studied. The surface treatment and the heat line installation of that are also compared with currently used methods. Tining method is applied to the surface treatment adopted from the concrete pavement application currently in use. The connection method between the slab of bridge and precast guideway are suggested with a bolt type and a bond type. To minimize noise and vibration of the connection while the AGT is in driving, the slop connection method can be enhanced the serviceability.

  • In this paper, the dynamics and stability of the automated guideway transit (AGT) vehicles with rubber tires are investigated. Two types of AGT systems are considered: the bogie-type and steering-type systems. The critical speeds for the dynamic instability of lateral and yawing motions are investigated by use of the Routh-Hurwitz's stability criterion. It is shown that the bogie-type AGT vehicles are likely to be stable within the range of practical operating speed, whereas it is not true for the steering-type AGT vehicles. It is also shown that the control performance of steering-type AGT vehicles can be improved by choosing proper steering gains of the closed-loop steering control system.

  • This paper deals with dynamic characteristics of automated guideway transit vehicle with rubber tires. Several models for guideway system of LRT(Light Rail Transit) have been Proposed because of the necessity of guideway system for LRT with rubber tires on exclusive rail unlike steel tires. Here, steering system and bogie system are investigated to compare with dynamic characteristics. On selecting guideway system, the way of vehicle operation should be considered and simultaneously the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle must be evaluated with respect to each guideway. The results show that stability is essential for vehicle with steering system, and that single-axle bogie system gives the good stability, though it is necessary to reduce the guide-wheel force

  • LRT (Light Rail Transit) is one of the transport modes to reduce heavy traffic in big cities and intercity. LRT line is considered to be easily linked with other transport system. The importance of new LRT lines has recently emerged as the problems solution in Korea. Thus, in this study, the turnout for AGT (Automated Guideway Transit) by computer system has been developed. And Guideway for AGT has also been developed for installation on the LRT line as well. In future, if the results of the feasibility study show the new LRT line project is viable, Kangwon Railtech shall propose design for LRT turnout, development, standardized design for guideway, and construction scheme

  • In this paper, we introduced a simulator to visualize the driving scenery of newly developed train called the K-AGT(Korea Automated Guideway Transit). The simulator consists of mainly two parts; control system and display system. In the control system, user can control the driving speed of the K-AGT, the driving environment(day and night), the operation of the train door and the screen door and user's views(driver's view, left window view, right window view, passenger's view). In the display system, immersive driving scenery generated by stereoscopic head mount display system and 3 channel PDP display system are displayed. We are expect to utilize the system to share the idea among customer, designer and constructor and verify the operating condition of the K-AGT intuitively.
